mri scan procedure nhs

Hi guys I wanted to know if anyone knows where to get a private head MRI scan done in the Birmingham region. I've been suffering from this head related illness for almost 2 years and the doctor thinks it's depression which I disagree because the only thing that gets me depressed is the problem itself I'm suffering from.

Does the transrectal aspiration procedure need to be done along side the MRI or is that a seperate procedure involving ultrasound and a needle? how is the trans rectal-aspiration done? Can you tell me the treatment for obstruction of the seminal vessel, vas deferens any of the ejaculation system (other then infection treatment with antibiotics)? i cant find much online and it seems there's very little options with high severe complication risks with treatments?

my doctor said i need an mri scan as a result of suffering with many symptoms for many months- he said i will receive a letter. does this mean he will book it for me or refer me? i live in the uk. anyone know anything about this?

Hi Thicked I had 2nd MRI scan last Feb.18 this is the result & my Doctor of Acute Gynaecology write a letter to my GP for request to sent me to endometriosis specialist to UCLH now I am waiting for appointment..

thanks for your response im currently going private as the nhs havent been of much help to me. ive just sent my scan pics to a radiologist in london so fingers crossed they will offer me some advice. i dont know where else to turn.

he said that the nhs were unfair to discharge me with just painkilers just because my mri scan came back ok..he thinks i my have a prob with a disk in my back that is afecting the nerves.,this wunt always show up on a mri scan..he thinks it cud be a leak or spit..his plan is to help me with my mobility and to stop me limping put then to refeer me to my gp so that he can then refeer me to a special spine doc at a differant hospital..

When having a Hida scan, Do you lay in a machine such as the one of an MRI or what?

t have the expertise to treat this so I was referred to a city hospital where the surgeon repeated an MRI scan which came back negative and I was discharged still in pain and in need of treatment. I continued in my quest for treatment over the next two years being turned away from clinics with the same outcome. In this time I had to overcompensate with my left hand and tradgicly I developed the same pain in this arm too.

Im still waiting as to when i can get to see a neurologist and my mri scan. I was told this could be about 2 months or so as it is under the NHS in the UK. I hope they hurry up as i am desperate to know what may have caused these symptoms to arise. Im hoping tommorow all goes well. The GP said usually if there is any problems with my eyes the optician can spot this through certain tests.

It made me wonder if acl reconstruction is less successful in the UK because the NHS doesn't like to pay for it and therefore pts don't get as much experience dealing with aclr patients. This is just my theory but I've heard the success rate is about 90% but that might just be for America.

The doctor who ordered the scan never mentioned this and I am not due to see them until after the scan. So my question is whether an MRI of the hips can show whether the cauda equina nerves are damaged or can it not view them? I am in severe pain in the pelvic, back and leg area. My doctor wanted to give me a steroid injection to relieve bursitis, but wanted to assess the MRI first. I am not entirely clear what they are looking for.

hey i am 17 years old and ive had back pain for 3 years now, after going through the NHS or chiropractors and many physio's one of them finally ordered a MRI after an X-ray showed nothing, it showed i had 3 slipped discs and one is pinching a root nerve. im in the process of seing a back surgeon to see which surgeory is the best for me.

Does anyone know how this will come in the post? Will it say it's just from the NHS on the envelope as I don't want my mum to guess from the front.

My doctor has now referred me to a rheumatologist as it is only them who can decide if I need an MRI scan because I insisted to my doctor that I must have an MRI scan to get to the bottom of all this. It was removed and I was told that a small border of cancer was left behind, my consultant said that he would have liked it to have been zero but it was a small level so not to worry. The NHS were totally marvellous throughout all of this. Recovery went well but around 6 months later and roughly every 6 months I get a dull nagging pain that appears to come from the prostate area.

I spent months been told something had come up on an MRI over the phone, no one would tell me what and had repeat MRI of brain and spine with no idea why they were doing it. Took ages to get to see a neurologist. I had to get my doctor to write to people doing my scan to find out what they were looking at. I thought cancer as at the same time I had a lump, and as I said I am a worrier. Was told once I had more lesions after my 3rd scan, when I did not.

I’m 53 years old with aortic insufficiency and miral valve prolasp and I’m reluctant to have a CT Scan if there are alternatives. Would a Cardio MRI be at least as effective as a CT scan to help diagnose the following: Aortic valve condition, such as is it bicuspid, calcified, stenosis, and the extent of insufficiency? Aorta condition? Heart mussel mass? General cardiovascular condition (blockages)? Condition of the Mirtal valve?

I just meant it was NHS waiting list that I am currently working with, THanks for your explanation regarding the mass/tumour thing. I suppose I do have to wait until I speak to an expect but hearing about others experiences do make things easier.

For anyone that has had a PV ablation, did your doctor schedule at CT Scan or an MRI of your heart before the procedure? I was told I would have to get a CT Scan. I'm very concerned about the radiation and was wondering if anyone had an MRI instead.

If you are concerned about radiation, an MRI is an alternative procedure without the radiation.

Go see a doc and get an mri scan. I am 24 and have had a headache for the last 8 + years and was finally diagnosed as tp having chiari malformation after years of being told anxiety.... Always push docs when u feel something isn't right.. they always try to pull the anxiety/depression card which may indeed be the case for most. But there is always the chance its not... I thought i had a brain tumor also lol... Alot of ppl do but don't worry. U won't have one..

An ultrasound is not supposed to be performed "just because". It is a medical procedure just as x-ray, CT scan, MRI, bloodwork, etc are medical procedures. Valid medical reasons are required and must be ordered by doc, PA, CRNP.
