Avatar n tn He has 2 boys from his previous marriage. The youngest has a lot of skin issues and has contracted MRSA. Since meeting my husband, we have all had bouts with boils caused by MRSA. We've tried just about everything.. and we really just deal with them now. Get on antibiotics, put the mupirocin in the nose, etc. I had a couple boils over a year ago.. then didn't have anymore for probably 10 months.. then here in the past 3 months..

Avatar m tn Hi all, I have had this nasty skin infection for over 4 years now that won't go away. I believe I got it at a university dorm (which had black mold and other unsanitary things). It forms primarily on my arms as red boils (generally comes to the surface like a pimple) with inflammation and pus, takes months to heal, and quickly multiplies into multiple sores. Though generally on the arms, it has also spread to my chest, legs, and even cheek in past (active sores currently on arms).
Avatar m tn The lesions lOOK just like what I see online for impetago and the derm did just give me mupirocin topical so he must be considering it possible impetago.......it might, might be improving ???? on this the third day of mupirocin but if it is it is SLOW improvement. How long should it take to know? I have lots of trouble with oral antibiotics, including anaphalaxis so i was not given any at this time. I am worried the topical is not enough.
Avatar m tn The physician could not tell whether it was a bite, but was more concerned that it might be community-based MRSA and gave me a prescription for Mupirocin. I went to a dermatologist on Monday and again she was not sure what it was. The first lesion is nearly healed, but I've had about 3 others appear on the same arm which are healing. Yesterday I discovered a larger lesion, which was scaly, circular with the small hole in it.
Avatar f tn After about a week of itching I noticed that they had become a lot worse and had spread to my scrotum and my penis. The doctor labeled it as a form of mrsa and prescribed me Bactria ds 2 a day and mupirocin 2% creme. I have been using these for almost 5 days now and have seen no changes. I have also been using hydrocortisone frequently thoughout the day. The bumps are on my hands, feet, buttocks, waistline, arms, legs, and genitals. The worst bumps occur on genitals, waistline, and buttocks.
Avatar f tn t bad and I ignored it. The next day I noticed it was sore and felt irritated so I examined it and saw puffy redness and a small "pimple" that looked almost like what was on my leg. Last night I noticed that right in my right groin area (cut is right side also) that it was swollen and tender and I felt a bump which I am assuming is my swollen lymph node there... is that right? and if so is it dangerous? I finally have put it all together.
Avatar f tn I also had MRSA and have just found out that I am a MRSA carrier although, I am not infected at the moment.I also have RA and take 7.5 mg of Mexotraxate one time per week. My new orthopedic surgeon called my RA doctor and said hey, need to back off the Mexotraxaate and ALL steriod shots until the foot has healed. My RA doctor concurred. Now, the Orthopedic surgeon was okay with me taking the Medrol which is "Tablets contain methylprednisolone which is a glucocorticoid.
Avatar f tn My doctor first put me on Bactrim, and I had a rash all over my body and developed a fungal infenction as well. This was on day 8 of 10 on Bactrim. The doctor switched me to Keflex, and this time, that same day I got another rash all over my body. Then, she gave me a cream call Muciprocin, but i've been using it for over a week and see no improvement, although no rashes. Has this happened to anyone? Are there other antibiotics out there?
Avatar n tn The doctor said it was strep throat, and the nurse practitioner says its something called MRSA. I should get the swab results back on Monday! Everything I have read, and all the pictures I have seen, do suggest that this is MRSA after-all.. You have to tell the doctor to swab the nose because this can be a very fatal thing! They have started me on Bactrim DS oral antibiotic and a cream called mupirocin 2% ointment 22GM that you put in the nose with a q-tip..
Avatar m tn Upon our own research we are not sure if it could be MRSA, and after 4 days of trying her prescribed Mupirocin on my rash, it seems to have increased the bumps on my hand. At this point I'm really not to sure what it could be. I can not tell if it is increased by anything specific or something that is more serious. Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated!
5828316 tn?1375208180 This time I sought help from my medical dr who cultured and ran test after test finally to tell me the MRSA had colonized on my skin. I went to using hibiclens every other day, bleach soaks still 3times a week and then eating mass amounts of yogurt as to keep the germs I DO need up while trying to eliminate the bad ones that are causing all the ruckus.
Avatar m tn Could it be molluscum contagiosum? Sounds like you need to see a dermatologist. Google that and see if it looks like it. Good luck!

Avatar n tn I have had 1 culture of the pustule done in India which showed that the organism was staphylococcus.(No MRSA screen done with it).My current folliculitis is worse and it seems to get worse and it seems to recur very often after a very short period of relief .(it seems to recur within 3-4 days of stopping antibiotics). So I have no option than to continue the antibiotics. I am currently using oxytetracycline antibiotic.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 50 yr old man. I was promiscuous a week prior, I had a bad sore through about a week after, I noticed white streaks on my tonsils. For about 24 hours I felt run down, fatigued, loss of appetite. But I have recovered over the last week with antibiotic treatment. During that time I noticed a red bump on my chin and on my cheek, that I accidentally cut while shaving. It got infected. I cut myself again while shaving on a flat skin, yet I noticed another bump that formed.
Avatar f tn Follow the package insert. And see if they go away. Mupirocin (Bactroban) topical will also kill MRSA (I think this is prescription only). So there are lots of topicals that can kill it if you actually got it. They probably would give you an oral pill if you are not allergic to sulfa drugs Bactrim works and many other antibiotics. So try not to worry just because it could be MRSA. I think you just have pimples.
Avatar m tn ALTMAN A new, highly drug-resistant strain of the “flesh-eating” MRSA bacteria is being spread among gay men in San Francisco and Boston, researchers reported on Monday. In a study published online by the journal Annals of Internal Medicine, the bacteria seemed to be spread most easily through anal intercourse but also through casual skin-to-skin contact and touching contaminated surfaces.
1237007 tn?1267979222 Schiano, Rene has been admitted twice to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital with pneumonia (the first time) and now, with MRSA related lung condition. He is being treatd with Vancomyzion and Zofyn. Naturally this compromises his transplant, but I am very worried about the implications in terms of him being able to fight this off, and get better for his transplant. We have a living donor who is very close to getting the go-ahead from the team.
Avatar n tn I have had surgeries yearly since 2004. I had complications with my bariatric surgery and ended up with MRSA. I have had my gall bladder removed, abdominalplasty, and a c section. I am scheduled for a inner thigh lift next week. I haven't given it much thought about the dangers and my history of MRSA until co workers starting vocalizing their concern about my healthy and quite frankly dying. My surgeon is well aware of my history of MRSA and complications of surgeries.
Avatar f tn I have MRSA (found through colonization of urine due to UTI). I have had chronic UTI's for years now and my dr just treats them with antibiotics everytime and does an ultrasound to make sure nothing serious going on in there like cancer or kidney disease. I do not have a skin infection....I am experiencing UTI symptoms, fatigue, my whole body is very sore and achy especially my neck and shoulders and lower back. Have been through 2 weeks of Bactrim DS and three days after I finished meds..
Avatar m tn I worked as an attendant, for people confined to wheel-chairs, and many of them had bed sores, or and MRSA. I wore gloves, and washed and washed myhands after work, but I did finally end up getting a rly painful sore right inside my nostril, that didn't reapond to amoxicillin, or prescription antibiotic cream, I had to take a high-powered antibiotic, and after that, I did change jobs. My advice would be careful to never pick your nose, because staph lives on finger-tips.
Avatar f tn They are researching ADEP and using this together with antibiotics linezolid and rifampicin and this eradicates for the first time persistant MRSA. So, it is something to hope for in the near future. In the meantime keep getting treated and look for clincial trails for this. If you want to read about it the link is: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/11/131113144109.htm If you have any more questions feel free I will tray to answer them.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with MRSA and been treated three times rounds of Bactrim. I currently have an outbreak of the MRSA sores I need to pick up another round of Bactrim and now on the inside of my two index fingers the skin is peeling like a blister was there and then popped. The raw skin beneath hurts like a blister was there, however, there were no blisters on my fingers. Is this related to the MRSA?
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Mupirocin for a non-healing nasal ulcer. I used it for about 2 days then woke up with a bad headache today from the get go. I've tried everything I can. I have taken Tylenol TWICE, Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen in it, nasal spray, a Breathe Right nasal strip (since I do have severe sinus problems.) NOTHING has worked or given any relief.
Avatar n tn m afraid I agree with the Doctors on this. MRSA is a bacteria which lives mainly on the skin and in the nose in around 30% of the UK population alone. It is normally harmless because it can't get through the skin unless you cut yourself and even then your immune system would have to be weak to not fight it off. So, out of hospital, people are less likely to be affected than those patients in hospital with open wounds and weakened immune systems. MRSA would make them very ill indeed.
