Avatar f tn I am curious. In the area in which I live, PAF or autonomic dysfunctions in general are not well known in the medical community. My doctor (the one I have finally stuck with) finally realized that there was an autonomic issue to my medical problems, but admitted that he was not well versed in them over all. The neurologist that finally diagnosed me stated that while she can diagnose it, she does not treat it or manage the patients she diagnoses.
Avatar f tn t interested in having kids till recently. My question is can I use Petrol fueled Power equipment, herbicides, dig, heavy lifting and manual weeding?
967168 tn?1477584489 Someone suggested for me to look into MSA (Multiple System Atrophy) I found it on Dinet but can't really find much info here. Is it related to ANS issues? does anyone else have this? I know it's a neurodegenerative disease; so do you see a neurologist for it? I really thought my nerve damage in my arms/hands was going to be because of my spine but after CTA's the dr says no because I have no damage or problems in my cervical spine.
Avatar m tn i have read an article stating how some people may have been exposed to the hiv virus (and hepatitis) because the hospital didnt use the proper sterilization on colonoscopy equipment. and another similar article that stated those that underwent ear, nose, and throat treatments were exposed too. how likely is someone to catch the hiv virus from a situation like this?
Avatar m tn The article you reference makes no mention of HIV - that is because HIV cannot be transmitted that way. If you have other questions about the safety of using dental equipment, we suggest visiting the Dental Health forum, as this forum is HIV specific.
Avatar m tn Tattoo artists/piercers are trained on safety measures regarding bloodborne pathogens and do not reuse needles and they sterilize equipment between all customers.
Avatar m tn My symptoms started 9 years ago and I have had unexplained severe anxiety attacks, irregular heart rate, all of a sudden low blood pressure, digestive problems, dizziness, and the different symptoms come in a cluster at different times, I have heard that I may need to seek help for Dysautonomia, or MSA, how is this diagnosed? How do you know the difference?
Avatar n tn Power-generating equipment, arc welding equipment and powerful magnets (as in medical devices, heavy equipment or motors) can inhibit pulse generators. Patients who work with or near such equipment should know that their pacemakers may not work properly in those conditions. Cellphonelphones available in the United States (less than 3 watts) don't seem to damage pulse generators or affect how the pacemaker works.
Avatar m tn The job site is extremely dusty as well. During these exposures I was not wearing a respirator. After looking at the safety data sheet I saw that some of the material properties of this refractory are carcinogens. Doing some internet research (trying to filter good and bad data), this material is considered like asbestos; this has me extremely anxious. After looking up the symptoms of exposure, I've noticed a bit of a scratchy throat and some minor coughing.
572651 tn?1530999357 If you saw my email inbox you might be surprised at some of the mail I receive. I have signed up on distribution lists for many medical sites, including Nursing Times from the UK. I received an announcement today about an upcoming convention in LONDON, that may be of interest to some of you. This convention/conference is September 29-30 and the registration is FREE. I wish I could go, but its a bit far to commute. Some of you who live in the UK may be interested, though.
Avatar f tn I am so scared:) I was at a discount store and poked my hand with a safety pin that was taken apart, basically mangled. It looked like somebody had twisted it. It was on top of a clothing rack. It drew blood on me. The store had just opened and I am wondering if someone had purposely placed it there. Can I get hiv fro it and if not can you explain why? Thank you I am so scared!!!!
Avatar n tn The diagnosis of multiple system atrophy (which I will abbreviate MSA) is made based on the presence of specific clinical symptoms and physical examination findings including but not limited to rigidity (increased tone in the muscles), lack of postural reflexes with frequent falls, blood pressure and heart rate fluctuations (what is termed autonomic instability), sometimes tremor or imbalance, and other features.
697167 tn?1259569969 I was diagnosed with POTS 3 yrs ago. 2 weeks after my son was born I had my first "fainting episodeā€ according to my family I fell on to the floor with my eyes open but I was non responsive for about 2-3 min. I felt dizzy off and on after that but when I started working a job in the ER as a PCA I started having issues with it more frequently. My mother who was a trauma nurse manager there hooked me up to a monitor shortly after one of my episodes and my heart rate was 160bpm plus.
475300 tn?1312423126 Since were talking about tattoos-I was a tattoo artist in the 1980s and early 90s.One way hepC is transmitted via tattoo is interesting. Even though everything (equipment ,etc.) has been medically sterilized in an autoclave, there's a place some inexperienced tattooists miss. First, I fill a small cup with ink, and then begin the tattoo. I dip the bloody needles into the ink, and back to your skin. No problem there. Now, I run low on ink and refill the cup.
Avatar m tn It sounds like your doctor uses the same sort of equipment that used to be routine (20+ years ago), i.e. a sterile bacteriological loop. These were the norm among many STD specialists before modern disposalble swabs becamse widely available. And my guess the scalpel blade was disposable, single-use. There is no reasonable possibility the doctor does not carefully sterilizes the loop (and scalpel, if not disposablet) between patients.
Avatar m tn Third, almost all phlebotomy and injection equipment are now manufactured to be a ONE use only item, with safety features that actually render the equipment unable to be used a second time. If you cannot accept this, then get yourself some professional help.
2168213 tn?1357062544 I'm 12wks now and our sex life has been great. But my husband wanted to spice it up and bought me dildo/vibrator. I haven't had that and never experienced it. Anyone use it? Is it safe for the baby? I definitely don't want to risk the safety of my baby with my sexual pleasure. My little one is precious!!!
Avatar n tn Not only will they stay in your system, they will act like asbestos particles and eventually you may end up on a respirator. Yup. They NEVER go away and the problems often don't surface until after two to twenty years. Well, you won't ALWAYS wind up on a respirator, but snorting vicodin is plan stupid. Often a "snorter" will end up with severe asthma and on daily inhalers and prednisone. It is a horrible death. But let's look at the bright side.
Avatar m tn Hello Naomi, Please have a THOROUGH work-up done. Including a dental exam. I just found out that I have oral cancer. It caused paraneoplastic syndrome, which is a type of dysautonomia that happens when your body starts fighting cancer, infection, or even a smaller issue. Sometimes we wake up with neck pain and think it's just 'sleeping funny' when it could be a pinched nerve causing it. I'm not trying to worry you about cancer or anything.
Avatar n tn dont know if its related to the spasms in my neck but I also seem to have spasms in other parts of my body too. I have been diagnosed with msa now and the torticollis is a symptom that can be from that disease. like cmf3225 I too would see a neuro who specialises in movement disorders. I finally did a couple of years ago and I am on a few medications but mostly for pain and to ease spasms. the main treatment I get is botox injections every 3mths.
5466288 tn?1410485185 I did some research on this issue since I really needed an answer. What I came up with was Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA).Sounds like what my mother was suffering with at the time of her death. But she was in the late stages.
