mri-scan

Avatar n tn i had mri scan of my brian 3 weeks ago and now want me to have another with the dye injected first . does this mean they have found somehing wrong ?
Avatar n tn Working with strong magnets, an MRI scan can be dangerous with stents, it can even make them very hot. Before an MRI the technician has to be told the type of stent/s in the patient, which included the manufacture, model etc. Also the size has to be known. The technician then adjusts the sensitivity of the MRI scanner so no danger to the stent is presented. Maybe the scanner was adjusted to a level where it was unable to detect the stent.
Avatar m tn You simply inform the technician on the day of the scan. Usually you fill in a form before the procedure which asks these questions. The powerful magnets in the mri scanner can heat any metal implants so you must inform them, then the equipment is adjusted accordingly. I believe they lower the intensity of the magnetic field.
745975 tn?1258960922 My Doctor order an MRI scan on my head to check for a Pituitary Adenoma, but she told me to only go in when I was having headaches. I was having headaches all weekend but I feel better today, and probably wont be able to go in for a few days since I need to make an appointment first. Will it matter if I have a headache or not when I go in? If there is an adenoma, won't it show up regardless? I'm just trying to figure out why I should wait?
Avatar f tn I did, but I was already sore from baby girl kicking and flipping so much. Plus growing pains and round ligament pains add to the pain. Rest as much as possible.
567677 tn?1246767776 Is this diagnosis because no lesions have shown yet? My scan is not until June, which is on the same day I see the dr. But he reads the scan himself no radiologist. I think that is good. It will go straight to him no middle man. I am still confused about this diagnosis. Now there is probably no hope to get health insurance unless I can manage to go back to work. Bummer! Looks like this could be a long hard road. Let me know what you guys think about it.
Avatar f tn I had a regulary scheduled appointment yesterday with my Internal Medicine Doctor. He asked me if I had ever had a spinal MRI. I told him no and he said I really needed to have one. (he knows my neurological history and has seen my brain MRIs. I had a total spine MRI at 8:00 this morning. The Tech told me that they don't use the dye for this scan unless she sees something. After the scan.
Avatar f tn My last two MRI'S I've experienced burning on my head during the MRI. The technician is baffled at this and doesn't know why. It's in the same place each time but this second time occurred sooner!! What is causing this sensation all of a sudden? I have MS, diagnosed in 1992 with a dozen lesions on my brain. In 2005 the MRI report said to many lesions to count! I just want to know why all of a sudden I'm experiencing this burning sensation???
4867667 tn?1360246053 Just call back and ask. If you talk to the same technician she can pull up your U/S scan photos and I'm sure that will jog her memory.
Avatar f tn It sounds like they suspect inflammationn in the lung. You should request an MRI rather than a cat. The MRI is far less dangerous and shows up everything you might want to see. The CAT, which uses x-ray radiation, is an obsolete machine. The "snow storm" could be mucus or fluid, or remnants of an infection. Pain and shortness of breath are consistent with such a problem.
4205995 tn?1351169508 It can also depend on the technician performing the scan. Also, for soft tissue imaging MRI gives more resolution and detailing. So, it should more accurate. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn During an MRI does the technician performing the MRI stay with the patient or in an observatory room with intercom the entire time should the MRI need to be terminated for some reason.
Avatar f tn So I recently had an MRI done of my knee. During the exam at certain frequencies my leg would tense up or twitch uncontrollably. The tech told me after the first two scans o was moving and put a little wedge between my knee and a sandbag on my leg. This helped a little but the tensing and twitching continued. I had a copy made immediately and it isn't very clear and is pretty blurry.
11715504 tn?1422286415 My second baby I did an anatomy scan which would take 1 hour and 30 minutes. Ended up in a 3 hour scan and they told my bladder needed to be full so I had to pee really bad when I got there but I couldn't empty it. She made me sit on the table for 2 HOURS before I could empty my bladder I was in excruciating pain on top of her pressing really hard on my stomach and she didn't even get to finish it. She couldn't get any pictures.
Avatar f tn What all happens when they do the anatomy scan besides finding out the sex and measuring of the baby
Avatar n tn Hi I just had a CT scan and did not have to have my ICD shut off. MRI`s are a different story, I can not have a MRI because of my ICD. I am on my fourth ICD and I run weed eaters, chain saws, leaf blowers and I work on my car while it`s running. My ICD is in my abdomen and after seventeen years none of my electric or gas powered tools have ever caused a problem. I try to keep my power tools at least six inches from my ICD same as my cell phone.
Avatar n tn I told the technician all the symptoms, that I had. I did not mention weight or appetite loss to the technician. My symptoms are a fluttering sensation in the diaphragm, after eating a meal or drinking any liquids. Also feeling full. The doctor and technician were both in the room, during the procedure. I asked the technician after the doctor left, rather quickly, why he asked me those questions, and the technician said the doctor always asks the patient questions, during the procedure.
Avatar f tn If you do get the contrast, you will need to drink lots of fluids to help flush the it out of your system. I hope the technician who does your scan reminds you to do this as well. Overall, you will find an MRI to be a pretty simple and straightforward test. The hard part will be waiting for the report to be written up and sent to the doctor to get the findings. Good-luck and I hope the results will be helpful in finding out what is wrong with you.
Avatar f tn ) it's just a waiting game :)
Avatar f tn My 12 year old grandson suffered a blow to the left side of his head, near the ear two months ago in a surfing accident. He received numerous stitches, and it resulted in paralysis on the left side of his face. His forehead, eye and mouth noticeably droop. About a 10 days after his accident, he underwent a number of tests to determine whether the nerve had been transected or was still intact. Fortunately, it was still intact.
Avatar f tn I had a scan yesterday to see if I implanted in the correct spot and the technician said I would be about 3 to 4 weeks.. I got my results back and it said I'm in fact 5 weeks. All we could see was a gestational sac measuring 6mm. There wasn't a yolk sac or anything goes yet. My hcg levels are 6700 as of yesterday as well. Is it normal not to see anything but the sac at 5 weeks?
338416 tn?1420045702 I think I'll ask the technician tomorrow about the strength of the MRI, and have the radiologist weigh in on it as well. If the radiologist says in his report that the strength of the MRI isn't sufficient for MS protocol, maybe it will help when I have to deal with the neuro later.
Avatar n tn I would definitely ask for an ultrasound, blood enzyme test, then MRI if these two tests are inconclusive, a hyda scan and last would be a CT scan. Good Luck I was in your shoes once.
