mri-scan

Avatar n tn So basically, is it possible for a neurologist to suspect from multiple sclerosis by looking at a regular CAT scan, or only through MRI? Sorry to bother, I'd really appreciate a reply since the ghost of multiple sclerosis is driving me insane.

Avatar f tn I had no changes in my MRI for 3 years and then last summer 3 new lesions appeared on my MRI. The hospital had a new MRI machine since the last time and the doctor attributed these lesions to the new MRI. I have had increased symptoms of fatigue and in recent weeks a tingling along both of my legs, my feet hurt and I am having alot of back pain that sort of circles around. Should I start with my PCP to see if it is my back or go straight to my neurologist?
1517572 tn?1290796418 You could have a heavier lesion load than what was seen on the MRI and possible have symptoms throughout your body. The MRI may be hiding a few things, depending the strength of the MRI and how thick of slices of the images. So, you do need to see a neurologist. I would also say that you need to have an MRI of your cervical spine, too. You need a full blood work up. My guess is that your neurologist will find some indicators of a different autoimmune disease.
Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar m tn One of them said it is all due to ur anxiety ( Cause i do not have any bladder problems and dizziness, numbness tingling all is due to anxiety) but one said its Multiple Sclerosis+ anxiety. My MRI and EEG were clear. Currently i have high frequency of muscle tingling through out my body only when i am lying on bed plus i see double vision of any statement especially ( white in colour) on TV and laptop. Is it MS? Should I start taking Med for MS or just let it be and hope it will go away?
1972417 tn?1328356324 So I haven't gotten any better although my vitamin D levels have improved. My walking gait is horrible and I am having tingling, muscle spasms really bad at nights especially. My doctor says he thinks the viruses have attacked my nervous system and has prescribed physical therapy. He's done a brain mri and it shows normal, but I've been suffering for a long time with multiple problems. Does anyone think this EBV stuff could be ms???
Avatar f tn Differential considerations include both mild chronic small vessel ischemic change and myelinating disease such as multiple sclerosis. However, these lesions cannot be further defined. No evidence of acute infarct, cortical infarct, intracranial hemorrhage or mass. No evidence of acute intracranial abnormality.
Avatar m tn MS means Multiple Sclerosis. You happened to post you question in a forum dedicated to the discussion of multiple sclerosis :-) I'm not a radiologist, but the laguae from thee report points to vasular issues rather than nerve issues. MS attacks nerves. This may be why the doc wants a CT scan.
Avatar f tn Other causes could be brain tumour or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis is a demyelinating disease that affects the nerves of the brain and spine. The symptoms are- brain fog, memory problems, numbness and tingling, headaches, muscle weakness and many others. Please go for the CT scan. MRI is more detailed and accurate. Please consult a neurologist for the diagnosis and treatment. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
1469703 tn?1372041476 This sounds very much like multiple sclerosis, which is a demyelinating disease with multiple symptoms and signs and a diagnosis of exclusion. The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are loss of balance, muscle spasms, numbness in any area, problems with walking and coordination, tremors in one or more arms and legs.
Avatar f tn Minimal microvascular ischemic disease or small vessel ischemic disease is also called white matter disease and is usually a MRI or CT scan finding. It is an impact of other chronic diseases on brain’s white matter, unlike a disease of the brain itself, usually happens during progression of certain conditions like diabetes and hypertension. This disease places a patient at increased risk of having a stroke so appropriate life style measures need to be inculcated.
Avatar m tn well iv had bad dizziness for around a year and half alot with fatigue, headache, blind spots and black spots, quite a few more that i carnt think of atm, well i saw a neurologist and he wants me to have a mri scan, when he wrote to my doctor he said that when he checked me over "there was no focal neurological signs throughtout the nervous system but the optic discs are not entirely clear" so what does this mean exactly? optic discs are not clear?
