Avatar m tn My mother had an unusual type of stroke on Wednesday (10-12-16). She is still in the hospital. She can move everything legs, elbows, knees & she can talk coherently. The issue is the dizziness, weakness and nausea. She is eating and keeping food down as of 10-16-16. She gets wobbly and dizzy when she gets up or wakes up. She is starting to get up a little with a walker.
Avatar n tn ve gradulay lost the ability to walk or stand, i use a wheelchair full time, however i still currently have some movement in the top of my legs allowing me to walk on my knees or crawl around the house.
Avatar f tn I had my first MRI scan today with contrast of brain and spine, suspected MS. Have been told results take about two weeks. If it was a tumour would I hear sooner. I live in Britain .

Avatar f tn posture, for example, lying on your back with your knees and hips bent and hugging your knees towards your chest. This should take some of the pressure off the nerves in your back. Also, if you must stand, try flattening your lower back a bit by drawing in your abdomen. This should also help to take the strain off your back. In bed lie on your back with your knees bent OR on your side with your knees bent and a pillow between your knees OR on your stomach with two pillows under your abdomen.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response. I'm am being seen by my oncologist every 3 months. Since December I've had a bone scan, MRI, and a CT. Everything looks good. I had radiation weekly with carboplatin(sp) for 8 weeks and cisplatin and taxol for 12 weeks. My last treatment was a year ago, Feb. 14th. I had 3rd stage endometrial cancer. I'm 57 years old and hope to get on with my life. Do I need a higher dose of vitamin D than the daily requirement?
Avatar m tn I can lie on my left side as long as I have a pillow between my legs, and even then I need to move my legs every few seconds/minutes (depending on the severity of the pain). I have had CT scan of back, MRI of back, xrays of hip, knee, foot, ultrasound of groin.. all came back normal. This started when I was masturbating and felt a dull pain in my right groin.
Avatar m tn Thank you Kurizu. No I didn't have an MRI scan. I was first sent to a physio who said I would need an MRI scan and an operation, but when I was referred to the consultant, he just got me an Xray. On the report he sent to my GP he mentions impingement symptoms and that my ulna is slightly longer then my radius.
Avatar n tn They may need to do an MRI, or CT Scan of your neck. I have breif moments of not being able to turn my head either way, but like you it burns real bad. They think my cartroid arteries are inflamed. I will go see a cardologist for that next week, in the mean time was put on prednisone to help bring down the inflammation. The MRI and CT Scan did not show this, my doctor told me when she felt underneath the right side of the chin, (where it is tender and swollen) it feels hard around my artery.
1382548 tn?1281525662 Hi, Thank you for your question. As you must be aware that, one sided throbbing (or sharp) headache & orbital pain (eye pain preceded with aura) with numbness symptoms could be suggestive of migraine. Other factors that may induce your migraine attack may be contraceptive pills, stress or depression, bright lights, loud noise and traveling. Few women experience headache more commonly during the time of their menstrual periods & at the time of hormonal imbalance.
Avatar f tn Since posting my first question, the doctor has arranged for him to have an appointment with an ENT specialist and has suggested that an MRI scan may be necessary. Our big problem is that we have to get him to the specalist and as it is almost impossible for him to stand up wihtout severe nausea, getting him down the stairs, into a car and into the hospital is going to be a riot.
Avatar n tn For a number of year I have suffered sharp & sudden pain on the the front of my petellas/knees when kneeling. It feels almost as though I have bone splinters or small sharp objects under the skin of my knees). The pain is such that I cant bear to kneel. I'm 50 years old, a regular gym'er and swimmer I am pretty fit and active in every other way, and do not experience any other pain in any other knee position or activity with my knees.
Avatar n tn From the sounds of it, you have anxiety. If you need peace of mind, you can request and MRI, but the CT Scan does a great job. Perhaps try talking with your Dr. regarding an anxiety med, and being learning some coping strategies for anxiety. Take Care and Keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I recently had an MRI scan on one knee (assuming both knees would be similar) and the radiologist said I have a tear in the ACL as well as the PCL but said they are not bad enough to need surgery. However, he wouldn't tell me more and insisted I see another doctor to tell me more. The other doctor said he saw nothing in the MRI and once again said I should just take pain medication and rest.
Avatar m tn Wouldnt they be able to see all of that in a xray cat scan and mri?
900662 tn?1469390305 The techs have been very good at using pillows or cushions under my knees/legs during MRI scans to help relieve back stress. The scan time seemed different depending on where I had it done. I wonder if the newer machines can scan faster. I've had cervical and lumbar MRI but no thoracic MRI yet. Since the thoracic spine is the longest segment it would make sense that it would require more time to complete. Spinal MRI does use contrast if ordered, except for the lumbar region.
Avatar f tn m assuming they used metal surtures/staples during removal. Two years ago, I had a MRI scan for pain in my knees. Since then I had pain in my right side just below my rib cage. It was an acute pain immediately after the MRI scan. There is still residual pain to this day. Is it possible that something tore open? If so, can this be the cause of sharp pains in my mid back that the doctors have not been able to pinpoint after X-rays?
Avatar f tn It will require more advanced imaging than an x-ray to diagnosis your knee pain. An MRI will provide a better detailed picture of the structure of your knee. I encourage you to request one. In my opinion you may also benefit from an Orthopedic Consult. Be assertive. I hope you'll let us know how you are doing. We'll look forward to hearing from you soon.
Avatar n tn Hopefully one day you will turn this situation around and be able to stand proud at your achievements. And if you want the reassurance of an MRI, you ask for one. Yes you are overweight, yes this is likely the sole cause of your problems, but as a nurse you may have knowledge and concerns that this needs investigating further. There is for example a high probability you have some osteoarthritis in the knees, or even cartilage damage.
Avatar n tn Last month I too had a very bad fall at work, also landing on my lower back.I had the MRI scan done, with the facet block and am still experiencing pain. My Surgeon says it is all in my head, Yip, right!!! I cannot sit for long, I cannot walk too far as my feet swell and I end up in such pain, I feel for you.
Avatar n tn Dr. Kantor: I am 51 and have for months been experiencing what the doctor calls "chorea," treated now with clonazepam. Other symptoms that are wrosening are immense fatigue and feelings of weakness in my left arm and both legs below the knees. Because I have a pacemaker, I can't have an MRI. Tests done include a CAT scan, two EEG's and a PET scan, along with lots of blood and urine work. All "normal.
Avatar n tn I indeed have suffered from auras and migraine and now feel a lot less worried about the presence of plaques on the mri scan of my brain. Thank you for being very helpful.
