Common Questions and Answers about Ms symptoms knee

multiple-sclerosis

Avatar f tn Can it happen in MS? Yes it can. Your physical history suggests that your knee pain has something to do with inflammation around your knee and you need to get back with the doctor that replaced your knees. Your Meniere's should be followed up by an ear, nose and throat doctor. I know that you are already on Rebif, so may I suggest that you find out if dizziness is one of the side effects? I hope that others will come along to try and give you some more insight than I am able to give.
Avatar f tn m not sure where to turn so thank you in advance for any guidance. My 26 year old son is exhibiting symptoms of what sounds like MS. He is a current graduate student in an allied health field. In October 2016 he was diagnosed with vestibular neuritis. At that time he had sudden onset of vertigo, nystagmus, tinnitus. Was treated with a steroid and seemed to resolve in about a week.
Avatar f tn I am going tomorrow for the results of my MRI of Brain and Spine, VEP (visual evoked potential) and EMG. Of course I have alot of anxiety because I have exhibited several MS symptoms. About 20 years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and I am hypothyroid. My questions is would anyone be willing to tell me some of the symptoms they were experiencing prior to your MS diagnosis?
Avatar f tn Are MS symptoms lasting or do they come and go? I have numbness in my right hand I experience for a while that eventually goes away. I also sometimes wake up with numbness in my right thigh...it doesn't extend past my knee, and it doesn't last either. I also have visual symptoms where I my vision goes completely black for a period of time but comes back.
Avatar m tn Hi, last Summer before my MS diagnosis I woke with a small amount of pain in my right knee. I went to work but by the end of the day, it was excruciating! Like you, there was no swelling and it was not in the joint. I can't say that I felt electric shock like you, mine was different. I could stand or lay perfectly still and not hurt, but to try to lift my foot to walk or move in any way was unbearable!
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome, Your question has found it's way to the MS community and I personally don't think MS would be the obvious answer, because there are other more common causes. I did a quick google and whilst MS came up first (it usually does), it didn't seem to be specific enough to really pin down, things like RLS, vascular issues, peripheral neuropathy and even mental health came up.
Avatar f tn It appears your MRI benchmark tests have not indicated ms. We also know when you google almost any symptoms, ms comes up 99% of the time It is often a long and hard road to prove ms, many mimic diseases have to be ruled out first, and your tests so far are not indicating ms. I'd suggest a neuro to rule out any other problems and just maybe fibro meds might help you We know how hard it us to be where you are, many of us could just substitute our situations exactly where you are!
634733 tn?1316625992 I had a further meeting with my neurologist last week to discuss the symptoms I had experienced in my legs. I was diagnosed with mild MS in December last year and during the diagnosis phase we had not considered my knees / legs as I had been told by my GP it was a physical injury, caused by overuse. The neuro has now ordered an MRI of the spine, a full neurological exam (it did not include my legs last time) and an LP if the first 2 tests are not conclusive.
927832 tn?1244145547 The doctors just called it a bone scan, although it could have been an MRI of some sort. I don't know if its MS or not, it would seem like after a year and a half it would have progressed or I would have seen a variety of symptoms. The reason i even suspect that it could be be MS is this post: I've had MS for 22 years and over the last 5 my right knee has locked up and my right foot turns outward. I also have foot drop in the leg.
Avatar f tn After notifying my neurologist and walking around like a duck for nearly a week (I thought I was on my way to being bedridden), my neurologist came across this (or very similar condition) in one of her MS books. She titled my knee buckling problem as a "paroxysmal positive motor disturbance". Her cure was to put me on Dilantin~an anti-seizure medicine.
Avatar f tn has helped THAT knee some, but other symptoms continue so went to rhuematoloist.. diagnois B12, folic acid and vit d severe defiencies and was placed on folic acid vit d pills with weekly b12 shots.. but wondering if this could be just masking a MS problem.. I did also have ankle problems at 25 so severe they would turn black from bruising and was off on disability for 12 weeks..and always had a fatigue problem with high white cell count..but this is a first for low b12..
Avatar f tn I have MS, and associated pain in my knee from spasticity in my leg. Happy New Year!
Avatar f tn Usually MS symptoms go away during pregnancy. If you're having neurological symptoms, perhaps it's something else - thyroid or vitamin deficiency.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am nearly 20 yrs of age and active/generally healthy but experiencing a few symptoms that match that of MS (progressive) and have done for a good year or two; I get a tingling feeling from my left elbow all the way into my small finger everyday on a regular basis and I also experience a weak feeling in my right hand and arm regularly so much so I cant clasp my fist - I also drop things alot with no prior warning.
Avatar m tn My ANA came back mildly elevated (now its normal) otherwise CRP, sedrate normal I started my gluten free diet 7 weeks ago and 6 weeks ago my neuro symptoms started- my right knee just felt a little weak, thought nothing of it.. then a few days later my forearms- the tops of them hurt.. ever since x 6 weeks I have had "dead" limbs feeling in the middle of the night - I wake up all night with my arms and one leg feeling as if it is asleep.. They have felt numb since..
Avatar n tn Hi there, your question has landed in the MS community, but blood spots under the skin of the knee or sinking in inthevspot(?) isn't typically associated with MS, sorry... cheers........
Avatar f tn my knees get stiff, we thought to fix the knees by surgical replacement it worked for a bit but still have stiffness not sure if it still is a ortho or ms problem anyone out there with these symptoms?
Avatar m tn I find this really intersting as well. Am a currently serving member of the CF - been in for 14 years. am on my second carear in the forces my first I was in the infantry for 6 years - deployed to Bosnia, swiss air peggy's cove and then africa. so needless to say along the way i picked up ptsd. so fast forward 9 years and lucky me i get dxed with MS. I came across the case of Dennis Patterson the other day and its got me quite interested. I think there is a valid point.
Avatar m tn The symptoms you describe, and the MRI findings, would not make me jump to MS. MS symptoms ten to be more than a single episode. They either happen frequently or last for at least 24 hours. If you can fill in some of the blanks you may get better response.

Avatar f tn In fact the muscle twitching may be due to anxiety that you are experiencing due to the fear of ALS or MS. Please go for an MRI of the spine and pelvic region. Symptoms suggest of a nerve impingement. Nerves may be impinged at different levels causing the symptoms of pain in different regions. The symptoms could be due to peripheral neuropathy, electrolyte imbalance, vitamin deficiency, toxic nerve damage apart from nerve impingement.
629189 tn?1225402248 Hey - I've never really fit into any "norm". I was diagnosed as diabetic as a young adult, but I weighed 104 lbs at 5'4". Physicians didn't take me serious back then when I asked to be tested because I did't fit the "textbook criteria". Your knowledge is sooooo very helpful, but I do tend to stay on top of symptoms and include them especially if there is a possibility that they are significant to a diagnosis ( MS or not ).
