Avatar f tn ve been to my pcp numerous times over the last 5 years or so with different symptoms and complaints, like severe pain and spasm in neck and back. 6 months ago I was in the er with back spasms so severe I couldn't walk followed up with my doc just received stronger muscle relaxers. I was already taking muscle relaxers for probably 5 years. I was already going to PT 2-4 times a week for over a year.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome, In relation to MS, the electric zap feeling is called L'hermittes and it's experienced when the neck is bent forward but just like most sx's associated with MS, there are usually many other more common causes too. Strangely but today's technology related postural behaviours eg gaming, texting etc, can even cause these zaps, due to altering the curvature of the neck.
Avatar f tn m not a doc, but I would suspect you chiari malfomation as the cause of your symptoms before I suspected MS resulting from a Vitgamin D deficiency. There is a connection between Vit. D and MS, but ot hasn't been determined whether the deficiency contributes to the onset of MS or MS causes the deficiency. All by it self a Vit. D deficiency does not indicate MS. As alex suggested, I would seek the advice of a neurologist.
Avatar m tn Maybe MS, maybe not MS. It wouldn't really be considered a symptom of MS but it sure could be related to spasticity. It could be another problem entirely too, so you need to get it checked out. I had a recent increase in spasticity and upper extremity weakness with an exacerbation. One of the worst spots for spasms was the muscles of my neck. I specifically remember wishing I had one of those collars to wear to help hold the weight of my head.
Avatar f tn I am going tomorrow for the results of my MRI of Brain and Spine, VEP (visual evoked potential) and EMG. Of course I have alot of anxiety because I have exhibited several MS symptoms. About 20 years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and I am hypothyroid. My questions is would anyone be willing to tell me some of the symptoms they were experiencing prior to your MS diagnosis?
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome, what you describe doesn't sound like a neurological condition like MS to me, "Neck pain, lower back pain and burning thigh pain and numbness both thighs mid and outer" could be suggestive of a structural spinal issues (eg slipped disc, disc degeneration, stenosis etc) and impinging the peripheral nervous system....
487889 tn?1232887189 I may have asked this before, but I am having a terrible time with stiffness in my neck the past three days. Is this something that comes along with MS? I have had it before off and on. It just feels like the sides of my neck are on a drawstring and somebody's pulling it tight. It's making me very uncomfortable and irritable. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn to the head from bony structures, muscles, and other soft tissue in the neck and shoulders. Symptoms are usually one-sided and include: precipitation of head pain by neck movement or awkward neck positions, head pain when external pressure is applied to the neck or occipital region, restricted range of motion of the neck, and neck, shoulder and arm pain. Treatment for cervicogenic headache includes physical therapy, medications, behavioral therapy, and other modalities.

Avatar f tn Yes, I had this stiff neck exactly how you described it three months after the onset of neurological symptoms. Not only stiff but painful if I tried to turn my head. It was worse on my right side too! It lasted for about two weeks and recurred over a period of about one year. I haven't had it lately, but sometimes I still feel that wierdness in my neck when I turn it but not as sevier as it was.
Avatar n tn I have heard that there is such a thing as phantom MS, which is only diagnosable if experiencing symptoms at time of tests, could this be what I have? What besides MS could be causing these symptoms that seem to be progressing? Do you have any other ideas?
473703 tn?1207757754 I was just hopeing that some one can tell me some of the symptoms of Ms. I was in the hospital due to stroke like symptoms spend a few days there and had many heart test done, come to find out that I did not have a stroke , well that's a good thing I thought. And then a Neuro came in to see me, and told me that on my MRI he had seen somethings that he was not happy with, He said I think you might have Ms, and that he wanted to do a few more test.
Avatar m tn Im just always behind the computer searching for diseases i could have and now im really thinking i have MS. because a lot of my symptoms match with the ones of MS. i dont have anyone in my family with MS. I dont have any twitching and i dont wake up with numbed hands or feet. But i do feel tired most the time. Maybe just because im not an active person and spend a lot of time behind the computer and not doing any type of exercises.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with 2 ms lesions and am taking Avonex every week. The last few days, I have been experiencing pelvic tremors. Can this be related to ms?
Avatar m tn I am VERY intune with my psyche. I would positively know if anxiety were causing all my symptoms. My neck and torso were severely jerking for at least 2-3 weeks before slowing down at all. It has been 5 months now and still I never know when I will jerk, but I sort of feel a sensation in the neck area before I jerk. Anyway, I am lost until my neurologist appt (2nd opinion) on 3-16. You can see my post with all my symptoms.
523927 tn?1257018704 So along with the bunch of symptoms that MS can cause, is neck pain/discomfort one of them? This week for me has been some neck pain, not excrutiating, just mild to maybe moderate at worst. Along with the discomfort is the sensation of a throbbing vein in the side of the neck. This has been more on my right side, but sometimes on the left. And with the neck pain, the other main symptom this week has been the constant numbness/tingling in my right foot and a little bit on the left side.
Avatar n tn I suggest you go to our MS Forum and talk to the folks over there. They will have a much greater understanding of your symptoms than we do. We can understand your anxiety, but we don't know much about MS and the symptoms it can manifest. Please go talk to the pros, OK? If you still need help with anxiety, we are right here.
Avatar f tn ) Three doctors, including a general neurologist and a neurologist who specializes in MS, attributed the symptoms I had to the MS. So In my experience those symptoms are possible with MS. The pain in the upper back and with bending head forward has been attributed to pinched nerves from central and lateral stenosis of my cervical spine. The numbness, tingling, and pain in my hands and arms can be from either or both. I think more often it’s from my neck.
Avatar f tn i experience numbness in my hands a lot during my sleep--primarily in my pinkies and ring fingers on both hands. i can reposition my neck and/or arm and the numbness goes away. for example, last night my pinky on my left hand was completely dead and i moved my arm and feeling returned. is this typical for MS symptom presentation?
Avatar f tn Welcome to the club! I can't believe how many people I see posting MS symptoms with clean MRI's. At some point I think the DR. would take a look that there something out there that they are not catching. I have had MS symptoms for 6 years. three MRI's and three neurologist . Not One Dr has helped me, or has been interested in anything as soon as the MRI's come back clean. My only suggestion is check to see if you have lyme disease.
Avatar n tn Over the last couple weeks, I have had sudden changes where bending my neck causes my foot to get a vibration sensation. If I bend neck too quickly, I get a light electric shock sensations own my arms into each and every finger. I get the same buzz feeling in spots on my arms and legs. Occasionally, I also have been getting shiver like sensations in patches. So just my arm, or my leg, or part of my arm/leg. Then there's the tiniest twitches in my feet that are constant and driving me nuts.
Avatar f tn And my tremors are back too I also have a sore neck that when I tip my head forward sends nasty pain down my body. I am thinking this could be a relapse or something like that, I had Cis in May 2013. But that was headache, right side weakness and some tremor.
Avatar f tn I had no visible lesions, but had some symptoms that were consistent with MS. I was finally diagnosed with Sjögren's Syndrome with neurological tendencies, 2 years after my initial MS diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Im not saying that it is definately MS - Im sure it could be any number of different things - but with your symptoms, MS really should be investigated, just incase. It's unsettling to hear that a neurologist of any calibur would overlook ms with some of those symptoms you've listed. So, dont panic or anything, but look into MS, along with other possible diagnoses, with a new neurologist. Good luck to you!
