I was off minocycline for five days before I started birth control,as starting will the minocycline still be in my system and effect the birth control?
t been on any sort of birth control for a good six months now and my period is still super irregular. I've been skipping whole months. Sometimes it'll come on the 30th day of my cycle, sometimes they'll come 7 weeks apart, etc. It's impossible to track. I've talked to my doctor and they said unfortunately they can't put me on any sort of birth control that will regulate my period without running the increased risk of blood clotting.
My doctor prescribed me minocycline and I started taking it for about four days and then found out I was pregnant. I have stopped taking it since, but now I've read some of the birth defects that it causes and I'm really scared. I'm only about 5 weeks and was just wondering if someone could give some more in depth info on the possibilities of something happening to my baby. I was taking 100mg twice a day.
Last time i had sex was sunday the 18th of april. I have unprotected sex, no birth control. i take minocycline for my face. no its not my first abnormal cycle. and no kids.

Watson. Ugh! I had the same problem with that brand and it never lasted the full 3 days.
The only non-gel generic patch I know if is Mylan. I've used it for a couple years now and it's been great for me. It stays stuck better than the others and actually lasts 3 days. It looks like a piece of clear tape and is about half the size of the gel patches.
Have you tried placing your patches on your ribcage?
I have been on Minocycline for coming up 9 years now and i'm currently down to one 50mg pill a day to control my acne, my question is what effects does it have on my cognitive ability and memory over such a long period of time.
I have acne all over the back of my head and on my back it hurts to touch in some spots and to dry my hair.
I have been reading that minocycline can cause black thyroid in some people and can take up to a year to reverse after stopping medication. it is given to teenagers for acne and my son was on it for 6 mths twice a day having severe headaches yet the dr ignored it until I googled and realized that it could be effecting his thyroid and causing the headaches since those were listed as symptoms and wondered if anyone else ran into that.....his thyroid test did come back 4.6 with the top normal of 4.
t really understand what the connection was, but I wanted to know if I could trust my HIV test results even though I am on Minocycline, and was for months before, during, and after my HIV test.
Also, just to ease my mind, is there ANYTHING else that could effect the validity of an HIV test (aspirin, menstrual cycle, diet, anything)?

I know you said this thread is ended but could you please take a look at this and tell me what you think of it and could this data indicate that minocycline could indeed slow down replication making it possible for delayed seroconversion, which would make my test at the 5 month mark inaccurate.

This is where all of my anxiety has came from.
I have been going through something very similar. I was prescribed Minocycline (a very evil drug) for my cystic acne back in November. Within just a couple days something terrible happened...and it happened so quick. Something just clicked...and then all of the sudden I started to have the most awful thoughts that I have ever had in my entire life. And these thoughts aren't thoughts that I've had before.
The test was a rapid antibody test. Can someone please weigh in and tell me could minocycline possibly be used as a PEP drug for HIV? And if so, should I be worried about my status? Should I test again?
I'm worried because I read on the web minocycline is an investigatory drug for HIV that has been shown to reduce replication of the virus.

3% not as strong as the retin a mico 0.1% i was on and minocycline 100 mg daily to 40 mg a day oracea for only redness and not pimples would help ?seems like it would make it worse..please explain...
t think I can live with this for years, I have bareley left my house since it came back. I have stopped using my birth control (ortho-tryclen), florinated toothpaste, soap, shampoo with SLS and makeup and moisterizers. I have been on the minocylcine 100mg per day for about five weeks now and there is noticeable improvement. I am still getting a few whiteheads appearing and blackheads on my chin, I can't tell anymore if its perioral dermatitis or just a pimple.
Hi Kat.I'm jgwire. new to the group. Based on my experience with the F-patches, I would NOT recommend taking it off to shower or put wet heat on the area or anything like that.
The main reason not to put any kind of heat near the patch zone is that it CAN cause the medicine to come out faster, and flood your system -- and you risk ODing -- Fentanyl is 100 times stronger than heroin, so you DON"T want too much of that, even if you are opiate tolerant.
I was diagnosed with CRP after years of trying the shampoo and typical fungal treatments. I must be one of the lucky ones, because after seeing a dermatologist and getting on minocycline, I have been pretty much CRP free for about 5 yrs now. I have one little brown spot on each side of my armpit area, and that's it. Oh, and I only took the minocycline for about 6 months. I know for some people, they have to take it continually in order to prevent reoccurance.
I have recently started the patch and have found a difference between effectiveness of the two brands TEVA and MYLAN. First I had Teva 12mcg/72hrs (twice) then 2X 12mcg/72 (twice) and then went to 50mcg patches on the 72hr interval, so far twice. The 25mcg patches are Mylan brand and I noticed, pretty quickly, a decrease in effectiveness. Has anyone else?
My pharmacy says I can specify... otherwise the script will be filled with Mylan.
I complained to the pharmacy and they immediately replaced the Teva pills with pills from Mylan. Fast forward 3-5 years and the same thing happened again. Pharmacy gave me pills from Teva, they made me sick, and I was told that Mylan had gone out of business because their facility was destroyed by Hurricane Maria (in Puerto Rico). After doing research I instructed the pharmacy to get the pills from Torrent (manufacturer).
t ask for any particular generic brand. But what I got was Mylan. I have taken Teva and other brands before, but the mylan seems to do next to nothing. if I were to take one mg of Teva my anxiety woud be relieved for the morning. I cant tell that mylan is doing anything. Can I take my bottle back and demand another brand. They can throw the mylan away and give me something that works or Ill find another pharmacy.
This did not clear it up at all but seemed to keep it somewhat under control, however I was also using a steroid cream every so often as well. Now that I am not breastfeeding anymore I have been given a 90 day prescription for Gen Minocycline. I have been taking 2/day now for about 5 days and have completely stopped using the cream or any other cortisone cream. My rash seem so be so much worse now that it has EVER been and I even have some now on my chin!!!
If you take off a Mylan Brand patch and you stick it to something, Can you reuse that same patch days later? Someone has advised me to use two old ones at the same time to equal one new one, but this definitely didn't sound right? If anyone can help I would be most grateful. I am on vacation and our trip has been delayed I cant get home for a week! I am scared to death and there is absolutely no way for me to get a new script here!
