Avatar f tn Well she had a surgery about 6 months ago and we received mupirocin ointment for it. I was curious to find out if the mupirocin ointment would have any affect on her sores? I know it's to fight infection and bacterial growth but I was hoping it would alleviate her pain and sooth her raw hot spot. Thanks in advance!

Avatar f tn I recently called in a old prescription for mupirocin 2% ointment. My question is if I use it as directed will it help clear up these ugly bites? Summer is coming up and I don't want my legs to look bad this summer please help and let me know if the cream will work!
616582 tn?1225068601 The ointment is called Bactroban (Mupirocin). So if you took the bactrim pill for your sinus infection you usually break out all over or at least on the chest. Perhaps you are allergic to the bactroban (mupirocin) ointmnet. Since you applied it locally to the penis area. Personally, I am allergic to the Bactroban (mupirocin) but not the bactrim. Let me know if you have any more quesitons.

Avatar f tn I'm a 31 year old male. About ten days ago I got my back waxed for the first time and shortly after noticed a severe case of folliculitis. I'm trying to avoid oral antibiotics. I've been using hibiclens twice a day, antibacterial wash twice a day, mupirocin in my nares twice a day, started hydrocortisone twice a day today and also a lotion with oats once a day from today. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Can a pretty bad case clear without antibiotics?
Avatar f tn Topical antiseptic treatment and topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment is very useful. If still the lumps persist then specific treatment like antibiotics, vit A supplements, corticosteroid injections, isotretinoin, antiandrogens and sometimes excision and drainage ,laser therapy and radiotherapy are found useful. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn The first doctor (my PCP) did a swab and determined bacteria growth and prescribed me Mupirocin 2% topical ointment. The redness did go down but not completely away. The second doctor (a dermatologist) which I saw almost a year later (more recently) also did a swab and found bacteria growth. He prescribed me Desonide 0.05% for 10 days, along with Cephalexin 500mg (3x/day) for 2 weeks. After the 10 days, I went on Mupirocin for 5 more days.
Avatar n tn The last few day I noticed white heads (small pumps filled with puss) started forming mostly on the pink ink of my tattoo. Then it started to really itch. I went to the doctor and was prescribed Mupirocin ointment & Doxycycline (oral antibiotic). I just started using it today. Hopefully this will work.
Avatar n tn It began to peel while healing and now there is half a nail while the last half grows in. Should I just wait for it all to grow in and should I keep it covered? Does the moisture inhibit the healing. I cover it in case it doesn't catch on something and rip off the remaining half. should I put ointment? It doesn't hurt, just really ugly.

I still have some questions though! 1.) i read that impetigo is highly contagious. How contagious is it? i always wash my hands after i apply the ointment, and I don't touch the area at all, except when im putting the ointment on. 2.
