i was just reading the related article to this. i have the white bumps on my tongue and it's sore. i'm pretty sure i know why too. i get this every so often. sometimes i wake up and notice i'm slightly biting my tongue. not hard enough to do any damage, but if i'm biting it like that the whole night it gets aggravated. did you notice it after waking up? you may have bitten it in your sleep.
I was thinking about this today as I was watching my Greyhound eat. I give him dry kibble with a little canned with a little warm water. I'm not sure what you feed, but as a trial, I would try feeding him only canned food for a couple of days and watch and see how he reacts to just soft food.
My tongue has become white and furry fealing with splits in it which hurts when i eat. Can you please explain what it is.
Last time I took treatment about half way through my tongue got these little bumps on it an it wasn't pleasant Now after just a week and a half the same bumps are on my tongue, hurts, Burns so bad when I eat. I remember this from last time because I thought to myself people don't even realize what they have until they don't have it. I know sounds weird. Does anyone else have this problem? If so what r u doing for it?

Stuff like red irritated taste bud or the roof of my mouth hurts or I have a bump or cut under my tounge. Everything I eat hurts my mouth too if I eat pasta sauce or anything hot the next day my mouth hurts and is sore. Once in a while the sides of my tongue hurt and are sore. When I brush my teeth sometimes my gums bleed but just a little. Today I woke up and was in pain I looked in the mirror and it looks like my gum on my top front tooth is red and swollen and pushed through the tooth!
I have recently noticed that the area under my tongue is swollen. whenever I lift my tongue, I experience pain that goes through thr extending part under the tongue. Then about two days ago, I discovered little small bumbs on top of the swollen part. Now it hurts even worst. Can you help me at all? what is this called and how can I treat it.
Its really small and when i brush it become like a tiny crator. It hurts really bad when i eat anything. But especially when i eat Anything with salt. Ive been brushing it, rinsing with Hydrogen Peroxide and Listerine. After rinsing the pain goes down but it flares back up in an hour or so. I cant even fully rest my tongue in my mouth cuz when it touches my teeth or anything in my mouth it stings. How do I get rid of it?
Also there is a pin-head sized hole on the side of my tongue, unrelated to the whiteness. It hurts when I move my tongue or talk, but not when I eat or drink really. It's been there for a few days at most. What could these two things be ? I was not sure where to post this, so I posted it here because people in here talk about tongue issues. I did not see a mouth category. I'm not too worried about HIV, but it could be a possibility.
It looks exactly like geographical tongue but without the faint white lining and i think it's a bit more red than theaverage geographical tongue. Moving my tongue and tensing my tongue hurts as well(it hurts the spot only). I had my wisdom teeth removed a few days ago and i've been using Colgate Savacol Antiseptic mouthwash to clean my mouth and i have a feeling the burning sensation caused this red patch on my tongue but i'm not sure. Is it geographical tongue?
I have that and it hurts when I get flareups. They occur when I'm under stress, or if I eat spicy or very acidic foods. However, mine does not swell up. Although not a hallmark for this condition, I do have cracks along the length of my tongue. Fissured tongue is the medical terminology.
I use a nasal spray called Beconase and Nonjela- and gargle with hot salty water on really bad days when my tongue feels on fire and everything I eat hurts like hell!!!! It’s a really crappy and unpredictable condition. The oddest foods spark it off. Any suggestions on anything that helps not have it hurt so much would be cool. Its not an allergy. I know this. It's not ulcers either!
On Friday I had woken up and my tongue was so swollen that I couldn't talk with my tongue inside of my mouth because if I did i would bite down on the sores on the side of my tongue. Well...by the end of the school day, on Friday, the swelling had gone down but the sores started burning and i was able to make the burning go away for a second but now I can't even seem to make the burn go away from even a mili second. Its really aggervating.
This is so cool. I have a geographic tongue. My symptoms are more like the Dr. described though. It appears daily. Every morning, I have a map going to who knows where all over my tongue. Certain thing activate it but what happens is my tongue kinda rises. I feel it, it feels different...weird. BUT, when I was a kid, the docs told my mom that it was a hereditary thing. We knew no one else who had it. UNTIL.... my 11 year old daughter's tongue started bleeding a few years back.
I have had the surgery to lengthen the tongue. Let me explain it to you. My tongue was did not even come out to lick my lips. forgive my lack of medical terms but you know the little attachment under the tongue? Well that in my case was too short. I had this done when I was about 13 years old. I believe we went to a periodentist to have the procedure. in 1990, this cost my mother 500 dollars. the dentist and nurse are present for the surgery.
I am not in any pain or discomfort from my orange tongue, but I seem to be very parched in the morning when I wake (this is when I have noticed the orange tongue). I thought maybe diabetis. I will check my sugars this weekend. I hope this information helps some of us figure out what is causing the "orange tongue".
Okay...this is not even mildly humourous anymore. When my tongue first started burning, I thought it was freezer burn from eating ice cream. Obviously, now that weeks more have passed, that's not the case. I kid not..my tongue stings all the time and it is so painful. I hate the litocain. It seems worse to not feel your mouth at all! I have 5 more weeks to go. Is there any chance this tongue thing will go away?
omg my freaking tounge hurts i know i spelled that wrong but it does i heard it is from drinking so much pop becuse i drink any diet pop and i hate to drink water and i do drink it every once in awile but it hurts when i eat and drink and talk but i have put up with it for like 2 days now but i have had them before it just hurts like a mofo i think that it is called a canker sore and there is no cure except just let it stay there or cut off ur tounge and i know it is spelled wrong again but ther
My tongue has been sensitive for some time now and I always thought that when it gets shriveled (on both sides the same) that it was a side affect from iron difficiency or slight case of anemia. I try to eat protein or sometimes take iron supplement. Any suggestions? This discussion is related to Withered sides of tongue, kyo state?.
I, too have a bump under my tongue. It is right on the skin that connects my tongue to my lower jaw, so when i move my tongue, it hurts. It started recently, and has been recurring on and off. However, this morning it was at its fullest and largest size. It appears to be clear, with some sort of transparent fluid inside. It hurts when I eat, for it involved tongue movement. I do not smoke, chew tobacco, or anything of the sort, nor have I ever. Looking at it, it has gotten MUCH bigger over time.
It feels like a swelling under the right side of my tongue and when I press on the same point under my chin, kind of where my lymph nodes are it hurts. When I swallow it feels like it's pinching something and sends shooting pains into my neck. No sore throat, coughing or fever and it seems to really be brought on when I eat. I went to a football game Sunday and was screaming my head off and I'm not sure if this is a result of that. Help please?
it really doesn't interfere with my life, just very frustrating when I am out somewhere and my food is a little too spicy or salty, can't eat it.
I have been like crying in pain because of it. It hurts to move my tongue around and it makes it hard to swallow even my own saliva. I have been to my doctor and dentist about it, both saying it will leave on its own..but it has been years...They said its a salivatory stone, caused by plaque type buildup that gets stuck and makes it hard to salivate...who knows. I wish I had an answer for you, and for myself.

I think it is because I eat too much ice! I feel like I have burned my tongue and because I am addicted to chewing ice - my only vise - that is the only thing I can figure out. When I don't eat spicy foods, I'm okay. Go figure. Anyone else chew on ice?
One of my symptoms which I find very disturbing and which I don't normally find on a symptom list for depression is my tongue is numb and tingling. When I touch it I dont have a lot of feeling and it hurts as if I burnt it on a hot cup of coffee. This usually lasts several days when I get it and I also get a bitter taste in my mouth along with this.
And my tongue swells randomly when it rains and under my tongue tends to swell as well. I take zyrtec everynight but it does'nt seem to ward off these horribe sinus infections. I even have to use an inhaler the first few days of the sinus infection. I try to be healthy but I keep getting them.Im only a junior now but I cant deal with these infections anymore.
For a couple days now I have had what seems to be a sore on my tongue but on the bottom and towards the back my mouth....It seems to be getting very irritated because when I eat it rubs against my teeth and makes it worse...Everytime I talk also it hurts and now my throat is very sore. Not sure what it is because I cannot see or feel it but I know it is some kind of bump.
Your mouth contains millions of receptors that make up your sense of taste, allowing you to distinguish between bitter, sweet, salty, sour and savory. But your tongue is home for thousands of pain receptors, as well. When you eat something spicy, the capsaicin irritates those pain receptors, causing a burning sensation. While it may feel painful or uncomfortable, fear not – you’re not actually doing any physical damage to your tongue.
I have a sore under my tongue and it hurts when I eat sweets or citric or acidy foods. I just recently found a swolen gland under my jaw line and can't figure out how to stop it, cure it or even what it is.....
