Avatar f tn Hi and welcome, It might not help very much to read first symptoms (sx's), because individual MS sx's vary so much, that each person with MS is said to be unique.
Avatar f tn Um I'm a bit confused, if your neuro is saying you have MS, then your actually out of limbo because you've got a dx, oh are you meaning he says you have MS but isn't listing it as your dx? The "you have MS with no clinical signs" is probably because his neuro tests aren't finding any of the clinical signs of lesion damage eg L'Hermittes, ON, hyperactive reflex, clonus, Romberg sign, Babinski sign etc.
Avatar f tn Are MS symptoms generally one-sided? Or are they bilateral? I was under the impression that they presented predominantly on one side. Most of my issues are on my left, but that doesn't preclude the occasional annoyance on the right side. I don't recall where I got this impression, what article I read or what site or whatever. Just something in the back of my head. Any sites to research on this??
Avatar f tn Your clear MRI and entire list of symptoms is suggesting that its unlikely to be due to a neurological condition like MS, MS literally means many scars and the symptoms are caused by those brain and or spinal cord lesions (scars). RRMS doesn't typically 'present' with so many different types of issues, your symptoms are generally all over, in all peripherals, unrelated to MS etc and when there isn't any lesions, understandably conditions like MS become very unlikely.....
Avatar m tn 2nd consultant i saw i mentioned that my symptoms were exactly the same as MS. He said i didnt have this and that i had a dysfunctional neuro disorder, and because my symptoms had improved, he said if i fell ill again that i needed to see a neuropsychologist because he thought it was in my head.
Avatar f tn t had dramatic symptoms yet, and I want to know how to gauge these signs? The dizziness is a little disturbing since it's been mostly there for at least the last week or so.
Avatar f tn In the case of primary progressive, a slow progression of signs and symptoms over at least 6 months is required .Also lesions are seen in elderly age group. The diagnosis of MS is more of clinical . Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) of the brain and spine is often used during the diagnostic process. MRI shows areas of demyelination (lesions) as bright spots on the image.
Avatar f tn I am 38 years old and have a tingling sensation in my feet for about six years. Recently I had an episode of double vision whilst driving that was preceded by a quick "snap" sensation in my head. It was the most bizarre experience and rectified itself within minutes. I have also recently had days where my left eye lower lid feels like it is puffy and dragging down but looks fine to look at.

1540771 tn?1292988370 The neurologist who understands the disease will take a thorough history looking for the suggestive signs of MS attacks and relapses separated by remissions. They will do a VERY thorough neuro exam - which contains dozens of tests, looking for signs that the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) has sustained some sort of injury.
Avatar f tn Hi Helen and welcome, Unfortunately, there are a lot of medical conditions that have a lot of the same or similar symptoms associated with MS, but i'm actually stumped on how someone of your age and symptoms could end up seeing a geneticist before you've even seen a neurologist or had an MRI.....
Avatar m tn s HQ), it can throw endless symptoms and combinations of symptoms/sensations at someone. This means people are often erroneously told by Dr Google that it's a possibility, when likely it is not and they've just entered 'symptoms of life' (aches, fatigue, etc) or symptoms of another origin entirely. This is the catch-22 of search engine algorithms.
Avatar f tn s, is not being able to read or being unaware of their bodies little warning signs and ending up doing to much and exacerbating things. Finding your balance is helpful in keeping you within manageable levels, it doesn't solve the problem but it can help. cheers..........
Avatar f tn I have been having numbness in my feet and calves. Started out with my toes and feet years ago. Worked in the catering/photography business (still do photography) for the past 15 years. Never wore the correct shoes and had terrible foot pain, especially in the balls of my feet. Then the numbness came on. My mom passed away six months ago and I have been battling anxiety as well. Anyway, within the last six months the numbness has gotten worse. Has moved up into my calves.
Avatar m tn I am a 33 yr old female and have recenlty been experiencing numbness of the feet and thighs and tingling sensations of limbs and face. I am worried this could be the on set of MS, can anyone tell me what the early signs of MS would be??
Avatar f tn explained by MS, and Migraine would drop lower on your list of possible causation and conditions like MS would usually be higher, simply due to the brain stem lesion. It would be easy to interpret "My neuro said they are showing lit up before and after contrast. " as meaning, every one of the lesions visible on your MRI enhanced with and without contrast but that isn't actually what happens.
Avatar m tn Go to Health Pages, yellow icon at top right. you will see a discussion that exactly touches on your question.
Avatar f tn I could not even fathom a guess if it means you dont have MS because of not having these signs, you may have other classic clinical MS signs or MRI evidence etc too hard to say. Q3. I haven't had the situation happen but i would not put future medical care in jepardy if i could help it. The chance of getting help straight away is unlikely, dx of MS can take years and all mimics need to be ruled out prior, MS is a dx of exclusion.
Avatar f tn s not typical for the symptom of weakness to be subjective, MS symptoms are caused by brain and or spinal cord lesions which typically leave behind abnormal and measurable clinical signs (objective). MS would typically present with neurological symptoms down one side of the body......
Avatar m tn I have read in this forum people with swollen lymph nodes and high fever and gastro problems rashes and then they test –ve my question is why do they get these symptoms is it just anxiety or what?
