Common Questions and Answers about Mrsa blood infection symptoms staph infections

infection

Avatar f tn Yes. Staph infections are from a type of bacteria- staphylococcal. It can cause TONS of different problems and is easily spread to others. For example- have you ever heard of MRSA outbreaks? That is a kind of staph that is drug resistant and it can spread very easily. Toxic Shock Syndrome, when a tampon leads to a build up of bacteria that gets into the blood stream and shuts down the body, is another kind of staph infection. This doesn't mean you definitely have it, but it's possible.
Avatar f tn i actually just was told i have mrsa (staph infection) from the doctor last week. i did pop one of the boils i had and pus and blood came out so that cant be good.
Avatar m tn Staph infections can be very difficult to treat. Staph bacteria can produce toxins and can cause various infections (wound, skin, toxins and if unlucky, septicemia/bacteremia). It may be killed by chlorine in the water but will not be killed on the skin especially if the bacteria is deeper and protected by the skin and tissue. The chlorine level may not be high enough to actually kill off the bacteria especially since some strains of Staph. auerus tend to be pretty tough.
Avatar n tn I decided to go to the doctor yesterday (5/1/2008) where she immediately suspected it may be herpes or a staph infection. She completed a culture and blood test which would not be returned until sometime next week. Dissatisfied with her potential diagnosis, I headed to the ER of a local hospital where the doctor asked me my sexual history.
Avatar f tn MRSA is Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It is called that because this type of Staph is resistant to methicillin plus several other antibiotics. So it is harder to treat because there are less antibiotics available to treat it with. That doesn't mean they don't have any. They have developed other antibiotics to treat it. However, they are stronger antibiotics and can be harder to take.
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms it sounds like a boil or an abscess. A boil caused due to staph infection generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out. Apply warm compresses on these bumps and consult a dermatologist for examination and confirmation of diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Although staph infections are not uncommon, the bacteria can mutate into MRSA which is very dangerous.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure, I've had my blood checked and the infection does not show up there. I saw my GP yesterday and inquired about it, and she (very condescendingly) told me that they're already tested my immune system and I'm a "very healthy person" as I currently have 2 staph infections, an ear infection, and a sinus infection. Time for a new GP? Yes, I think so.
Avatar f tn One of my little nephews (2 1/2 yrs old) may have MRSA-Staph infection. He got what looked like a little pimple on his nose and it turned black and started pussing and became infected. This was a 2-3 days ago. Yesterday we were all at DH's parents' house and the kids all play together. He mostly kept to himself (he's bashful) but he still handled toys that the other kids played with afterwards. None of us suspected Staph. We just thought he got a nasty bug bite or spider bite.
707563 tn?1626361905 One multidrug resistant bacteria is Staphylococcus aureus. It can become multidrug resistant Staph aureus or (MRSA) and make it difficult to treat. But usually there are a number of antibiotics to treat with . The bigger problem is when they cause recurring infections. Some of these MRSA bacteria "take root" in the area they infected you with and sort of "seed" themselves. You can keep treating it but you really have to stay on top of this if it recurs.

Avatar n tn Not MRSA, just regular staph infections. Anyone have any idea if the Hep could be causing the staph? We are setting him up with a hepatologist in the next week, but are curious about this now.
Avatar f tn I think you should see another doctor to get diagnosed by having either a culture done or molecular test to confirm that you have a staph aureus and/or MRSA infection. MRSA is just the form of staph that is more resistant to antibiotics. You don't normally spread staph aureus or MRSA by hugging because the clothes cover the area. So if the area is covered you should be okay.
Avatar m tn ok ill do this asap and get the blood test and skin test for staph but recently i researched on the internet i shower with a dettol anti-bacterial soap now. And yes I am seeing results very quickly but just a few bumps still comes up not as bad as like 3 months ago though.
Avatar f tn The other day my doctor was trying to ease my mind and told me he would swab my nose to see if my infection on my nose was MRSA, but also see if I was a carrier of MRSA. He told me some people are carriers and have it always and can just spread it. :/ My test results came back negative for staph and negative for MRSA. But, does that still mean I could be a carrier?
Avatar n tn Sounds like the pus is starting to come out. But if you pick a staph infection it isn't like a pimple it will spread the infection. Try not to touch it. Wash you hands often and use clean towels. You may want to go back to the doctor since you opened it up. If it isn't getting better they may need to change the antibiotic.
Avatar f tn The beginning symptoms of MRSA are blister-like bumps that start off looking like pimples and end up as deep abscesses requiring surgical draining. The abscesses can allow bacteria to reach the bloodstream which can be very dangerous. The infection can travel through the blood and infect the vital organs such as the heart and lungs. MRSA pneumonia is a serious complication of this virus which infects the lungs.
Avatar f tn My daughter had a staph infection after having a c-section. At the time she had the infection and before it was diagonised, she was unable to stand or walk. Seems it settled in her hip. This was a year ago, and she still complains every once in a while of pain in the hip. Could this be long term effects from the infection? Will this disease cause long term effects?
Avatar m tn Please see a doctor immediately!! Hopefully it will only be a nasty case of MRSA. No scare tactics here, but we are finding a lot of people with cancers in the throat and neck with very similar symptoms. The strange thing is that this is a CA normally found in the uterus/ovaries. It can affect the throat/neck of men and women. It is often misdiagnosed as MRSA/ boils (which are both types of staph infections) or spider bites. The people here care, so please let us know the outcome.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Also, it is harder to treat if the bacteria becomes resistant. One resistant type of Staph is Staph aureus. This Staph can become resistant to multiple antibiotics. It is also referred to as MRSA short for Methicillin Resistant Staph aureus. Methicillin is one type of antibiotic. So it is possible that he had a resistant strain of staph or a toxin caused by a Strep. Did you find out the type of bacteria?
Avatar n tn If it is gram negative bacteria, its not easily treated. Gram positive bacteria like MRSA (staph infections) are typically not resistant to antibiotics as appose to gram negative which are. It is possible to treat the problem but if the infection is in your blood stream although the bacteria is killed, endotoxin (in the cell wall or core of bacteria) is hard to clean from your blood. It attacks your tissues and causes inflamation.
