Avatar f tn Accidentally, I sprayed mupirocin/Dextamethasone 5GM/45ML/0.1%, a compounded nasal preparation, in my eye. I rinsed the eye with water for about one minute. Eye has had 5 retina surgeries, has band kerapothy, and no lens. PCC told me it's ok because the mupirocin is also used for eye preparations. Correct?

Avatar m tn I was prescribed Mupirocin for a non-healing nasal ulcer. I used it for about 2 days then woke up with a bad headache today from the get go. I've tried everything I can. I have taken Tylenol TWICE, Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen in it, nasal spray, a Breathe Right nasal strip (since I do have severe sinus problems.) NOTHING has worked or given any relief.
Avatar f tn Both of you are probably colonized with the MRSA in your nasal passages. Have your primary send a culture of your nasal mucous especially if it is greenish yellow for bacteria. I don't know what your doctor will tell you, but I have eradicated the carrier state for staph aureus in over ten patients. I can't practice medicine over the internet for you, but you could try to contact me if it turns out to be growing there.
Avatar n tn Hi Peedz, Can you please let us know, whether this running nose is of a short duration? Is there any sneezing? Or any allergic symptoms associated with it? In the first instance, if you have used Otrivin nasal drops for more than 5 days, please do stop it. U can use saline nasal drops to relive the nasal congestion. Do not blow the nose forcefully or try to clear the throat forcefully, because there might be submucosal bleeding. I do not know how far the aqueous ointment will help???
Avatar n tn It sounds like you could have atrophic rhinitis (spelling might not be right) I think I read somewhere that you should irrigate nasal passages, use a humidifer when you sleep to keep the nasal membranes moist, also there is a gel that you can buy at walgreens drug store (I don't know where you live or if they have walgreens drug store where you live) anyway it is called "AYR nasal gel" and this is to help keep nasal membranes moist as well.
Avatar f tn breast pads, breast gel inserts (these no matter what feeding method you use), breast pump (if you're nursing).
Avatar m tn the products i used are savlon antiseptic cream, savlon healing gel and aloe vera gel, could you tell me if any of these products work. I used the healing gel overnight and the area on my nose is small than it was before and its been about 2 months now to show some progress, but i am still afraid when it does heal my nose won't be the same again. if you would like to see a photo, i will be uploading one very soon.
Avatar n tn I did two weeks of decolonization (cleaning sheets and clothes daily, a nasal gel, and body and hair wash). I had the nasal gel because I tested positive for holding the bacteria in my nose. So, after the nasal gel, it's still there. What's also strange is I've never passed it on to anyone that I'm aware of. I've been on over 13 rounds of antibiotics, about a year ago I stopped taking them because they weren't helping and were just making me feel more sick.
Avatar f tn Facial pain, fever and nasal discharge are the other symptoms of sinusitis. In addition to discharge nasal bleeding can occur with sinus infections. Nosebleeds can also occur due to trauma, exposure to warm dry air more common in winter months, rhinitis, infections, vigorous blowing, foreign bodies and deviated nasal septum. For chronic sinus infection, typical antibiotic treatment is for 4-6 weeks. A nasal steroid spray is also beneficial as well as oral steroids.
Avatar n tn They have started me on Bactrim DS oral antibiotic and a cream called mupirocin 2% ointment 22GM that you put in the nose with a q-tip.. These sores quickly spread to my neck and are now in my back under the skin as well! My son came home from school with a cut from another child, and a week later developed blisters over that very cut. Then we later found out that boy who cut my son has MRSA and that's how I got it. Please stop touching them, you spread it this way!
Avatar f tn No test have been done, saw family physician, she only suggested a dandruff shampoo. I have been using T- Gel and Demerex.
Avatar m tn No diabetes -- a sample for culture from the nasal area - positive for bacteria (klebsiella oxytoca & Staphylococcus aureus). Have used SULFAMETHOXALOE-TMP-160 TABS, DOXYCYCLINE HYCLATE, & #50 C-MUPIROCIN 5GM IN SAL NASAL spray. The bacteria suceeds in hiding its core from the antibiotics and recurrence of infection has been constant over the past 15 months. Also have used Manuka Honey and Betadine rinses. Is it possible to debride the Nasopharynx?
Avatar m tn I had the turbinate reduction a year and a half ago. I haven't had the issues you've had, but for dryness, have you tried saline nasal gel? It's like a spray, but in gel form. It could also be that the steroids and antihistamines dry you out too much. There are good allergy nasal sprays that can really help. Have you seen an allergist? What about a humidifier for your bedroom? Get a cool mist one. Also, how old is your pillow? Maybe it's time for a new one.
612551 tn?1450022175 As I have already posted, I will try starting tonight to use only a nasal gel and a mouth/throat gel that retards dry-mouth/throat. I have used the later in the past and did find it allowed me to breath through my mouth when sleeping with less discomfort. I'll report back my findings... I may continue to take an oral anti contestant, but so far I haven't found one that provides much relief.
Avatar n tn It will not be drippy while you work--it is relief. It is called Ayr Saline Nasal Gel. I felt it coming on this year and started that right away and I didn't get a sore that stayed so long. Last winter when I suffered like you are I actually dabbed Neosporin with the pain relief right in my nose on the sore area and it took the soreness out so I didn't mess with it so much. It gradually healed. I hope that helps.
Avatar f tn x( anyways, as the title suggests, it DOES NOT go away! ive been using this overnight pimple gel from eskinol with vit. C for it to disappear, but it doesnt seem to do anything but give me stings. i REALLY need help! graduation's fast approaching and i dont want this bump to be attending my grad after party.pls. HELP! S.O.S.!
Avatar f tn Common nosebleeds are generally the result of an irritation to the septum -- dryness, scratching, trauma, inflammation (virus, allergy) -- or simply an anatomic situation where you have vessels that are too close to the surface and easily break open. The easiest thing to try yourself is to get some saline nasal gel (not spray) and apply that liberally. Some medications, like aspirin and ibuprofen can enable bleeding to occur more easily too.
Avatar f tn i have bought a lubricating nasal gel, Secaris, my nose had blood in the morning for a couple times before and i am deshydrated since a long time, not sure how to explain in english but i am breathing better, the tickling and rubbing nose is low because my nose is hydrated and the dust and irritating things in the air dont come into my nose as before, it is not a miracle but Secaris helps with hydratation and allergies, so the root of all of the symptoms is still mystery...
Avatar n tn Interesting, my main personal reason for reading post on this form is I suffer from chronic nasal congestion and have/do use prescription nasal spray, supplemented by saline spray and a nasal gel (forget the name, expensive stuff for over-the-counter), but none of this has caused me to detect smells, if anything I have a low sensitivity to smells. I am coming up on my annual physical and think I'll ask my primary care about seeing and ENT, perhaps I have an infection...
545538 tn?1295992017 Allergy meds should be fine however we get so dehydrated on tx that you might want to consider waiting a little while until the meds get absorbed and then use some saline to clean you nasal passages and water them up a bit. I know when I take any benedryl or flonase type thing I get a bit dehydrated from them as it is........on tx well doesn't sound like fun!
Avatar n tn Not sure if this is related, but I also have been experiencing nasal congestion, it seems like I have been picking my nose constantly. Im not sure how else to explain it. Please any tips would help.
3926262 tn?1350439336 I started using Ayr nasal saline gel and it works wonders!! My nose was completely healed after using it for only 2 days!! I highly recommend it for anyone that is experiencing this irritating side effect!
757137 tn?1347196453 That sent me to the ENT and I now use a humidifying attachment to my O2 concentrator plus a gel on a Q tip to lubricate the nasal passages. I use KY jelly but there are other products also. It's water soluble, not like Vasoline. I don't know if that will help you but it certainly does me--- no more nose bleeds.
