Mri scan lower back

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan lower back

mri-scan

Avatar m tn Burning sensation and other radiating leg pain are normally due to an impingement of the sciatic nerve in the lower back, and would usually show up on an MRI scan. A disc prolapse being the most usual. But as the sciatic nerve is the longest in the body it can be impinged anywhere along it's length, the piriformis muscle area being an alternative to lower back impingement. Check it out on google.
Avatar f tn I had a X-ray today and the doctor says my back is fine and suggested me to go for a MRI scan. Due to the cost of MRI scan, i am abit reluctant to go for it unless there is a problem with my back. I read the symptoms for Herniated Disc online. It says i will feel numbness on my back. But i don't feel any numbness at all. Pain there is, numbness nope. So Dr what do you think could be the reason for my back?
Avatar n tn I got an MRI done on my lower back and the results showed that i have low fluid in Disc Number 2.... what causes this to happen? Am I doing something wrong? I am pretty young to have back problems i think.

Avatar m tn The next day I was in total agony with pain radiating down my legs, and pain located in both the lower and middle of my back. I went to hospital and had an MRI scan which showed a degenerated L4-L5 disc and bulging disc at L5-S1 with no neural compromise. The pain continued and I was referred to an orthopaedic surgeon, with my appointment taking several months for me to be seen. In September I was sent for another MRI scan due to continued pain and weakness/numbness in both feet and toes.

Avatar f tn t have any lower back pain except when I bend over and stand up and the back is stiff. Am I wasting my money and time having an MRI on lower back? The neurologist said 2nd thing he would do would be an MRI on brain. I do have fibromyalgia but don't feel this is related. I'm not overweight and otherwise in excellent health. I don't have the classic sciatic pain either.
Avatar f tn I have had really bad lower back pain since march. It feels like extreme stiffness, and shooting pain in my glutes. I have worked with children with disabilities for years (which requires lifting). My back was beginning to get sore but I quit before it became as serious as my symptoms are now. I have had an Xray done on my lumbar region. My Xrays show minimal growth on the L5 vertebrae. My family doc spent 4 minutes talking to me about this, and was no help at all.
Avatar f tn For nearly a year I have suffered severe pain in my lower back and right buttock. I had physio which only made the pain worst. I have recently had an MRI scan and the report has indicated that I have a L5/S1 circumferential disc bulge whih displaces the exiting L5 nerve roots bilaterally.. On the left this effaces the perineural fate and contacts the L5 nerve root.
Avatar f tn I am a 27yr old and have suffered from back pain for years, it is mainly in my lower back but can travel up the spine. I have suffered with the pain for years and had to give up my fav job when I was 21yrs because of it.

Avatar m tn Ive injured my back in football working out and stuff and it would heal right up. Does anyone know about stress fractures in lower back? Do they ever heal all the way up or do they always give problems? Did I keep re-injuring to the point where it won't heal? It's just depressing I am to young to be having back problems. any information would be greatly appreciated thank you very much and sorry for the long story.

Avatar m tn I got an mri scan just before Christmas, which showed the two lower disks in my back were bulging, the doctor told me to walk everyday to fix this problem, but one month on and the pain is ten times worse than it was before, I have been experiencing a continous spasm in my back for 3 days now, and can't so simple things, even walking is a chore. I am at a loss of what to do about this.
Avatar f tn Thanks jemma wow you sound really clued up, my problem to be honest is I just don't know what is wrong only that the back pain and problems with the legs are getting worse. I've told the doctors that the first said - it's being caused by your lower back - so what can we do about it an mri? x ray? no we don't do anything about backs.
Avatar m tn I had an MRI done after 2months of pain in my lower back. I am a 43 year old female. The MRI results say l5/ s1 right paracentral disc protrusion exerting mass effect on the traversing right s1nerve root. L3 /l4 small right sub articulate / foraminal annular tear / disc protrusion. L4/ l5 broad based posterior disk buldging with small superimposed central disc protrusion mild to moderate central canal stenosis. Minimal bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.
Avatar m tn I have pain in my low back, middle back, neck, back of head hurts, left leg burns at times, both buttocks burn at times, chest pain inside right lower rib area, left ear hurts, i walk kind of wobbly,my vision is getting worse by the week it seems, my lower arms and pinky and ring fingers go numb on both sides when sleeping or sitting. I had lamonectomy l4 l5 in 1998. I had MRI on lower back and neck April 2008 which showed degenerative disc and 2 bulging disc in lower back and 1 in neck area.
Avatar m tn I used to be in gymnastics and I got injured by bending too far forward while doing stretches. Now, 5 years later, my lower back hurts and it hurts to touch the place where the first or second bones are from the bottom. I've tried physical therapy and there I learned exercises that help relieve the pain temporarily. Is this lower back strain or something more serious? Is it a ligament that has been stretched too far? I'm afraid I might have damaged the spinal cord.
Avatar m tn spine has that little curve at the lumbar/sacral join, and yours does not, then yeah, something is going on there and an MRI or CT scan will reveal it. If that were my back, I would first demand that the medical clinic give me an MRI or CT, if they refuse, then keep telling that unless proper imaging is used, the guessing game (and subsequent wage loss benefits) will continue for a long time.
601516 tn?1224884637 After my first set, I was finally able to address the low back pain that was on the back burner due to the neck pain. I had an X-ray, MRI, and physical tests done on my low back. The physical tests indicated, without a doubt, that I had herniated a disc, probably L-4 or -5. The MRI report came back perfectly clear. My physiatrist thought that perhaps the person who read the report missed something, because he looks at hundreds, if not thousands of lower back MRIs every year.
Avatar m tn I have a strange pain in my lower right back that no one can seem to explain. It it always in the same spot and feels like a deep pain. Its not in my joints or in my muscles. I can not bend backwards at all without a very sharp pain that almost feels like it goes through every bone in my body. I will wake up with severe spasms going up the right side of my back, around my side and shooting pain going down my leg and can feel it in my knee joint at times.
Avatar n tn I have heard that most bone metastasis from breast cancer are osteolytic and might not show up well on a bone scan. Is this true? I have been having pain in my pelvis and my family doctor ordered an MRI of my lower spine which was normal, but told me that an MRI of my pelvis was overkill. The pain has has not gone away and I cannot get in to see my oncologist for another month. I feel like I have "cried wolf" so many times with aches and pains that the doctors brush me off now.
Avatar n tn I am a active 24 year old and have been expierencing aching hips sometimes both at once, sometimes just one and the pain hurts in my lower back and hip,and allso radiated down the back of my thigh and sometimes into my knee when it happens. The hip pain is worse in teh eveing,if i am sitting too long,or too active that dayallso i notice i have the pain when it rains or is cold outside. The pain allso wakes me up at night and interferes with my sleep.
Avatar f tn I would suggest an X-ray/MRI ( stay away from CT/CAT scans if you're able due to radiation exposure. MRIs are safer, and the can show the same things as the CT/CAT scan, unless you have some unmentioned contraindications, which are reasons why you cannot have an MRI such as metal medically implanted devices. Best of luck, feel free to get in touch with me if I can be of any further assistance J.J.
