This will give you some idea of the commitment and time involved..allthough of course every trial is different and will have a different protocol.

Avatar f tn It is widely accepted that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings are not totally specific for the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. White matter lesions that mimic those of multiple sclerosis may be detected in both normal volunteers and patients harbouring different diseases. " Virtually all the characteristic features of multiple sclerosis are sometimes encountered in other conditions affecting predominantly the white matter.
1210403 tn?1277953086 My one piece of advise would be to keep a journal of your symptoms and pain. This will help your doctor out more than anything. It also keeps you from forgetting something very important that your doctor may need to know.

Avatar m tn In a second study with a 5.6-year follow-up of 74 patients with optic neuritis, 22% developed clinical multiple sclerosis (Jacobs et al 1997); 76% of these had abnormal MRIs initially. Of note, half of the patients who did not develop clinical multiple sclerosis also had abnormal MRIs at onset. In a third study, optic neuritis with no MRI lesions led to multiple sclerosis at 5 years in 16%, versus 51% of patients with 3 or more MRI lesions (Beck 1997).
Avatar m tn One of them said it is all due to ur anxiety ( Cause i do not have any bladder problems and dizziness, numbness tingling all is due to anxiety) but one said its Multiple Sclerosis+ anxiety. Avatar m tn If you have a sports injury, you can take medicine to reduce the inflammation. I mentioned staying out of a hot tub. I just want to say that I would only do this if your doctor hasn't mentioned anything to you yet. If your doctor tells you to take warm baths, then go with whatever your doctor says. I doesn't sound like MS. In the remote possibility that you do have it, it doesn't mean that you won't be walking, or even that you have to quit lifting.

Avatar f tn Atarax and Neurontin (Gabapentin) have not helped. Of course, reactions to medicine vary. I am in the process of withdrawing from Neurontin as per the 2-week schedule provided by the nurse in my MS Neuro’s office. I do not want to start another medication at this point. (MS Nurse: “Let’s see, maybe you should try …. Or, how about …?”) I want my body free of these medications. I am going for MRIs this week and hopefully, to a new MS Neuro shortly thereafter (even though out of network).
Avatar m tn I did read your journal and we have a lot of similarities. I did lose control on my right hand one day while I was typing, the muscles were slaking for 3 seconds Did you get another MRI, to see if there are new lesions?
