Avatar f tn I have been having upper right abdominal pain for about 1 year now with nausea and vomiting if I eat anything that is greasy or spicy, they did the HIDA scan with CCK which had normal results as far as my gallbladder however they said the radioactive material did not make it all the way thru my liver and the doctor sent me for an abdominal MRI and they just called me and said it was normal .
Avatar f tn Have you already had all the other testing done? Fiberspect, MRI, Viral load HCV RNA? I heard that England is doing what they call an ultrafast cat scan to detect the condition of the liver but the Gold Standard here in America is the Biopsy-which, I wonder costs the less?
1714226 tn?1308625105 Hi, my name is Patty and I am 29 years old. To say that liver disease runs in my family would be a huge understatement, for my grandmother, aunt, and my father have all died of cirrhosis of the liver. Neither of the 3 were alcoholics either. Since the age of 18, I have had routine checkups and blood work, keeping a close eye on my liver function and health. In January of 2010, I was diagnosed with gallbladder disease and had surgery to remove it.
Avatar m tn What I will tell you might seem frightening at first but I am telling this so you realize how serious liver disease or cancer of the liver can be. Diagnosing illness on your own based on what you have read on the Internet may be fine if someone has minor non-life-threatening health issues but if you have “scarring of the liver” and your doctor is worried about liver cancer, this is something that you should take very seriously.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing symptoms over the last 2 years and I am concerned that I may have Liver Disease. Symptoms have included: * Nausea (gone) * Right side abdominal pain (gone) * Burning and red palms (recent symptom) * Swollen breasts (could this be linked to increased Oestrogen?) * Terry's Nails (I think) I have had over 15 LFT tests, an MRI, an Ultrasound scan, 2 Fibroscans and 2 Fibrotests and all have come back completely normal.
Avatar m tn the dr wants to see the morhology of my liver. the entire year nothing was mentioned about the ct scan, until i was finished with treatment.
Avatar f tn Low estrogen and low thyroid function is often the cause. Liver dysfunction (get liver enzymes done—liver function test), kidney dysfunction (get kidney function test done), and anemia can make a person appear drunk. Poor sleep pattern and sleep problems like sleep apnea too can cause brain fog. Sleep studies by sleep specialists can help diagnose this. Low Vit D or Vit B12 too could be the cause.
148588 tn?1465778809 When evaluating a patient with newly suspected NAFLD, it is important to exclude co-existing etiologies for chronic liver disease including hemochromatosis, autoimmune liver disease, chronic viral hepatitis, and Wilson's disease. Mildly elevated serum ferritin is common in patients with NAFLD and it does not necessarily indicate increased iron stores. Elevated serum ferritin and transferrin saturation in patients with suspected NAFLD should lead to testing for genetic hemochromatosis.
Avatar m tn Only a biopsy can properly stage liver disease. Knowing how advanced your liver disease is very important as it can determine when you should start treatment. Maybe the doc didn't do the biopsy correctly? What part didn't was difficult or you. It is really pretty much painless. The thought is worse than what happens. Did you get something to relax you first? You should ask. Tell the nurse your nervous and uncomfortable before the proceedure.
Avatar n tn nothing else and was not noted as a problem as scan impressions were normal aside for reason for scan (likely benign liver lesion). is this normal? as stated there were no numbers or %s given.
1084115 tn?1385228589 Cirrhosis can be diagnosed or confirmed from viewing the liver using ultrasound, CT and MRI. There is no need for a liver biopsy to diagnose stage of liver disease as cirrhosis is obvious from images. Complete Cirrhosis is easy to diagnose because by definition it means the basic architecture of the liver is changed from a normal healthy or fibrotic liver.
Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar f tn while in the hospital for infection due to the end stage liver disease he did hidascan,ct scan, mri, ultrasound and lots of blood work at the varius times.
Avatar n tn I got a "healthy" CT scan back with liver lesions noted. How do they know whether or not lesions are OK? Do they look different if they are malignant or cystic? THANKS!
Avatar f tn piper111, If you do not have advanced liver disease with fibrosis/cirrhosis, you shouldn't worry. Focal liver lesions in people without advanced liver disease are almost always benign. Having an MRI followup in 6 months is the best course of action. MRI imaging is the best way to characterize focal liver lesions. The combo of the CT with the MRI will allow your doctors to assess things. Hope all will be well. Keep us informed.
Avatar n tn I too was diagnosed with liver lesions about a year ago- I have two, 2.9 cm and 4.3 cm. I have had a ct scan, 4 ultrasounds, and an MRI. I just went to my GP and he said not to worry, if they were metastatic disease they would have grown or even killed me by now. My liver enzymes are also normal. I have made a decision, for my own peace of mind, to go see a liver specialist at the University of PA in Philadelphia.
Avatar f tn Since you seem to have run into a dead end, I would suggest getting others to look at your case with fresh eyes. Another hepatologist at a liver transplant center for a second opinion. Should they rule at liver disease and any related issues, they can refer you to other specialties if they suspect your pain is related to something other than liver related issues. Liver transplant can call in whoever they need to to address your symptoms.

Avatar n tn I have done cranial MRI testing. On MRI results said "".Cranial MRI indicating changed signal intensity in basal ganglia area, in both side, simetricaly what can match/fit Wilson's disease". Im waiting for other tests to be done. How reliable is MRI in diagnosing Wilson's?
