I have gotten cold sores before, though not very often and last week while I had recently got sick I felt a bit of tingling and saw some redness. I immediatley applied cold sore medication and started taking 2000 - 3000 g of lysine. Now 5 days later, there is a bit of barely visible redness on the top corner of my lip, which Im guessing is a barely formed cold sore? Also, a white head just appeared on it. Is it most likely a cold sore?

I am not sexually active at all but lately i have noticed open sores on the inside of my labia. I have been sick for a few days and didnt shower so that may be the cause but im not sure. From your symptoms the possibility of cold sores due to herpes 1 needs to be ruled out. Pain, burning, tingling, or itching occurs at the infection site before the sores appear. Then clusters of blisters erupt which break down. You need to get some investigations like sample from the sores to identify the virus, culture analysis, Tzanck smear, antigen and antibody studies and blood sampling for antibody studies done to confirm the diagnosis.
I think its herpes or cold sores and i got it in the exact location lik in the third picture here.

If you had your blood test within a few weeks of symptoms first appearing, it may have been too early to detect antibodies for HSV1. Hence for the second test, your body may now be making the antibodies.
