Mri scan x ray

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan x ray

mri-scan

Avatar m tn Yes, an MRI can produce images radio waves and unlike conventional x-ray examinations and computed tomography (CT) scans, MRI does not depend on ionizing radiation. It seems, generally, the differentiation of abnormal tissue from normal tissue is often better with MRI then x-ray, CT and echo. But the state-of-art CT scan, slice 64 and higher has reduced radiation. Hope this helps.
763362 tn?1236624790 I have been having back problems for about 27 years now and i am only 35, i had my first ever x-ray about a month ago which shows the L5-S1 disc gap very tight whereas all the other discs look healthy. My G.P. mentioned OsteoArthritis from his letter regarding the x-ray. I have been referred to Physio and had an initial assesment where the consultant said that it looks like Degenerative Disc Disease, he said the only way to determine this better is by having an MRI scan, on going back to my G.P.
Avatar f tn Hi,I jus came to no that I am 7weeks expecting, but had chest x-ray done 4 days ago wen I dnt no I was pregnant and the x-ray was without the shield.please advice will it effect the baby ?
Avatar f tn Hello, how well can an X-Ray display what is going on in the body? I presume it only shows fractures and such, but I am wonderign if there is any way it can show growths? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I want to say something about the MRI and with the help of MRI you can easily get the information about the scapula. In many cases MRI gives information about structures in the body that can't be seen as well with an X-ray, ultrasound, or CT scan. MRI can find changes in the structure of organs or other tissues. It also can find tissue damage or disease, such as infection or a tumor. So this is better than the X-ray or CT Scan.
443136 tn?1210536325 When I was a baby, probably about a year old, I had a CT scan, or an x-ray (can't remember which one) of my head. Then, last year, I had a CT scan done of my head again on 5/31/07. They found a 2 ml lipoma (fatty tissue). They didn't think much of it, so on 6/18/07, I had an MRI done on my head. I know MRI's don't use radiation or anything, but still. Anyway, if you read some of my other questions, you'll see my list of symptoms I've been having.
Avatar n tn When having a Hida scan, Do you lay in a machine such as the one of an MRI or what?
Avatar n tn t have lesions seen on MRI of the brain, but there might be lesions on the spine or lesions not detected through MRI. MRI is excellent for viewing soft tissue abnormalities. X-ray or CT scan are excellent for viewing bones.
375373 tn?1492342401 Hello, how do I know after how long a certain x-ray or MRI done once can be given to another doctor for a 2nd opinion without my having to take them again? It seems nowadays physicians rely more on ordering MULTIPLE radiographs and I'd like to avoid an overexposure, even if gradually. What I hope to know is, up to how many months is, say, a hip joint x-ray good for diagnosis? Also, the same question for a head and neck MRIs? Google didn't give me any answer at all...
Avatar n tn x-ray shows 7mm nodular versus nipple shadow versus superimpostion of shadows at the left lung base. Is this anything 2 be concerned about?
Avatar n tn yes an x-ray just shows the bones...not the nerves. it doesnt give a clear pic of whats going on. an MRI will show alot more and give the dr a better pic of what is going on. x-rays are cheaper...so thats why they do those first. I have ruptured disc in my back....I have burning, numbness, aching, pain in back/legs. was this a work-related injury?? before going back to work anywhere....you need to know whats going on....
Avatar n tn My wife had a chest X-Ray last week and the results came back today that there is a 10 mm nodule present in her upper left lobe. It also showed some scarring as well. They have recommended she have a CT Scan to further evaluate. I haven't given her this news yet as I just found out today & because personally, I am scared for her. I am a lung cancer survivor myself staged at IIIB, currently NED & she has been by my side during all my treatments.
Avatar n tn Had a chest X-ray as a follow-up to Thyroid Cancer and they said that looked OK but X-ray showed what looked like old scaring. What does that mean?
Avatar f tn I had X-ray and nothing is broken, But from my understand that X-ray can't show herinated disc or any other problems that have to do with the spine. That why I ask for an MRI the first time and the doctor sent for any X-ray, I hated Medicaid cause you got wait for everything. Thanks for the advice.
Avatar f tn The MRI is far less dangerous and shows up everything you might want to see. The CAT, which uses x-ray radiation, is an obsolete machine. The "snow storm" could be mucus or fluid, or remnants of an infection. Pain and shortness of breath are consistent with such a problem. You should obtain an emergency albuterol inhaler or a pwder foradilm aerolizer which should help witrh the shortness of breath without causing any harm.
Avatar f tn I went back to the dr for a chest x-ray and received the above stated results. I have a ct scan scheduled for next week...
Avatar f tn If so you need to go to your doctor and get an X-ray or MRI done. If it is a tingling numbness sensation, there is a probability that you have a nerve involved which must be compressed. What i would recommend you at this point of time is that do not make it too late.
Avatar m tn Do you think a disease of the cornea could cause the temporary blindness symptoms? My friend had the X-ray and has just been told that he has a minor brain tumour. I just don't see how this would explain the eyes watering and burning symptoms (could be unrelated i guess) and why it would cause the blindness just some of the time (mainly in the mornings).
Avatar f tn Hello, If it is not better by now, see your physician again and ask for either a CAT scan or an MRI, this will show much more than a basic x-ray, the swelling tells me there is something else going on that the basic X-Ray did not show.
Avatar f tn I recently went for a cervical spine x-ray because of neck pain. I am not sure what they results mean and my family doctors says that there is nothing wrong. The results are: There is straightening of expected lordosis. There is normalvertebral body height and posterior alignment. Spinolaminate alignment and disc spaces are maintained. There is slight narrowing of right c4/5 neural foramen on oblique projection. The odontoid and c1/2 lateral mass articulations are within normal limits.
Avatar f tn MRI scan x-ray scan endoscopy gastric emptying scan esophageal manometry small bowel manometry and also a CT scan thats about it..they couldnt find anything wrong with me....
Avatar m tn The first step, even prior to a CT scan, could be a careful review of any and all prior chest X-rays for comparison with the present X-ray. In some instances fluoroscopy, performed by the Radiologist allows him/her to exclude the presence of a mass or, if a mass is confirmed, gain additional information on the appearance of it and the likely diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I got in a car accident and when I went to the hospital they gave me a chest x-ray and a head and neck cat scan I was just wondering have anyone had any xrays done during their pregnancy? I'm scared that my baby is going to come out with something wrong With it. please give me some advise so that I can stop worrying So much.
Avatar m tn Feeling very unwell, sometimes unable to get out of bed, pain on left side of face and head. Had x rays, cat scan, MRI, blood work. All normal except for slight thickness on left side. Nobody can find infection, and yet I respond to antibiotics to the point I am able to function, ei. Get out of bed, shower, go for a walk. I am currently taking ibuprophen for pain. Outside of this, I was a very healthy, active person.
