When touching around the cap in the soft spots it hurts. When pushing centre of the cap it hurts also further up top of cap hurts. Getting shooting pains up thigh and numbness when sitting, a cold feeling. It's been 2 days now yesterday it was hard to walk around without a limp to keep off of it. In the past I have hit it on a couple things fairly hard as I am a labourer.

I'm 16 and for the past year I've had knee issues. I work at a library and shelve books so there's a lot of crouching and knee sitting. Last year I had gotten a huge bruise on my knee cap that covered nearly my entire cap. My doctor said that it was fine and that I just needed to do more physical activity. I started dance and I feel like it's just aggravating my knees more. I just noticed today that I hve a small shiner on my right knee.
the next morning i couldnt walk on it the it gradually got better through the week then i went to a skatepark yesterday and when jumping off something it came back it wasnt fully healed yet anyway but it is swollen about 1/2 the size of my knee cap and hurts when i squat, or do things that put pressure on it. Its a hard swollen knot.
Last wk I was playing basketball and when I came down from jumping I had a real sharp pain in my knee and could not continue. Around the top of my knee cap is tender and hurts and when I put pressure on my knee getting out the car or anything I get sharp tack like pains under my knee cap and sometimes on the side of my knee and it aches a little, I have really slight swelling but I am able to walk. What do you think it is and what should I do?

I fell Christmas 2015 running for a train and fell on a large concrete step straight onto my right knee cap. It was cut and badly bruised at the time but over a year later I can't kneel on that area of my knee without it hurting badly I'd say 9/10 pain rating. When I put pressure on it with my fingers it also hurts. The location of the pain is under my knee cap. I've recently started running which mostly just makes the area stiff.
Hi. . If you had recently fallen and hurt your knee, you might have had a bleeding inside your joint and collection of blood in the joint space along with some fracture. I would advise you to immediately see an orthopedician and get an x-ray or a MRI of the affected joint done. Please do not ignore it.
i dislocated my knee. This is my third time doing it. I have noticed that my knee cap is very loose and it still hurts and cramps up when i bend it and stand up. Also, when i am walking my knee gives out. It has been almost a week since the incodent. should i see a doctor. I have a feeling that this may mean something bad! please help me out. t done anything (knowingly) to injure it. The pain is below my knee cap where it meets the shin bone. It only hurts when in motion...walking or using stairs, or anytime I have my weight on it. I have to limp because the pain hurts so much. Some days are worse than others; some times there is very little pain. When sitting down there is no pain, and I can move my leg around with no pain while sitting. My knee pops occasionally but nothing new.
The pain occurs mostly above the knee cap and slightly along both sides. I have never had any knee injuries nor do I remember injuring it prior to when the pain began. I made a doctor's appt for February 22nd but it seems to be getting worse and i'm not sure if I will be able to handle the pain. Just got back from a docs appt and a bit confused I had several ligament tears at a young age and at 36 had a ACL procedure with the patella tendon- since my first injury ( a patella fracture and ligament tears ) my knee has been prone to collapsing- the docs all these years said it was due to pain and muscle flexing- now last two docs have noted that my Patella has severe arthritis and much smaller ( worn away ) than my other knee.
I have a hard boney bump on the outer side of my left knee cap. I only started to notice the bump after I've increased my running miles. Yesterday I was photographing a wedding and I kneeled down and as soon as my knee hit the ground I had a severe pain just below my knee. It felt like I was kneeling right on my bone and something was stabbing it. I got up and seemed okay. About 30 minutes later just below my knee started to throb and swell. the most I can bend is like 90 degrees, after that, I feel a bad pull in my quadriceps muscles. My quadriceps muscles have swollen just above my knee cap. There is no color or pain. It is just that I feel a bad pull when I bend my knee, its swollen, difficult to walk because of the knee bending problem, there is no pain on the swollen part, but it hurts my quadriceps muscles when I try to bend my knee. Hello, the last few months, ive had pain above my knee cap, if i press on the muscle or tendor that seems to attach to the top of the knee cap, it is quite sore right where it connects to the knee cap, and when walking its ok, but stairs it really is sore, sitting down and getting up, kneeling. Ive tried applying heat to it, then stretching, then applying ice going for walks, stretching, seems to give temporary releif.
Only ONE knee hurts? Which part of your knee hurts? Front, back or sides of knee cap? It only hurts WHILE you run? What is the end result when you are done? Shaking after you run is not uncommon and is usually a sign you were running on empty during your practice. It's the after affect of that. Lactic acid builds up. Do you do anything for recovery? My son's coach instructs them to drink a bottle of chocolate milk for recovery post run.
I also massage my knee and move my knee cap around in tiny circles to unpinch nerves.

I have a hard (boney) bruised lump on the upper right part of my knee cap. It hurts to touch it and put pressure on it when I am walking. It is also swelled (kind of feels like there is fluid in it). I also feel grinding at the top of my knee when I move it and there it pops on the left side. Almost two weeks ago I fell and skinned the same knee pretty badly. The part that got skinned is healing nicely but I don't know what this lump is. Any ideas on what this could be?
