I'm pretty sure acrylic nails for you aren't the best way to go because of all the chemicals. I bought this nail polish called "knocked up nails". It's pregnancy safe nail polish. I also bought acetone free nail polish remover. I took it to the nail salon. I went as early as they opened and sat near the door and they kept it open for me. That way I wasn't exposed to any fumes.

I stayed out of the salon for the beginning months. The first trimester of pregnancy is like walking on egg shells. I just went to get a pedi at 32 weeks & wore a mask. I also went very early while the salon was empty & no one was getting those stinky acrylic nails done. I would say wait until after the first trimester & consultant with your OB.

I have blue chipped nail polish from ages ago before I found out I was pregnant and I can't take the way it looks anymore on my hands or toes lol I feel like a 12 year old hahaha everyone around me just kept saying don't get your nails done its going to harm your baby so that's why I haven't

All I want to do is paint my nails, is it okay to paint them even though nail polish has that strong smell? And acrylic nail shops smell even stronger, is it safe to sit in there and get your nails done? 10 wks pregnant. Thanks !

I was a nail tech for 11 years and quit when we moved when I was pg with my dd. I did nail through two of my pg's and my kids are healthy. I would however recommend maybe just get a manicure instead. The problem you may have with the acrylic is due to hormones in your body from being pregnant they may not stay on. I know when I was pg I could not keep them on, they would just pop off.

I'm 26 weeks pregnant and I would love to get my nails done. Preferably with acrylic. My nails aren't growing nor are they staying strong even with taking my prenatal Virginians religiously. If I were to get acrylic would this be safe for my baby? Pls help with helpful comments.

I heard that acrylic can cause birth defects, I would speak to your doctor about it before having them done. My doctor advised me to stop having my nails done. My doctor also advised me against having my hair colored but I still had my hair done. I never had my nails done because of fear. Often the nail tech will tell you the nails are gel but they aren't, they're acrylic.

I got mine done a few days ago. Busy concert your nose and mouth and you should be fine. I got a headache from the nail salon smell.

I read that it fine. Just pick a time that the nail salon is not that busy.

But the acrylic nails? I miss getting my nails done. I want to get them done. But family and friends are saying I shouldn't because it's easier to scratch the baby when he's here. etc. Any input?

I used to get acrylic on my nails but avoided it while preggo, the salon I now go to though is well ventilated and offers what they call a powder dip, instead of acrylic they use nail glue and this powder, no smell, no residue,no chemicals and lasts longer then acrylic and gel.

If you have a c section they will make you remove them.

Maybe you should try gel nails. Acrylic fumes can go right through a mask. I am a nail tech and only do gels. I don't even like doing fills for someone with acrylics while pregnant, because of the fumes from filing acrylics.

I am a lisenced nail tech and I do about 8 sets of nails a day. Nails before high school is a BIG NO! It can cause a lot of problems with the nail plate, but the biggest one I that he nails aren't fully matured yet and that they cannot handle having product anchored to them. Putting nails on a child can cause onycotrophia, waiting away of the nail plate an several other things that are dangerous. Gigibair, have you ever been to a salon that isn't a Vietnamese nail salon?

Im not sure bout the hair dye, but I went to do my nails and the lady told me acrylic is not the best especially with the smell, so I did the next gen, it's a powder nail polish no acrylic needed
