Avatar m tn I had a bad auto accident in Nov and after x-rays and CTon my neck A MRI was recomended. My family doc put me off work and told me not to put myself in any position to slip and fall ao hit in the head. The MRI results show the following. APdiameter of the canal at 2-3 is only 11mm. There is a reversal of normal Lordosis. moderate narrowing of the CSF space around the cord and all levels 2-7 have moderate canal narrowing along with foramina narrowing.
Avatar n tn I am a 39-year-old female, and I have been having terrible left anterior neck pain for about 1 month. The pain seems to be close to my carotid artery and runs along the trachea. My left jaw and ear also hurt. I have been to an internal medicine and ENT doctor, and I have had an MRI and CT scan of my neck, and I was told that everything appears normal. The ENT doctor said my lymph nodes are swollen, but the MRI was normal. My thyroid is not swollen and TSH and free T4 levels are fine.
Avatar m tn I have done an MRI from my neck 2 years ago and a CT scan from my head (no dye was used). They both came back normal. I’m very worried about having a brain tumor. Does it sound like a brain tumor or could I just be suffering from tension headaches and tight neck muscles?
Avatar m tn m still unsure as to whether or not I have chiari malformation, but have been having pretty bad neck stiffness with the pain now moving down my spine to between/just below my shoulders (the pain between my shoulders is a sharp pain whereas my neck pain is dull). Has anyone with chiari experienced symptoms like this? I'm currently waiting on my doctor to schedule me a cine MRI scan. I've been told that this is the only true way to determine if the CSF Flow is normal or constricted.
Avatar n tn the pain you get in shoulder area is from nerve irritation from disk prolapse.consult a doctor and do the MRI scan of cervical spine if the symptoms are severe .
Avatar n tn I understand these should be avoided while pregnant, but what if they are medically necessary? Has anyone gotten an MRI or Cat Scan while pregnant? What was the outcome, did it have an affect on your baby? Was it worth it? I have been experiencing agonizing pain in my left shoulder, neck, and arm, that sometimes radiates to my chest, making it hard to breathe. I am having a really hard time sleeping, and even functioning, and my quality of life has gone down because of it.
Avatar f tn I have severe neck pain as well on my left side. After an MRI of the cervical spine, it showed severe arthritis between my C3-C5. I have an injection done about a month ago and it didn’t do anything. Next step will be a procedure (not sure of the name) to where they burn the nerves.
Avatar n tn 1.) A hemangioma is a primary, benign tumor most common in the thoracic and lumbar spine. Most don't cause any symptoms. Do you have localized pain at T2, it would be just below the C7-T1 bump at the bottom of your neck? 2.) Says everything's fine with your spinal cord. 3.
Avatar m tn To confirm that this is the case, you need to get an MRI scan of your cervical (neck) spine. X-rays or CAT scans do not have the resolution to typically see the herniation(s). I recommend either getting your PCP to refer you to a spine orthopedic specialist or physiatrist and they will order the MRI scan. Physical therapy, epidural injections, and medications have shown efficacy at treating cervical radiculopathy.
Avatar f tn For the past 7 months I have been suffering from severe neck and shoulder pain, thought to be from mild DDD, fatique and swelling over clavicles near neck. What could this be? I have seen many doctors who upon examing the swelling say there is no mass there and not to worry about it. I worry about it very much, and suffer constantly in discomfort.
Avatar n tn my wife had a mri scan on her neck the result came back as follows mri on the C- spine showd minor degenerative changes with a normal spinal cord there disc lesion at C6/C7 which corrugates the postrior longitudinal ligament by the spinal cord .
Avatar m tn I also have severe pain in my neck when I turn it to the side or up and down.I was assured that by now I would be pretty much pain free but here I am asking why I'm not!! I had an appointment in May and June, and in the doctors notes he stated if I didn't improve then he wanted to do an MRI and CT scan with contrast and a nerve velocity test.I would really appreciate another opinion of what is going on with me.I was injured on the job and haven't received the best medical treatment.
Avatar m tn But I have no neck pain in the beginning (November,2011), but I am experiencing continuous headache and mild neck pain. The doctor prescribed medicines like Alprox 0.25 mg, Cap Engaba, Tab Ostflex OD for 10 days. During the period of usage of these medicines, I got some relief but the headache still remains. Then as per advise of Doctor, I underwent physiotherapy for 1 week and doing exercises for the neck. I underwent MRI scan for spain with the following result.

Avatar f tn Straightening of the cervical lordosis is a straight neck which is also called military neck or cervical kyphosis. If this curvature loss is significant you may experience neck pain/stiffness, shoulder pain and headaches. A traction neck pillow can help with neck pain. Degenerative disc disease (DDD) is not really a disease but this term is used to describe the changes in your spinal discs as you age. The symptoms of DDD vary from person to person and there may be no symptoms at all.
Avatar f tn I am suffering from cervical neck pain. The pain increases as i work more at home and office. There is very little in the mroning and as i begin my households and return from office, the pain increases. I was asked to go through MRI scan. The results say that there is dehydration on all the six discs from c2 to c7. My doctor said there was no problem and i have to go through phesiotherepy. I would like to know what exactly is dehydration in the discs and how can i strengthen my neck.
Avatar m tn About 2 years ago, I fell down the stairs and hit my head on a tree. They took me by ambulance and hospital did a CT scan and said I was okay. Ever since, I've had migraines, severe neck pain, bad vision, and the last year has developed into extreme back pain, upper and lower, my hip feels like it will fall out of its socket and has been hurting so badly that I cant lie on my right side anymore and my shoulder on right side also severely painful.
Avatar f tn Diseases or conditions that affect any of these tissues of the neck can lead to neck pain. Investigations of undiagnosed neck pain can include x-ray evaluation, CAT scan, bone scan, MRI scan, myelogram, and electrical tests such as electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction velocity test (NCV). Please consult a neurologist for the same . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !

4338916 tn?1353028729 i really think u need to demand a ct scan or mri scan and see what the results show up then take it from there . i cant say what the lump is but you need to really get it checked .
233622 tn?1279334905 The way I understand it is a CT scan shows finer detail that an MRI doesn't. I think the CT scan is good for small things like blood vessels and what your doctor was looking for. I do NOT know this for sure. I just remember hearing that an MRI looks at things in a different way than a CT scan. I would post this question under a new post so maybe others will see it and can answer. I have thought about seeing if there is a T3 in my area.
Avatar f tn I had a laminectomy c5-6 in 2001 in 2010 the did c3-c6. prior to 2010 surgery I had pain in neck and it was diagnosied as mylopathy. Pain all the time at base of neck and under shoulder blades after surgery Jan 6th numbness in finger tips gone and pain improved until mid April now skin of whole left hand tingels and goes numb at times. Pain in neck is constant. what does this mean?
Avatar m tn A number of things could show up on an MRI of your cervical spine; herniated disks, degenerative disease, pinched nerves, cervical spine straightening out, etc. Those were just some examples. That particular image will give a detailed picture of the lower part of the brain and the cervical spine/neck. You would be surprised the number of problems your cervical spine can cause. An X-ray really won't show alot in detail like an MRI.
Avatar m tn You need to go for an X-ray and Scan and if required MRI to diagnose your neck problem. The pain might also be due to some other problem, Eg infection, Tuberculosis etc. A visit to an orthopaedician will help in diagnosing if you have any problem with the neck muscles. We advise you to follow up with a Physician for proper diagnosis. Take care!
