bactroban

does mupirocin help to treat pimples?
Hello, These small bumps can be due to the small irriatted hair follicles or sweat dermatitis due to the clogging of pores. The athletic shorts during basketball could be responsible for this. Keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful.
I have been tested and know I don't have any STD and I shower daily, so I dont understand how all of a sudden after years of never changing my routine that I appear to have acne in that area. It is extremely embarassing and I'm ashamed to be intimate with anyone. When I was younger I had severe facial acne due to poor eating habits, however never in that area. Since then I have changed my eating habits and have clear facial skin, so I assume that can't be the problem either.

Impetigo is not serious, often goes away on its own, and is easy to treat. Mild cases can be handled by gentle cleansing, removing crusts, and applying the prescription-strength antibiotic ointment mupirocin (Bactroban). An allergy like Contact dermatitis can also produce vesicular lesions at the point of contact. Contact dermatitis is caused by exposure to a material to which the person has become hypersensitive or allergic.
I have a terrible rash on each armpit and they resemble acne. Some of the bumps are bigger some smaller. They are not colored, but very itchy. I have a cold, however. What could it be?
I am a 22 yr old Male. I started developing very bad sclap acne in the winter 3 years ago. I had moderately long hair and it would continuously itch with my scalp being mostly red and acne in various places. I tried many shampoos to ease the itching and redness Nioxin, Head and Shoulders,Selsun Blue, Nizoral, Neutrogena T-Gel Extra Strength, non helped. I noticed when my hair was short it helped the redness and acne go away. I went to a dermatologist and he said its just stress.
rarely one will swell and it seems logical to pop it (although probably not at all sensible) and it appears to be a white pus similar to that in acne, but i dont think its acne because the white bumps dont come and go like acne does. please leave some suggestions. also how can this be treated? thanks.
Mild cases of folliculitis are treated with antiseptic washes combined with antibiotics like Mupirocin applied on the areas affected. This should be sufficient to cause a resolution. In more persistent cases oral antibiotics maybe required. ref:http://www.dermatologychannel.net/follicle/folliculitis.

Am 62, female - for sometime have had sm. white bumps on upper lip, around mouth and on chin - white, thread like matter when mashed (no pus) Have VERY dry skin & acne meds really tear up my face. Would be ever so grateful to know what & how to treat.
I continue to experience cyst-like ingrown hairs on my inner thighs, even in the absence of hair removal procedures. It looks similar to cystic acne, though not as painful (except to look at). What are the best ways to prevent ingrown hairs? And, what can I do to treat ingrown hairs when I do get them?? Thanks in advance.
Hello, Back and shoulder acne are quite difficult to treat compared to acne on other parts of the body. Thoroughly wash your body everyday, especially the back and shoulder part using a back brush and frequently change your bed sheet, as it is conducive for bacterial growth. Engage in a diet that is low in sugar and fat but is rich in vitamins. This prevents acne by preventing the buildup of excess oil on the skin. Also refrain from touching or squeezing your shoulder acne .
My dermatologist has not spent adequate time (in my opinion) to diagnose and treat the problem. Possible disorders: 1) Keratosis Pilaris 2) Gram Negative Folliculitus (From long term antibiotic usage) 3) Scalp Folliculitis 4) Intermittent Acne Symptoms: 1) Raised white bumps with red inflammation covering upper arms, shoulders and sometimes on the forearms. A few of these are also on my thighs. 2) The white bumps oftentimes come to the surface like acne.
They have a very tiny white nub on the top, could be dead skin. I once thought they were pimples, so i used an acne product that goes by the name of Clearasil Ultra Vanishing Acne Treatment Cream. It said to Cover the entire affected area with a thin layer. So I did before I went to bed. And it usually was mostly gone by morning. I want to know what this is so I can treat it properly, do you have any ideas of what it is and/or suggestions of how to get rid of it?
Propionibacteria live in the hair follicles of adult skin and contribute to acne. They can invade normal skin which can result in exanthems (rashes). The most common bacteria to cause skin infections is Staphylococcus aureus which causes Folliculitis and Furunculosis (boils). Boil or furuncle is a skin disease caused by the infection of hair follicles, thus resulting in the localized accumulation of pus and dead tissue. The symptoms of boils are red, pus-filled lumps.
Most are painful and the whole area where I get the rash is hot when the problem hits its more severe moments. I do not have an acne problem either. Whatever this is, it is painful and embarrasing. What could be the cause of this and how can I treat it?
Looks like Folliculitis and sometimes active treatment for acne especially with broad spectrum antibiotic can result in gram-ve folliculitis.Treat with specific narrow spectrum for concerned organism ideally after culture sensitivity test.
Hello, From the symptoms that you have described, it sounds like folliculitis. It is true that birth control pills can cause acne in some women. Please keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Please consult a dermatologist in that case.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
I have always had great skin and never had acne and I'm 26 year old. For the past 6 months or so I have had problems with raised bumps that do not itch or anything and some look like they could be a white heads; but when i try to pop them they are not white heads. They started on my back and then I noticed them on my upper arms and chest. I have also had a problem with "sun spots" on my back and chest to before and had that treated with anifungal medication.
They are all stumped and confused, but my current dermatologist believes that my acne may be contributing to this constant skin outbreak, and is treating my acne with Duac, Defferin, and Minocycline each once a day. He believes that if my acne problem gets managed, it will leave room for this unknown skin infection/inflammation to heal. Doesn't seem to be helping so far unfortunately.
) Though frustrating, this is a common occurrence, which often takes several months to sort out and treat. I understand your impatience, especially given what you do for a living, but whenever I treat acne (pretty often, as you can imagine), I always tell patients that it will take several weeks to see results, and that changes in the treatment plan may need to be made at that time. If Accutane, is eventually recommended, that isn't a bad choice either.
I've had these bumps, maybe acne, on my butt for most of my life......what is the cause of these bumps? I also have rosacea. How do I treat this problem or cure it? Is it a dietary issue? Should I see a specialist?
(I've had a few of them in the past, but always thought they were simply acne.) It wasn't until the past week that I suspected some type of infection. I haven't been sexually active, so this can't be attributed to anything of the like. There are small, scattered red spots in addition to blotches that seem discolored (pinkish and red and color, about identical to the individual spots). They DON'T itch, cause irritation, or contain any type of pus or discharge. Everything is basically flat.
they are also on both sides of my buttocks and 2 of them are completely parrellel and seem to rub together when im in motion. they also have never looked like blisters. every time i got them i would just try and pop them and put acne medication on it then they would kind of scab and heal which i thought was normal because thats what happens when i get pimples on my face. so is it possible this could be herpes?
Hi, Nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesions. This seems to be a case of folliculitis from your description. Folliculitis is the inflammation of one or more hair follicles. Folliculitis of the buttocks is common and unimportant. You might try putting an antibiotic ointment like bacitracin or neosporin in your nostrils every night for a month, because staph germs hang out there and sometimes "seed" other body parts. Do not pop these lesions.
My doctor said it was a pimple? or a boil? And he gave me a sample of BenzaClin (an acne medicine) to put on it. It concerns me that he basically assumed it was a pimple. The other thing that concerns me is I have tried many different over=the-counter creams (lotrimin etc.) on the rash which have not worked. Will a prescription cream be that much better? The rash has also given my skin blisters from the itchiness. Will they leave scars? Should I take anything to make the healing process better?
Hi, This could be folliculitis, dermatitis, acne or allergic reaction. In most individuals there are outbreaks of folliculitis from time to time. Folliculitis is infection and inflammation of the hair follicles. The condition may be superficial (i.e., on the surface of the skin) or deep within the follicles. The most common cause of folliculitis is infection by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Folliculitis symptoms can appear independent of infection.
They just show up randomly on my body. I don't think it is acne because they never get a head on them and I don't think it is an allergi reaction to lotion or cologne or the soap pr fabri softener I use because I have been using the same products for quite a while and the bumps/welts just started appearing about two months ago. Like I said, i don't have them all the time and they don't show up everyday, it's just once in a while. If you could help I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot.
