Avatar m tn Hi I received my MRI scan results and the specialist scared the life out of me. No treatment at the moment as my symptoms have improved slightly. I am to manage my symptoms but if they worsen I would have to call emergency services and require surgery.
Avatar m tn Herniated disc impinged on the nerve at L2/3 level. Get a repeat MRI scan spine done to check if any disc degeneration or prolapsed at higher level causing back muscles atrophy. Consult a neurosurgeon immediately as this lateral curvature may also affect your posture, gait and respiration. Take care.
Avatar f tn If you do have butt pain and discomfort when sitting look at piriformis syndrome as well as back and disc problems. A prolapsed disc is the most likely cause but there could be more than 1 problem.i.e disc AND piriformis. Good luck.

Avatar f tn hi dojeanne, back pain going to the left leg to the toes signifies a slip disc (IVDP=Inter vertebral disc prolapse). One of the easiest method to detect it's severity is to do a straight leg raising test (SLRT), where , while lying on the back, you lift you affected leg as straight as possible, preferably with other person's help. If you can do it upto 90 degrees, it will mean an insignificant prolapsed disc.
8452642 tn?1398193453 MRI of the lumbar spine of the same date. TECHNIQUE: AP, bilateral oblique, and lateral radiographs were obtained There is a 2 mm of anerolisthesis of L4 on L5. The vertebral body heights are preserved. Moderate disc space narrowing and surrounding endplates sclerosis is seen at the L2-L3 level, as well as endplate ostephytosis. Loss of disc height is also seen but less pronounced at the L3-L4 level. Facet sclerosis and hypertrophy is seen at the L3-L4, L4-L5, and L5-S1 levels.
517498 tn?1211673247 What happens is that part of the inner softer part of the disc (the nucleus pulposus) bulges out (herniates) through a weakness in the outer part of the disc. A prolapsed disc is sometimes called a herniated disc. The bulging disc may press on nearby structures such as a nerve coming from the spinal cord. Some inflammation also develops around the prolapsed part of the disc. Any disc in the spine can prolapse. However, most prolapsed discs occur in the lumbar part of the spine (lower back).

Avatar m tn i had a disc prolapes at c5 c6 i will highlight the findings of my MRI of Cervizal spine: * MILD CHANGES OF CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS * POSTEROCENTRAL AND LEFT PARACENTRAL FOCAL PROTRUSION OF C5/6 DISC CAUSING COMPRESSION OF CORD AND LEFT EXITING NERVE ROOT *MILD POSTERIOR ANNULAR BULGE OF C67 INTEVERTEBRAL DISC CAUSING NARROWING OF BILATERAL NEURAL FORAMINAE. *OSSEOUS SPINAL CANAL STENOSIS AT C6 LEVEL. also i had some problem in my lumabr spine too.
Avatar n tn I am due to have an MRI on my back for a suspected prolapsed lumbar disc. My menstrual period has started. If I have in a Tampax while the MRI is being taken will this interfere with the image?
Avatar f tn Severe cases need surgical decompression for relief of symptoms where the section of the disc is cut which puts pressure on the nerves. The trapped nerve can be tested by nerve conduction velocity study. Discuss these options with your doctor. Take care.
Avatar n tn These symptoms need a detail spine evaluation clinically and with MRI spine to look for any prolapsed disc or bony spurs, degenerated disc causing pinched nerve or compression of exiting nerve roots causing numbness, tingling and weakness of muscles. It could be at the neck with cervical disc prolapsed and myelopathy causing lower limb symptoms. These would require NSAIDS, acupressure, epidural injection of steroids, physiotherapy and decompressive surgery when needed.
Avatar m tn Mild disc prolapsed of C3/C4, C4/C5, C5/C6 and C6/C7 resulting in minimal anterior theca sac indentation. Loss of cervical lordosis (flat neck) due to muscle spasms. With all the results, my GP and neurologist haven't got a clue but stated that the closest possibility causing this issue could be coming from the cervical spine. I was given Neurobion and Lyrica for 2 weeks but it did not help. I really don't know what to do next to treat my symptoms.
Avatar n tn This is pain due to nerve irritation and could be sciatica though this travels from thigh to knee, compressive neuropathy due to prolapsed intervertebral disc, nerve compression at the hip joint. It is advisable to undergo an MRI scan spine to check for any disc lesions, bony spurs, spondylolisthesis etc causing compressive radiculopathy. You might need an MRI knee or an arthroscopy of knee to look for any bony spurs etc irritating the nerves.
287827 tn?1357560483 However, I also had a prolapsed disc about 4 years ago and had never experienced this numbness in the back of my head before so am hopeful it is caused by that. The MRI showed the disc prolapsed on the LHS (L4/5) which is the side of my head I experience the numbness on - is this consistent with/likely to be caused by the damage to the disc?
Avatar f tn Please help! I have had an mri and it showed I have a large c5/6 disc prolapsed centrally. The consultant now wants to operate as he said my reflexes when he hit the bottom of my feet are 'BRISK'. I am very frightened as he said there is a chance i could be paralysed if i have the operation. I know there is a risk with any surgery but he didn't say what the statistics were of this or how well this operation works.
Avatar m tn I can understand your dilemma over the health issue. Your symptoms could be because of prolapsed intervertebral disc at C3-C4, C4-C5 levels. This damage is age or poor posture related. Trauma due to sudden jerky forward neck movement can cause weakness, pain, tingling, numbness, and electrical sensation in shoulder and arms. Weakness and decreased sensation are also noted. You also have symptoms in the legs, which could be due to the prolapsed disc pressing on the spinal cord.
1504875 tn?1289586441 So you need to consult a neurosurgeon for this who will ask for an MRI spine for checking the degree of the prolapsed discs at each level. The resectability has to be evaluated. PCOS needs to be evaluated and treated well, by a gynecologist. The lesion could be acanthosis nigricans seen in association with PCOS. Take care.
Avatar m tn i have had done mri scan done it shows one small disc is moved but doctor said to me is not worth to operate he recommend massage of spine and back muscles.my gp will send me to neurology to check nerve system but im still concern about doctors in uk .
Avatar m tn Hello, my name is Tony in 2004 I had a workplace accident, which involved my back and I was in horrofic pain to the point where my legs were giving way and I was falling down in the street , falling down the stairs and so on, I was told it was everything from a pulled muscle to pulled ligaments, eventually I managed to get an MRI scan two years later, I was diagnosed with three prolapsed discs of which L4/L5 was causing a compression on the nerves in my back and knocking out my legs, I had a dis
