How necessary is it to have a CT head scan for having one possible simple partial seizure two months ago? I saw a neurologist who suggested I have the scan, but he did admit another neurologist might have said it was okay to wait and see if it happened again. He left the decision up to me. I'm worried about the x-rays of a CT scan, having had plenty of x-rays for other procedures in the past. If I have another seizure or whatever it was, I would definitely have a scan.

It is my understanding that the SPECT scan is not the latest in brain imaging technology. For most conditions, MRI is a preferred technique. However, it is not unheard of to find a new application for an old method, and from what I have read, this is the case with SPECT scans for imaging the effects of Lyme on the brain. As of now, I don't have any laboratory evidence that my treatment is doing anything.

Thanks for your reply, I will ask them about CAT scan... we have already done MRI but doctor say, the result is not enough... I think I will wait to see if they come up with technology which inject the dye from outside, rather than using her veins. If the kid is fine and something happens to her during the procedure would be a hard mistake.

my wife had a mri scan on her neck the result came back as follows mri on the C- spine showd minor degenerative changes with a normal spinal cord there disc lesion at C6/C7 which corrugates the postrior longitudinal ligament by the spinal cord .

Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
