Avatar m tn I am now on valacyclovir for prophylaxis and supression, because I must continue mycophenolate use. Of course, there is no point in doing this if I do not have a latent HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection. On the other hand, I am reluctant to allow a recurrent opportunistic infection. Moreover, I have a regular but intermittent partner who I have informed about these developments.
778275 tn?1326913623 Mycophenolate mofetil should be used with caution in individuals who fail on azathioprine (Mycophenolate mofetil substitute) and corticosteroids. Plasma exchange (PE) and Human immune globulin are tried if there is respiratory problems and gysphagia. Some even benefit with thymectomy or removal of thymus. Tacrolimus is another drug which can be tried. Please discuss your treatment with your treating doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn This is a complex case and most doctors, including specialists will only treat the resulting consequences and symptoms. This is usually a short-term fix, while the overall situation worsens. Please post more information about yourself, age, country, short medical history, medicines, typical diet, any test results including lab ranges, etc.
Avatar m tn If so, then the treatment is optimizing doses and levels of cellcept and prograf and trying to minimize the use of parenteral corticosteroids.
Avatar m tn Dear Sir, I after almost 8months of itching finally a blockage in the anterior duct is detected along with the posterior one. 3months back ERCP was done and liver engymes are perfectly normal. But due to high dose of tacrolimus the creatinine is gratually on rise(it is now around 1.9). My doc is trying to reduce the dose. Since I was on tacrolimus only(as Mycophenolate causes TLC to go down in two occasion), sirolimus 1mg is started along with reduced tacrolimus(2mg BD, Tac level ~4.5).
Avatar m tn The standard therapy options include intravenous immunoglobulin and plasmapharesis, corticosteroids, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, etanercept, mycophenolate mofetil, interferon alpha 2a and tacrolimus. Current ones are interferon beta 1a, rituximab, and high dose cyclophosphamide. Your neurologist needs to apprise you of the long-term side effects since prolonged therapy are required. Botox shots are not known to be used in therapy.
Avatar f tn Hi all My wife has SLE which about 8 months ago began to come undercontrol with mycophenolate.
Avatar f tn I have been taking predisone and mycophenolate for the past 9 yrs and until the biopsy I thought everything was status quo. Again thank you for all the information.
Avatar f tn I am not on Cellcept which is Mycophenolate Mofetil 1g morning and 1g night. This is a fantastic immunposuppressant. Basically what I am telling you is that at any time your body cannot any longer tolerate one drug, there is always another waiting. The one I am on now is more 'pure' in other words there are less chemicals in in to effect the liver. It might be worth a mention if you are uncertain but many people are able to tolerate your medication for many years.
Avatar m tn This can be helped by monthly breast, testicular and skin self examination and routine medical check-ups. PAP smears, breast exams, testicular exams, and skin cancer screening should be done by your physician every year. Other general measures should also be taken.
Avatar n tn Also, I have IgA nephropathy and have been on low dose immunosuppressant (mycophenolate mofetil 250 mg twice daily) for the past 1.5 years. 4 days ago, I noticed a little bump in on my labia minora. and I thought maybe it was a boil and tried to break it. It is now pus filled and looks like a zit. its just the one. I have no tingling or itching tho there is some pain now after i messed abt with it which is kinda like the pain i feel with zits anywhere.
422425 tn?1307992990 Billydude and cudagirl: I did some research, and "grade" does play into diagnostics of T-cells and auto-immune related conditions. It appears from what I read to be used most often with cancers and HIV but can be used with any auto-immune condition. What I could not find was a chart of what was a bad or good level. Without that kind of comparison, it's like not knowing anything at all. Billydude: You said that you take Cellcept/Mycophenolate for Sjogren’s?
Avatar n tn We converted 20 patients from azathioprine to enteric-coated mycophenolate sodium (EC-MPS) and continued the remaining 15 patients on azathioprine. Exploratory mRNA expression profiling, performed on five randomly selected EC-MPS patients, revealed significant upregulation of neutral endopeptidase (NEP), which is an enzyme that degrades angiotensin II.
20922415 tn?1661860103 If pregnancy occurs, progesterone is produced in the placenta, and levels remain elevated throughout the pregnancy. The combination of high estrogen and progesterone levels suppresses further ovulation during pregnancy. Progesterone also encourages the growth of milk-producing glands in the breast during pregnancy. High progesterone levels are believed to be partly responsible for symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as breast tenderness, feeling bloated, and mood swings.
Avatar f tn Whenever I get ill my platelets drop - I either have blood rashes on legs and feet or bruising and nosebleeds. I have read from scientific studies that: Platelet count can discriminate between severe and non-severe COVID-19 infections. Patients who did not survive have a significantly lower platelet count than survivors. Thrombocytopenia is associated with increased risk of severe disease. A substantial decrease in platelet count may be an indicator of worsening illness.
461838 tn?1255790216 I am on and off prednisone and can never sleep when I am on it. It is a great drug for healing but can cause insomnia.
Avatar f tn hi i am taking acitrom-3mg daily once, and MMF_500mg daily twice for immunosupressent.now i am practicing YOGA since one month.now my quetion is how to reduce and finally stopped the drugs,is it possible?
Avatar n tn This is because the other meds like Azathioprine and Mercaptopurine disagreed with me intensely and I turned a beautiful shade of butterscotch and was oh so ill. This new drug has less chemicals in and suits me very well, in fact I walked 6 miles in Jordan as opposed to not even being able to get out of bed. Your husband just has to enjoy life to the full and I expect he will have a long and happy one, but the positive side is essential.
4848471 tn?1372238752 I was JC+ before I even started Tysabri and am about one and a half years into it now, still taking it..............I talked to the Tysabri regional rep about it and they still feel our chances of PML are very low.
1323747 tn?1364806882 sections. At least early in the condition trials of immunoglobulin , prednisone, mycophenolate mofetil, and plasmapheresis found some success in some patients. http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1154266-overview For sure correct diagnoses is crucial for treatment. That is where I am right now trying to define my condition as exactly as possible. I realized too that finding out what deficiencies are present and correcting them goes a long ways. Thanks for your help with this.
Avatar m tn My question is: since having this diagnosis do you stay away from supplementation for other health benefits? I was wanting to take chondroitin and glucosamin for my joints. I don't want to take anything that will compromise my liver. I currently am on 5 mg of prednisone and 50 mg of Imuran. I get checked now every 6 months and everything is back to normal levels except my bilirubin is slightly out of range but doc doesn't feel its an issue.
Avatar m tn I take a combination of mycophenolate and prednisolne to stop the anti rejection of the kidney but the retrograde ejaculation appears to stem for the actual operation itself. I couldnt believe afterwards when i was casually told that this sometimes occurs with renal transplants and i had to accept it. I dont. And from the information i have attemted to find through other renal medicine websites and networks, it is not a natural occurrence either.
Avatar n tn he is presently asymptomatic, immunosuppresants being used- mycophenolate sodium and steroids. is there any treatment available for him? if not what will be the natural course of the disease in him?
645800 tn?1466860955 Hi Dennis, Welcome back. Has spring sprung in TN yet? The deer here are very active and creating excitement in the area. I had to reread your message - it appears you are saying that the VA doctors are listening to you ? Huh? This is very good news. The 1.5T closed MRI should give them a pretty good look at what is going on if it was done to the MS protocol. Ufrustrated2 had his breakthrough with the VA recently, too.
Avatar f tn Assume you will be taking cellcept, prednisone and prograf after your tp. You probably will stop taking the cellcept and prednisone within the first few months. You can check the prices online but you can also check into programs to help those who are low income, if you qualify.
Avatar f tn did you tell your doctor you're late?
