645800 tn?1466860955 Yesterday when I went to the VA I got very stressed out and soon found that I was developing TN pain on the left side of my face. once I got home and slept for about 15 hours the TN stopped. This was purely stress from my PTSD symptoms. I know that stress can aggravate MS symptoms, but I'm looking for research or other documentation of this fact to present to the VA so that they will treat the effects of this stress as being service connected.
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome, Sorry i don't know what it could be, doesn't really sound like MS and i'm not sure stress alone would be an answer either, but if you've not been sleeping over the last 6 weeks, that would definitely affect cognitive and balance hmmm have you considered things like medications, vitamin deficientcy etc? Sorry to not be of much help.......
523927 tn?1257018704 So along with the bunch of symptoms that MS can cause, is neck pain/discomfort one of them? This week for me has been some neck pain, not excrutiating, just mild to maybe moderate at worst. Along with the discomfort is the sensation of a throbbing vein in the side of the neck. This has been more on my right side, but sometimes on the left. And with the neck pain, the other main symptom this week has been the constant numbness/tingling in my right foot and a little bit on the left side.
Avatar f tn Stress makes everything worse including MS symptoms. My symptoms get worse but mostly from cumulative stress rather than sudden unexpected types of stress. Illness makes symptms worse too.
567489 tn?1297250714 Hoarseness can be related to MS and several MS mimics and other conditions. Hoarseness can be a less common symptom according to the National MS Society. Avatar f tn m not sure where to turn so thank you in advance for any guidance. My 26 year old son is exhibiting symptoms of what sounds like MS. He is a current graduate student in an allied health field. In October 2016 he was diagnosed with vestibular neuritis. At that time he had sudden onset of vertigo, nystagmus, tinnitus. Was treated with a steroid and seemed to resolve in about a week.
Avatar f tn t hurt) feels like electrify is going thru my legs -i have had RLS ( i call hibby jeebies) for a long time now -i went to the dr about a month ago because i have been anxious for awhile now, stress at home and work, and he put my on low dose of zoloft and i thought my symptoms would go away because i thought they were associated to stress but my anxiety went away but nothing else.
Avatar m tn You ask a very good question about stress. Many symptoms of diseases frankly, stress us out. This is not to say that your symptoms are due from stress or that they cannot be a cause of stress. It takes a very thorough Dr to get to the bottom of the cause. I can say for me, that when I went to my MD she said my problem was "classic stress." Since I didn't and still don't go to her very often, I said "this cannot be stress." I can't talk, walk, etc.
1831849 tn?1383228392 I think someone else on here (maybe Lulu?) posted a scientific study on those with MS that were going thru a stress mngmt program vs those with MS that weren't going thru the stress mngmt. The ones not going thru the stress mngmt actually had more lesions over the course of time than the ones who were going thru stress mngmt.
11079760 tn?1483386130 I truly think stress is aggravating your symptoms. I understand wanting the holidays to be perfect for your children but you have new limits this year and plowing through them will not be good for you at all. Is there a way to do some "new" traditions and have the kids more involved in things that would give you extra family time and much needed help. Maybe some can even be removed (more habit than necessity?).
Avatar n tn Could the virus I caught be causing these symptoms? I am under quite a bit of stress-could these symptoms be stress related? I have a 12 year old son and two daughters aged 3 years and 10 months and I am very frightened of the possibility of having multiple sclerosis (which of course adds more stress). Please help! Thank you!

Avatar f tn s two non specific lesions or T2 flares seen plus one oligocolonal band in my CSF results. 1st neuro I saw in January said not MS at this stage but probably stress related after going deaf. Second neuro I saw in March said probably MS and goi g to be referred to MS neuro now.
Avatar f tn m mad or stressed I constantly feel sick to my stomach. Your MS could be coming back though some ladies MS come back with a vengeance later in the pregnancy!
Avatar f tn Im beginning to think that these are the early symptoms of MS. Please help because I am beyond frightened. and the more I worry about these symptoms the worse they seem to get.
Avatar f tn Since I have been having these tests and looking at MS I have definitely focused more on these symptoms and at times too much. Not all can be related. Stress can cause these things too. MS symptoms can get worse with stress and I notice all these twitches and things much more when I am stressed. Good luck with your tests. Aimee.
9264354 tn?1408743148 But then again it took me six years to be diagnosed with Cancer. I made the mistake of waiting until I was diagnosed with MS to start addressing symptoms. I suffered needlessly for years. I have muscle spasms all the time. In my neck, back, arms, and legs. Especially if I stand too much. Many people with MS are on Baclofen. I take Zanflex because Bacfolfen does not work for me. I also stretch a lot. You have a lot on your plate. I used to work the mid night shift and it was hard on me as well.
Avatar f tn t having what I thought of as MS symptoms at the time. My PCP brought up MS before I even told him about that. I think whatever comes of the MRI, I will find another neurologist even though this one is considered one of the best & developed a software program to diagnose early onset Alzheimer's. Thank you for responding.
Avatar n tn Right, "There is no causal link between stress and MS." There is a causal relationship between stress and relapse in people with MS (even though it is only a small one.) Mult Scler. 2006 Aug;12(4):453-64. Relationship between stress and relapse in multiple sclerosis: Part I. Important features. Brown RF, Tennant CC, Sharrock M, Hodgkinson S, Dunn SM, Pollard JD. 923105 tn?1341827649 t cure anything we have related to MS, but can give relief to the symptoms. Your double vision would not have been halted if you had started 'roids sooner. Can you get in soon to see someone? Stress is definitely an enemy, as you well know. Now that you've come back to the forum, I hope we will see you around more often.
Avatar f tn Whilst I had strong reactions to the caloric test in my right ear (vertigo) - both warm and cold - I had virtually nothing in my left. Do these symptoms combined with double vision for the last 8 years suggest ms? I have also had several spells of forgetfulness including forgotteing the sentence I am saying, saying words the wrong way round (e.g., shoffee cop or coffee shop) and looking at an object and not being able to say it.
Avatar n tn But again MS can have all known symptoms. Your worry about MS will itself increase the twitching in the muscles. You should get yourself assessed by a Neurologist and get any further tests if necessary. Keep me posted.
Avatar f tn Does anyone happen to know if those with MS are more susceptible to stress fractures?
Avatar f tn s and only just researched after finding out by the MRI tech that Ms is what my doctor was looking for. All my symptoms fit for MS. My symptoms seemed to have started back wards compared to most. My face symptoms have been last and only here and there. Could I have M.S with with a clear MRI? My therapist said that stress can also mimic a neurological disorder. My husband thinks im making it up. Im at my wits end. I just want something to manage my symptoms and pain. help!
