Mycophenolate cellcept

Common Questions and Answers about Mycophenolate cellcept

cellcept

778275 tn?1326913623 I can sort of answer your first question. Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) or Cellcept has been extensively researched for its use in myasthenia gravis. Also, it carries a FDA black box warning that it may increase your chances of infection, lymphoma and congenital malformations (for pregnant women). Also, its optimal dose is yet undecided. Pyridostigmine (Mestinon) is the usual first line treatment for MG.
Avatar m tn additional agents such as mycophenolate (cellcept) may be necessary or in cases of severe rejection a medication such as thymoglobulin may be needed.
Avatar m tn Should the transplant team/doctor monitor liver transplant patients taking cellcept post liver transplant over time? Is there a significant threat of cellcept causing lymphoma?
Avatar m tn My doc is trying to reduce the dose. Since I was on tacrolimus only(as Mycophenolate causes TLC to go down in two occasion), sirolimus 1mg is started along with reduced tacrolimus(2mg BD, Tac level ~4.5). But the creatinine is still high(1.8). It seems some side effect of Sirolimus is also coming as the TLC is 3400 and platelet is 80,000. What do you suggest to bring creatinine under control? What is the way to determine the exact required dose of tacrolimus?
422425 tn?1307992990 Billydude and cudagirl: I did some research, and "grade" does play into diagnostics of T-cells and auto-immune related conditions. It appears from what I read to be used most often with cancers and HIV but can be used with any auto-immune condition. What I could not find was a chart of what was a bad or good level. Without that kind of comparison, it's like not knowing anything at all. Billydude: You said that you take Cellcept/Mycophenolate for Sjogren’s?
645800 tn?1466860955 Had my latest appt with Dr. P at the MS clinic today and am feeling pretty good about how things went. But as usual there were questions I didn't thing to ask him about. Last week I had a MRI w/wo contrast, MRA, and VEP tests done. Of course it took forever to get them lined up due to the VA. The MRI & MRA were done at the VA while the VEP was done at Vanderbilt.
Avatar f tn I was on Azathioprine for two years but when my blood counts went up and I was to take 50mg morning and night, my body did not react well to the drug, so was put on Mercaptopurine. This was devestating and I started to go to liver failure. I am not on Cellcept which is Mycophenolate Mofetil 1g morning and 1g night. This is a fantastic immunposuppressant. Basically what I am telling you is that at any time your body cannot any longer tolerate one drug, there is always another waiting.

Avatar f tn t respond to prednisone or azathioprine, your doctor may prescribe stronger immunosuppressants, such as mycophenolate (CellCept), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune, others) or tacrolimus (Prograf). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When medication fails to stop the progression of cirrhosis eventually a liver transplant must be considered. This is another reason to also seek treatment with a transplant facility.
Avatar m tn I am being successfully treated for a rare autoimmune condition with 15 mg prednisone and 1 gr mycophenolate daily. Although mycophenolate use involves a risk of opportunistic HSV infections, I was not warned about this. I recently had sex WITH A CONDOM with a partner whose status for HSV infection is unknown. Within about a day, I had developed numerous lesions. These spread rapidly and my doctor said they had an appearance consistent with HSV.
Avatar n tn I am on 750 urso three times a day now.. I am 52. I am now on Cellcept (mycophenolate Mofetil) 1g twice daily. This is because the other meds like Azathioprine and Mercaptopurine disagreed with me intensely and I turned a beautiful shade of butterscotch and was oh so ill. This new drug has less chemicals in and suits me very well, in fact I walked 6 miles in Jordan as opposed to not even being able to get out of bed.
Avatar n tn I'm a patient with autoimmune hepatitis type II, and my doctor has just perscribed cellcept in an attempt to reduce or stop use of prednizone. It is really important to me to try and have a child, but I'm afraid if I start cellcept that I shouldn't get pregnant. I know cellcept is a class D drug, and discussed my concern with my doctor.
Avatar n tn I had a breakthrough with Avonex so my dr. recommended adding cellcept to the avonex shots. If so can you tell me how you have done with cellcept. Thanks!!!!
Avatar f tn He will be stopping his CellCept (Mycophenolate (Myfortic)) before starting treatment as you suspected due to interactions with INCIVEK. He is almost 2 years post transplant now. I hope this helps. I will let you know how things go for him as I will be helping him make it through treatment. Cheers!
Avatar f tn The doctor says he proposes to take my mother off CellCept altogether at some point in time and only PanGraaf will be needed for the whole life - in the meantime the doctor may prescribe CellCept in on / off basis.
Avatar f tn that affected my legs so my Dr. just prescribed Cellcept. I filled the prescription yesterday and was scared to death after reading the literature on it. What is PPMS? I will be interested in seeing if anyone has used this medication too. Sunnyb.
Avatar f tn Anyone on cellcept having back pain? I've been having back pain for a couple of weeks now, wake up earlier and earlier in the morning with my back aching and when I move it I get these stabbing pains. It all goes away when I get up, and I've managed to sleep a bit in the morning in a half-seated position, so it's really related to lying down. I just read someplace that cellcept can cause back pain, but I haven't been able to find any info on what kind of pain. Could this be it?
686869 tn?1227199935 it had to be increased. Then we went to 500mg of cellcept and 2mg of prograf...it got better. Then we went to 500mg of cellcept and 4mg of prograf and this is where I have been since then. My surgeons told me that I have a very strong immune system and all systems are different. They even told me that most people take less. After the surgeons feel that you are stable they let you go. Now you must find someone to monitor your care and blood work. I get blood work done every 2 months now.
1135761 tn?1260557094 my doctors have reduced my cellcept in half. 1000 mg 2x day to 500 mg 2x day. they said my symptoms are common and reducing the cellcept should help. any comment?
Avatar f tn Okay hears the deal I was put on prednison when I was 17yrs old along with imuran, now i know the effects of prednison obviouly, it being a steroid there usually are some weight gain and moon face etc as common side effects. Now I'm 19yrs old and they have me on cellcept. I have always been extremely active even to due to my fatigue but I cannot loose a pound, I will work out 24-7 and change my diets often to see if anything changes and...nothing.
Avatar n tn when you say adding some cellcept might be a good idea, does that include trying to lower my prograf some?
Avatar f tn I take Cellcept for 2 and a half year. How long will last taking of this medicine because my hair and stomack can't stand it any more?
Avatar n tn i think the Dr wants to start, cellcept and eliminate diazapam nd steroids....after having such relief finally, after so long.. I am afraid. Also of the side effects of cellcept and having massive pain returned. But which side effects are going to be worse? Preds or cellcept. I will research and let you know,. There are other drugs, but with heart and clogged arteries, i am not a candidate... Hang in there. Advil helps. Tons of it, Percocet if you can find a Dr who will write it,.....
Avatar f tn When that happens, the doctor increases PanGraf / Cellcept dosage and a particular steroid (wysolone). After that the enzymes go back to normal - except GGT which goes down but still remains well above normal (say, falls from 1800 to 300).
Avatar m tn 5mg and tenofovir 300mg) and prograf, cellcept wysolone etc. Two months back entacavir was withdrawn and I am now treated with tenofovir, prograf(6mg), cellcept(1000mg) and Magnesium suppliment. Almost at the same time( 2months back) I suffered from maleria also. Since then SGOT and SGPT are gradually rising from normal level, and they are now 69 and 46 level( normal range is 4) and rose to 3.2 almost one month back but it goes down to 2.3 now. What could be reason?
