Recently, I went to my doctor due to what appeared to be a sore on my penis and he told me from a clinical observation it was genital herpes. Growing up I've always had cold-sores but the frequency of their appearance has dramatically declined since I've gotten older. Moreover, I'm very careful when they do appear.
(I may have blood tested positive for cold sores years ago but I can never recall having an obvious one that blistered with pain)
I have gotten cold sores before, though not very often and last week while I had recently got sick I felt a bit of tingling and saw some redness. I immediatley applied cold sore medication and started taking 2000 - 3000 g of lysine. Now 5 days later, there is a bit of barely visible redness on the top corner of my lip, which Im guessing is a barely formed cold sore? Also, a white head just appeared on it. Is it most likely a cold sore?
Our dachshund/chihuaua has black sores on the bottom of her ears. We took her to the vet and she didn't know what it was. She gave her a shot of some kind and Mupirocin ointment but it didn't do anything. She also suggested that it could be her food so we changed her food and the lady at the pet store recommended Calm Coat (a natural topical spray) but it still isn't healing. How do we find out what it is without spending a lot of money we don't have?
Is there some defining characteristic which can tell me if I get cold sores or something else? I get tenderness around my mouth (not directly on edge); I've had a few big zit-looking things develop around my mouth, which were very hard - sometimes on the edge, sometimes not. I usually had to extract the inside white stuff with a needle. However, they seem to clear up pretty quickly after doing so.

I had fever blisters, cold sores, canker sores et al, my whole life.I'd have an outbreak every three to six months. Funny thing, That all stopped in 2008 when I did SOC Tx. Not really sure why, maybe SOC bolster my immune system enough to knock that one out of me. Failed the treatment but at least something good came out of it. Hope ya feel better.

The thought of herpes scares me and I am confused about how I could possibly have it since my husband is my only sexual partner ever and I am his only sexual partner ever. The doctor said that HSV which causes cold sores can also cause vaginal sores but I have never had a cold sore and the last time my husband had one was before we met. Is there still a possibility that I could have HPV (herpes) or HSV? How do you catch those viruses? I just want to know what is causing this. Thanks!

I have these red bumps with white heads that come once a day and last 2 to 3 days. they look like cold sores. I am afraid it might be herpes because herpes has no cure and also afraid it might be HPV virus. I love to have oral sex with my ex when we was together and that was about a year ago. These bumps came about 4 months ago and wont go away. My doctor said it's just acne but if this is true then why do i get like 5 around my lip area all at once?
I heard that it could be Fordyce spots, but those conditions to not match mine. I have tried medicine for cold sores, but it did not help either. Sometimes they hurt, other times they are just annoying and irritating. I have them on both corners of my mouth, and I feel like they are slowly spreading.
