Avatar f tn Hi Doctor, I got an appointment with a podiatrist and asked him his opinion on nail polish. He said that the reason why nail polish is a 'no-no' is that it traps moisture under the nail and can cause fungus!!! Yuck~!
Avatar f tn I just took my BLUE nail polish off and my nails are orange? Wtf lol I don't smoke and it won't come off with nail polish remover. Did blue polish really stain my nails orange or is there something else going on?
Avatar m tn I think I have toenail fungus my toe nail on my right foot has been great is she lol and it's been covered with purple dark purple nail polish my toenail yesterday just started falling off its almost all the way off and I'm wondering if I should take the rest of and if it's going to grow back please help
Avatar n tn Upon closer inspection, the yellowing of my nails is pretty minor. Looks identicle to when you leave nail polish on for too long, and it is more yellow on the area where the old and new nail overlap than it is on the ends, the white part overhanging my toe was not yellow at all that I could tell. The "old" nail does not appear to be any tihcker or more brittle than normal nail really.. It looks NOTHING like pictures of fungus online, however I assume those are extreme cases?
Avatar f tn I have seen people who have worn nail polish for years and their nails are stained yellow or red. or they have fungus problems from years of polish or fake nails. Natrual is the best......always I would maybe check to see if the reason he wants it off is because it bugs him. the smell. ask him. Or try to find nail polish that has very low chemical content health food stores.
483814 tn?1214311480 Itook a diabetic syringe and filled the sharp tip smooth , and cleaned out under the infected nail and twice a day just inject a little of the solution under the nail . It took 10 months but when the old infected nail was gone ( trimmed off ) i continued for about 2 more months and its been a year since and no problems .
Avatar m tn My big toe on my right foot is yellow and all my other nails on my toes are white, and the nail on my right toe isn't joint to the skin. whats wrong with my toe? i'm scared i need to get it amputated.
Avatar f tn When I became pregnant almost 3 years ago I developed a nail fungus which I could not treat as I was pregnant. I left it and did nothing about it. After my baby was born nail got worse , and other sytoms emerged like irregular period ,bad breath , skin problems , skin ichy , tiredness , lack of breath. I struggled with nail fungus for 2 years it was getting worse and better. I am also very sensitive to certain food. I cannot treat the nail fungus with medication as I am breastfeeding my baby.
Avatar f tn Saw my doctor yesterday and he said he thought it was a nail fungus. He said there is a medication you can take, but it's only effective 50% of the time, and you have to take it for 3 months. He recommended soaking my toes in......are you ready? Listerine Mouthwash! He said as odd as it sounds, it works. I'm going to try it....I'd rather put Listerine on my feet than in my mouth. That is nasty as a mouthwash!
Avatar f tn I have had oral meds and creams and nothing fix it. The doctor said he would do surgery to cut the nail off and the vein. I don't believe him as I know that when I dropped the log on my foot and it ripped the nail off, it grew back again. I don't know what to do about it. It is embarrassing and I do all sorts of trick work with nail polish and fillers to hide it.
Avatar f tn and Ketoconazole), as well as an anti-fungal nail polish (Ciclopriox), and also a nail film (Umecta). My nails are still deteriorating (see pictures, taken today...5 months of this). I am fairly certain this began from a bag of pistachios which must have been coated with a dust containing the fungus. Is anyone else suffering this? Does anyone have any advice? Thank you in advance for any help you can send!
Avatar f tn Okay so I recently took my nail polish off only to find giant yellow blotches on my nails I washed my hands tried reremoving it with nail polish remover paint my nails a different color and remove it again. But the yellow blotches are still on my nails what could it be?!?!
Avatar f tn Ok this has happened to me twice n the last 2 years or so... When I wear nail polish longer than say 3 week or so, I go to remove the polish and my 2 big toe nails are most white, looking like they've been scratched up. Does polish really cause this?? I'm afraid to just cover over it with new polish for fear it won't go away. The first time I saw that I did not put any polish on again and it tooks months and months for that to go away.
Avatar f tn Hi there and welcome. Well, this is definitely a new question I haven't seen before. The likely hood a bit of dried nail polish came off in your vagina isn't high and would be harmless. I mean, hopefully you let the polish dry before getting the urge, right? So, a chip of nail polish wouldn't cause an issue if indeed it landed there.
328799 tn?1276565732 I guarantee it is from the nail polish, especially if the polish was red/pink and you did not apply 1-2 basecoats of clear polish on first before putting on the color polish. This happened to me when i didn't put on a basecoat and when i took off my red polish. My solution: paint your nails again to cover it up :) it will fade eventually. You most certainly do not have heart disease or at risk of a stroke based solely alone on this. Don't worry. You are fine!
Avatar f tn I've been using nail polish & nail polish remover & kind of inhaled it. I'm 6 months. Can it still cause harm to my baby?
Avatar f tn In my hospital I have to bring nail polish remover and also be wearing easy removable polish incase of emergency c section
Avatar f tn Sometimes my nails do that if I keep the nail polish on too long, like a couple weeks or so. It does that because if you always have nail polish on then your nails can't get air and that makes them turn that color...
Avatar f tn I loveeeee nail polish and painting my nails, now that im preggers do i have to rehab my addiction? Lol.
9574856 tn?1408172071 HOWEVER, I personally have stayed away from painting my nails even though I normally paint them just because I feel uneasy about breathing in the fumes. And I only used nail polish remover once to get my old nasty polish off my toes that had been there since before I found out I was pregnant, and when I did remove the polish I did it quick. But I know there are tons of women who paint their nails when pregnant, I'm just too paranoid so I choose not to.
Avatar f tn ask for a mask at the nail place or bring your own.. and hair salons are usually big enough and ventilated enough to not harm you...
Avatar f tn Is using nail polish dangerous I just paint my toe nails could it affect my pregnancy I am 20 weeks?
Avatar f tn I asked my doctor at my very first appointment which was 8+4 weeks if I was allowed to get my nails down and she said it. Was fine and suggested wearing a face mask, so I did. I personally couldn't stand having my nails done so I didn't do it again but my friend 6 months pregnant, gets her nails done all the time.
Avatar f tn Is it safe to paint my nails?!?! Got a bunch of nail polish for christmas. Im not girly but dont want to hurt my aunts feelings by not using it..
11367320 tn?1421799959 Actually Columbia University just came out with a study that shows that exposure to chemicals found in nail polish and other household products during the third trimester leads to lower IQ scores in children. The chemicals are called phthalates and often aren't listed in the ingredients list. It lowers your child's IQ score by 6 to 7 seven points compared to children who weren't exposed to the chemicals.
