mri-scan

Avatar n tn since 4 years i have a tiny spot in my lung ct scan doctor says there is a malformation but nothing to worry .is it normal what should i do to remove the spot.
Avatar m tn These equipment use computers which uses the software that is supportive for the machinery. For .example if You take a CT scan to search for lung cancer the software system utilizes different angles to view the lung fields in many dimensions.3D lung reconstruction uses Improved Ray Casting Algorithm which provides information for diagnosing respiratory problems.
Avatar f tn It sounds like they suspect inflammationn in the lung. You should request an MRI rather than a cat. The MRI is far less dangerous and shows up everything you might want to see. The CAT, which uses x-ray radiation, is an obsolete machine. The "snow storm" could be mucus or fluid, or remnants of an infection. Pain and shortness of breath are consistent with such a problem.
Avatar f tn They did a mammogram, ultrasound and mri. The mammo showed 1 lump, which has the characteristics of a lymph node, the ultrasound showed 2 lumps (above the nipple toward the armpit), which also has the characteristics of lymph nodes, then they did the mri, but they gave me no information at all. I see my doctor 6/12. My problem is my Type A persoanlity! I like all my info and then act. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Well instead of doing an MRI on my husband because of the nodule they did another cat scan. The said there is one 12mm smooth nodule on his lower right lobe so now they are going to do a PET scan, he's having that done on the 20th. I am confused. Why the PET scan do they suspect cancer?? From reading the different posts I was under the impression that they do a cat scan every 6 mos. to monitor the nodule. Is the fact that the Dr. requested a PET scan bad news?
Avatar f tn My son TJ had a mass in his lung when he was three, they ended up doing a ct scan and the mass was a bunch of atelectasis (where portions of the lung collapse). While this wasn't great news, we were concerned the mass was a lymph node inflammed, which could have meant lymphomia.
Avatar n tn i am 46 years old and stopped smoling 2 yrs ago - i smoke a pack a day on and off for about 20 yrs- during a breast mri something was seen on my right lung- had a ct scan - they found 2 nodules- one is 5.
Avatar n tn I would not be concerned, however I would request what is called a "3T" MRI in lieu of the CT scan. The 3T is the latest of the MRI machines. The MRI machines come in several models. The older ones are what are called "1T', meaning one tesla unit. Or 2T. I would insist on an MRI, but you probably won't win a popularity contest. CT scans are obsolete and the only reason they are used is that a medical facility has to amortize old equipment.
Avatar f tn We usually see this kind of CT scan in patients who may have lung malignancy and waiting for May seems too long. I suggest you facilitate your appointment so that you can be worked up further and faster, and so that whatever the outcome, it can be treated early and promptly. The liver function tests can be due to a fatty liver or with your background having all of these lung findings, it could very well be something else. I hope you get to consult with your lung doctor as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn Results on my stomach were fine but the scan showed a lesion or scar on my lung. A CT scan of my lungs was ordered. The result showed a questionable lesion about the size of the top of your finger on one lung. Another CT scan was ordered for 6 weeks later to determine whether or not there was any growth. This scan showed no growth but the radiologist could not definitively say whether or not it was just a lesion from a previous pneumonia or a tumor(benign or malignant).
Avatar m tn I just made a similar posting, see "I'm scared". I have had pneumonia a couple of times which could be the cause of my lesion and luckily it hasn't changed in size over the past 6 weeks but I certainly understand your concerns. The waiting is the hard part. I need to see a specialist because the radiologist who read my CT scan can't be completely sure of what my lesion is or isn't. The specialist will schedule either a PET or MRI. I've been reading about both.
147426 tn?1317265632 t want to admit she was wrong and had me on the wrong meds for my lung problem and that I needed further help in the form of the lung function clinic...hmmm...another dr. with her panties in a knot...we shall see I guess!
Avatar n tn What symptoms do you have? Has a CT scan of the chest been done - the normal protocol is to get a CT scan before an MRI. What kind of infection did your doctor tell you it was? A pneumonia or something else? Were you prescribed any medications? Was a repeat chest xray done after a course of antibiotics? Let us know the answer to the above questions to be able to help you. Keep us posted if you have any other doubts. Regards.
Avatar n tn My Mum has had an MRI Scan, she has recently had stage 2 non small cell lung cancer which she had an upper left lobectomy. 4 weeks ago she had a bloody clot that blocked her right lung and had to have a 'clot buster' to sort it out. she spent 3 weeks in ITU. when she woke up it was apparent tht she had had some sort of a stroke probably caused by the clot buster. These are her results of an mri but not a very good one as she was moving around.

365470 tn?1232747095 he tried physical therapy , etc nothing helped, then he had a bad sinus infection, after which he has never been the same, pale, weak, tired, passed out twice he had to be rushed to emergency. Lots of test was done, brain scan, mri, chest xray, thyroid test, you name it, all came back okay, except his CEA count was elevated....so because of that they would not do the surgery for the neck. Then today he did a CT scan of the chest and it showed a mass from the thyroid to the aorta...
Avatar m tn t just a few thin slices in a few parts of the lung. The scan definitely covered the whole lung down to the upper abdomen. Just doesn't use IV contrast >Contrast-enhanced Chest CT Angiogram (12/22/16) = normal -------- In short, no one knows what's going on and neither do I. Although I still feel the collarbone lump/node, no physician has actually felt it and therefore is not inclined to biopsy. Is there anywhere in this testing process that we would have missed something?
Avatar f tn Bronchial wall thickening at the lung bases consistent with small airways inflammation. No evidence of lung fibrosis. I went to the pulmonary dr. due to chronic cough with mucus. My dx according to PFT was that there is a minimal obstructive lung defect and dr. felt my pft numbers were consistent with gerd and being over weight. He said I should have an endoscopy done for which I have an appointment.........what is bothering me is that he never mentioned the airway inflammation.
Avatar n tn You should have a careful examination of your neck, the nerves that traverse the left side of your neck and the part of your spine where those nerves emerge. This may require an MRI of the neck and/or spine. The CT scan of your lungs would not have included these structures. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Jerry -- Hello old friend. I wandered over here because of recent discovery of a nodule in my lung that is being investigated. I posted on the Heart Rhythm forum about my ER visit that revealed this lung issue. I see you have some experience in the area, so any info you can contribute will be appreciated. Because of my past (22 years ago) history of breast cancer, I have been undergoing scans this week to make sure there are no other problem areas.

Avatar n tn X-rays are meant to scan the interior of the lungs in emergency situations, medical doctors opt to go for more powerful scanning options such as Computed Tomography (CT) scans or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans... X-rays have their own set of benefits and disadvantages so be use it wisely...
Avatar n tn I think she needs to undergo more investigative procedures like a CT scan or an MRI of chest before an exact diagnosis can be made. The prognosis will depend on the stage of cancer and the general health of your mother. I wish you all the best. Please keep me posted.
Avatar n tn you will likely be advised to get a cat scan of the chest to eval for lung cancer, but with prelim xrays they can only make a best guess. same exact thing happened to my husband nearly 2 yrs ago, found to be stage 4 lung cancer. he's been on chemo ever since, & doing very well. on the other hand, my daugter had xrays & an mri of a painful leg, & we were told it was a serious form of cancer, turned out it wasn't cancer at all, just an ordinary benign tumor.
Avatar f tn My sister has been coughing up blood, on and off for about 3 years with recurrent bouts of pneumonia; no risk factors, non-smoker, healthy. She finally went for a CT scan that showed a "mass and/or lesion" in 2 different areas; one of the lesions is blocking part of the left bronchus; one of the lesions/masses is 4 cm. There is also an area/collection of blood, which probably accounts for her hemoptysis. No weight loss, no fatigue, etc; I'm worried about the results.
