211940 tn?1267881266 burning sensation, pain in back and sides, having to frequently go (for a trickle), extremely cloudy urine (orangy-yellow, and very "rank" smelling) Any other, "home remedies" any of you may know of, that I haven't tried yet? Typically, my UTI's last 1-2 days, not 3 weeks.
Avatar f tn Hi! I had come across an article that basically stated that men with MS may benefit from testosterone therapy. Have you heard much about this and in what ways could it be of benefit?
Avatar n tn s came out negative my doctors still think I have MS. I had the 5 days of steroids, but no further treatment. Now I am experiencing intense itching and am having a lot of trouble getting the words in my brain to come out my mouth. I seem to have more trouble typing also, my fingers don't seem to match my brain. Has anyone had anything symptoms matching these? I am getting depressed as I seem to be getting worse and don't know what to do or what is happening.

Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to our little MS community, Sometimes our head space makes it easier to focus on the things we 'want' to hear, and in time our head space lets us get back in the fight, MS has a bad habit of making people have to face their reality regardless of wants. Personally i'd rather face the good, the bad and the ugly truth, when ever i'm making significant life decisions and with that thought in mind.........
Avatar m tn But, getting on to my original question before I went wayyyy further into this than I expected, I did read a study about testosterone in men with mild MS. Does anybody know about this? This is a treatment I would consider due to it's mildness and possible benefits if I did have MS.
Avatar f tn Thanks everyone. I figured I could go out for a couple of minutes, but quickly realized ms or no ms I couldn't stay out in that heat. Thanks for the replies. I thought it might be something you all had experience with.
Avatar m tn All of the signs/symptoms that you list, with possible exception of the decline in urination stream which could be due to prostate hyperplasia, a common problem in middle-aged men, could be related to chronic, intracellular bacterial infection(s). In previous posts to this Forum I have discussed our results on spinal pain and the presence of Mycoplasma species and/or Chlamydia pn. infections. This could also be the case here. On our website www.immed.
Avatar f tn t go on a DMD and reverse the damage you can only go on a DMD or Disease Modifying Drug and hope it will slow further damage or progresssion, and MS can be more aggressive in males. Men often do not like to treat anything but it is important. That said I know I have to leave medical decisions to my husband, If I bug him he digs his heels in and won't do it. The DMDs are not guaranteed to stop progression but there never has been a time in MS history when we have so many choices.
Avatar n tn Yes, he could have had it and not known it - trich doesn't usually produce symptoms in men. He will also likely test negative for it, as its hard to find trich in men. The fact that you have it, and he had sex with you is enough that he should get treatment anyway. Its doubtful you had it before. You should not have sex with this guy again until he gets treatment, and about a week has passed.
Avatar n tn But, I am not in your shoes. It does sound like treatment of the MS could be a lot more aggressive in your case. Remember, that you have another 60 years or so of life ahead of you. MS is known to do ongoing damage to the brain and spinal cord, whether or not you are having symptoms - in all but the very few lucky ones. 60 years of slow damage could mean a lot of problems. I hope you stay and discuss all of this.
Avatar f tn Whilst I had strong reactions to the caloric test in my right ear (vertigo) - both warm and cold - I had virtually nothing in my left. Do these symptoms combined with double vision for the last 8 years suggest ms? I have also had several spells of forgetfulness including forgotteing the sentence I am saying, saying words the wrong way round (e.g., shoffee cop or coffee shop) and looking at an object and not being able to say it.
Avatar m tn I definitely see a problem with your health just as you do, but there is nothing more that can be offered to you from an endocrine point of view and no hormonal treatment is going to relieve your symptoms. I would also urge you to try meditation and/or yoga to reduce stress. I too don’t find any obvious reason to get an MRI because MRI will hardly give any actionable information which would help to relieve the sort of symptoms you seem to be experiencing.
Avatar f tn MS (and other nuerologic ) related issues strike men, sometimes in a different way. If men have urine retention issues (or retrograde ejaculation - sorry ladies) there can be all sorts of issues. Not necessarily bacterial infections, but epididymitis, cystitis, nephritis, urethritis, renal lithiasis, etc. When the wrong fluid travels the wrong way or urine doesn't move out of the kidneys and bladder, men can have all sorts of issues "down there.
Avatar m tn I have extreme muscle weakness, lesions on white matter of brain (neuro specializing in MS said they were not "active" and were so spread out that if they were MS lesions, it is very early and not what is causing my symptoms. He has ordered additional lab work, include an ACE Level that was elevated. His opinion is "watchful waiting" for up to a year with repeated MRI scans to get a definitive diagnosis. What is your input?
Avatar n tn At one time it was thought to be a cause of a common cause of vaginal discharge in women now called bacterial vaginosis however more recently its role in causing discharge (in men or women) has been disproved. Treatment of gardnerella has not been shown to benefit persons found to have it. The problem you describe sounds like non-gonococcal urethritis, the most common cause of urethral discharge in men.
1054985 tn?1257173275 I had my first episode which involved tingling in the left side of body and vision problems. Those symptoms have yet to come back, its been 5 months. However I seem to be twitching more (toes, legs, head, fingers, torso...), I am very tired, have bits of depression. Are these symptoms or just the disease itself? I guess the question is this an episode or just minor things that MS cause. Is a person with MS tired all the time or just during episodes?
Avatar f tn If is was MS, a responsible doctor would have started a course of treatment and seen you much sooner for follow up. However, you have a right to find another doctor or to call back and get clarification- or to even look at your records and see your diagnosis. Hope I helped.
Avatar f tn We need to remember that Dr. Nancy is a GYNOCOLOGIST, so her experience with other things is probably limited to her medical school days, umteen years ago. So it seems to me that a lot of the things that she says about things not OBGYN related to to be sort of the "Old School of Thought" stuff. Do women get MS more then men? Yes. Are men with MS rare? No.
Avatar f tn I haven't been on in a while but since I've seen an Ms doctor and he seems to think I have a progressive form of the disease Soo...I guess my question is how can that be?I have only one lesion on my brain and optic Neuritus in one eye much pain and foot drop.So just wondering if anyone else has been told this or if its even possible, please any info will help me understand.
11297664 tn?1416965547 t bother the docs with it any more. I sit here now with most of the textbook MS symptoms. I was still believing it to be fibro, but when I realized I had fallen 4 times in the past two months and was having trouble speaking, I went to the doctor, who immediately said he thinks I have MS, prescribed a cane for the balancce issue, is setting up PT and getting me in to an MS specialist. Has the medical field really changed so much, or did I have the misfortune of getting an incompetent neurologist?
