Avatar m tn s a good approach as he is trying to give your neck muscles , a good rest. Also he is thinking of eliminating the probability of Whiplash injury. Hence please cooperate with him and follow his advice. The pre-existing osteoarthritis of the neck has got nothing much to do with the present condition, except the fact that it's slowing the pace of recovery. A good physiotherapy would augment the healing process. All the best. Feel free to discuss further.
Avatar n tn my wife had a mri scan on her neck the result came back as follows mri on the C- spine showd minor degenerative changes with a normal spinal cord there disc lesion at C6/C7 which corrugates the postrior longitudinal ligament by the spinal cord .
Avatar m tn left foramina stenosis. At 3-4 diameter of 11-12 mm small amount of CSF around cord. mild narrowing of foramina At 4-5 mild canal narrowing w/AP diameter of 9mm and mild flattening of cord bilateral foramina narrowing here too. At 5-6 canal diameter is 10mm with only a trace of CSF anterior to the cord and none posterior. At 6-7 mild canal narrowing again. Impression only mentions Lordosis and narrowing of the canal from C2-C7.
Avatar n tn I understand these should be avoided while pregnant, but what if they are medically necessary? Has anyone gotten an MRI or Cat Scan while pregnant? What was the outcome, did it have an affect on your baby? Was it worth it? I have been experiencing agonizing pain in my left shoulder, neck, and arm, that sometimes radiates to my chest, making it hard to breathe. I am having a really hard time sleeping, and even functioning, and my quality of life has gone down because of it.
Avatar f tn If the pain persists, you may ask to see an orthopedist and also have an MRI and/or CT scan. Xrays do not shwo everything and are not always reliable. The MRI and CT scan can show if it is a muscle, bone, tendon or ligament. Hope this helps.

Avatar m tn Not likely. A CAT scan, or MRI would be more effective.
Avatar f tn I have had a total of 6 MRIs since the operation. The last MRI of my neck showed prominent level II nodes larger on the right side. They show homogeneous contrast enhancement and are no greater than 15mm in diameter along their anterior superior axis.THey were also present on my first cervical Mri but werent on the report. My surgeon says they were there preop. My question to you is, could it be possible it could be an infection? My sed rate on 2 different occasions was 27 and 35.
Avatar n tn I have been to an internal medicine and ENT doctor, and I have had an MRI and CT scan of my neck, and I was told that everything appears normal. The ENT doctor said my lymph nodes are swollen, but the MRI was normal. My thyroid is not swollen and TSH and free T4 levels are fine. The last few days my neck has been hurting even more. I couldn't even work today it hurt so much. I have trouble swallowing, and when I lay on my back, it feels like my throat is closing up.
Avatar f tn there is evidence of a prior left temporal craniotomy. there is some encephalomalacia associated with the lateral aspect of left temporal lobe. gyriform T1-weighted hyperintensity is present in this area, comsistent with methemoglobin deposition. this would be compatible with prior traumatic and/or surgical injury. with respect to the temporomandibular joint, there is evidence of anterior dislocation of the disc, with relocation on mouth opening.
Avatar f tn In PET scan, there is a lymphnode in neck and some in chest. SUV of neck lymphnode is 9.7 and for chest lymphnodes, it is 3.9 to 6.4. Docotrs wanted to do biopsy of this neck lymphnode but it was found difficult to do. He said that there is also possibility of sarcoidosis. In sarcoidosis, may this SUV be too high? My husband has no symptoms of lymphoma. Now what should we do? Doctors suggested to take regular checkup. But I am afraid. Is it also the possibilty of lymphoma?
Avatar f tn A PET scan may help detect possible recurrence of your thyroid cancer, especially if you had an aggressive type of thyroid cancer. I think you need to go back to your doctor and insist on diagnostic procedure/s. The exact cause of your symptoms needs to be determined. You can also take any pain reliever to ease the pain. Stay positive.
Avatar f tn I was all ready to ask my neuro if I could get a CT scan instead of an MRI when I came across a bunch of literature about people developing cancer from CT scans. Does anyone know just how significant the risks are? Thanks.
1300754 tn?1273845780 Inflammation of carotid artery will be better visualized by a duplex ultrasound than by a CT scan. Also the pain can be due to inflammation of lymphatics, a pinched nerve or due to a muscle pull. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn It will depend on the results of your cervical spine MRI what type of treatment would be effective to relieve your symptoms. I believe the physical therapist is correct in thinking that your neck vertebrae are the pain generators. Please post the results of your MRI and we might be able to assist you better. While it is possible to have a concurrent shoulder injury/bursitis, the shoulder pain could have also been related to your neck problems.
Avatar m tn I do have a copy of my MRI. I also had a CT scan done, both of which I have copies of (the CT scan was because the drs thought I had a blocked sinus cavity). I have yet to have any type of scan of my spine though, just brain.
Avatar n tn I wanted to mention that MRI scan reading depends a lot on the training and ability of the Doctor reading them. I don't know what type of specialist you're seeing, but most of them look at the scans themselves and come up with their own conclusions, and don't generally go by the Radiologist's report. Judging from your symptoms, I think this one must have missed something.
Avatar m tn It came out of on nowhere 2 months ago i was working away at my desk and i felt this pressure kind of feeling on top of my head in that one tiny spot top left of my head its like the size of a quarter. It has been on and off every day for two months sometimes it hurts but only for a second and the pain isnt severe but i notice its there and its annoying and due to my anxiety problems you can guess what goes through my mind>Any comments are greatly appreciated thank you.
2212869 tn?1339201618 Can someone help me figure out my MRI. I had a neck MRI done June 28 2012. I have neck pain and my right arm is numb off and on. Here are the results of it. PROCEDURE: MRI OF THE CERVICAL SPINE COMPARISON: None. INDICATIONS: Cervicalgia. FINDINGS: Sagittal T2, T1 inversion recovery and axial T2 images of the cervical spine were obtained along with localizer images. The examination reveals the craniocervical junction is unremarkable.
Avatar f tn Straightening of the cervical lordosis is a straight neck which is also called military neck or cervical kyphosis. If this curvature loss is significant you may experience neck pain/stiffness, shoulder pain and headaches. A traction neck pillow can help with neck pain. Degenerative disc disease (DDD) is not really a disease but this term is used to describe the changes in your spinal discs as you age. The symptoms of DDD vary from person to person and there may be no symptoms at all.
Avatar n tn I was sent for nerve conservation tests because of deadness in some of my fingers, this showed up a problem in my neck. I was told today that the scan show significant changes in my neck, also i was told I have a very narrow canal which I was born with. The ortho said he is now referring me to a nuerologist (consultant) to see if he can offer any treatment. I had a car accident about 15 yrs ago which left me with spinal problems but he said this is not through the accident.
Avatar m tn Was the CAT scan of your neck and surrounding structures? If so, get an MRI done...It sounds to me like this is all coming from your high neck area...I'm not sure about the liver enzyme elevation without seeing other labs...If you are taking a lot of pain medications -especially ibuprofen or acetaminophen (tylenol) containing ones, that can cause the elevation by itself...
