Avatar f tn Finding on MRI recommendation follow up with MRI with contrast to further evaluate complex cyst versus mass if sufficient kidney function. Had blood work and received a go ahead for second MRI awaiting scheduling. Why are so many studies needed for a diagnosis and referral to urologist?
Avatar f tn I have been having pain in my right lower stomach and the left too but not as bad for over a week. I went to my doctor and had to see a new doctor cause mine was off that day she said she believe it could be ovarian cysts so she order an ultra sound they couldn't get me in till the next week. I was hurting so bad I went to the er the doctor did a ct scan and said he seen nothing on it except a spot on my kidney i should have an mri on.
Avatar f tn If you start having problems, your doctor might want you to have a CT or MRI scan of your kidney to see if the cyst is growing. Remember that most people with kidney cysts never have problems and never need extra CT scans. Most kidney cysts are harmless and don't need to be removed. ref:http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/common/kidney/653.html.
Avatar n tn I have had a CT scan, then a sonogram and then my urologist after being away for a week sends me out for an MRI and a kidney function BUN Creatine blood test ( Which came back normal) If they found a cyst on my kidney, why is he sending me out for another MRI? Are they not telling me something? I feel like my doctors are holding back on something yet my GP and the radiologist have looked and said it was a cyst.
Avatar n tn My PD forgot that I was using metformin till I told him and told me to stop the medication for 2 weeks before the scan. If my kidney results comes with normal level of creatinine is it safe to do the contrast? Can a MRI without the contrast reveal any more than just a CT scan. I would rather pay for the MRI than CT scan with contrast. I do not have insurance but I am paying out my pocket all procedures. Thank you for your answer.
Avatar f tn 4cm mass on my right kidney. Doc then sent me for an MRI and referred me to a urologist. The MRI came back with cortical scarring on both kidneys but no mass. Urologist says all looks good and nothing to worry about (urologist did not obtain any history information and was sending me on my way until I mentioned work up by a urologist six years ago).

Avatar m tn ct scan: very small kidney stone and urologist said it is very small and hence does not require treatment with antibiotics. the radiologist was suspicious about the thickness of bladder and hence urologist said he will do a cystoscopy. cystoscopy: normal findings mri for back-pain: minimal bulging in L5S1. urologist told the problem is prosratitis.
543171 tn?1215331582 It would be difficult for me to tell you a definite diagnosis with out physical examination and a copy of the MRI plates. What you can do is to bring the MRI plates and all other tests done (IVP, blood and urine tests) to the nephrologist for proper evaluation. Take care always and God bless. Do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn When she went to the nephrologist (kidney doctor), he ordered an MRI. The MRI showed there was absolutely nothing on her kidney. It was just an error or a misreading of the ultrasound. An ultrasound is not as accurate as an MRI. Just to ease your mind, talk to your doctor, explain your concerns and ask whether you should go to a specialist to have it checked out or maybe get another (more accurate) test like a CT scan or MRI. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Thank you very much Dr.Mathur for your interest and response. I did some tests. I have chronic hematuria (10 years) with no explanation. My WBC are in range 15-20 T. Apparently due to anxiety. Persistent thickening of the left adrenal gland. No history of alcohol or drug abuse. In fact I can't drink a glass of wine. I used to smoke but not anymore. I have history of thyroid enlargement and was prescribed iodine but in Canada Dr. said that I should stop.
Avatar f tn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_resonance_imaging The above link tells you pretty much everything you didn't want to know about MRIs. I had a brain MRI one time, I had to be sedated because I was afraid of it, they even have a little mirror in there so you can see out of it, sort of claustrophobic in the machine, and they had a microphone and radio in there so I could talk to the techs. When the machine started up, it was VERY loud, surprised me, kind of made a bumping racket.
974371 tn?1424653129 Due to gastro problems I was having, MRI and CT scan were done. Those tests detected a lesion on my left kidney. Was eventually referred to a Urologist who ordered an ultrasound. She was NOT happy with the way the test was done or the radiology report. She wanted another one done in 3 mos. She has since left that group. I made an appt myself with a urologist I had seen years ago. He ordered another ultrasound to be done in 3 mos, which I had done today.
Avatar n tn What do the results of MRI mean?Impression: there are a few nonspecific foci of T2 prolongation in the subcortcal white matter in the left frontal and parietal lobes. The differential includes demyelination, sequels of chronic small vessel ischemic change, vasculitis and lime disease.
Avatar m tn On my last CT scan of abdomen (liver/kidney) the doctor writing the report states, "Slight contour abnormality within the right kidney corresponds to an area of irregular enhancement, measuring 2.2cm in size. (6 month prior scan by another doctor read 16mm). Impression: "Ill defined hypodensity in the posterior right kidney as above, also stable in size. Appearance remains indeterminate.
Avatar n tn Diagnosis is made with the help of CT scan or MRI. If the cyst is small and asymptomatic, then no treatment is required, your doctor will suggest to repeat the CT scan after 6-12 months to see if it is increasing in size. If it is increasing in size causing pain, fever, frequent urination or if the cyst is filled with dense tissue or calcifications then open surgery is required. Consult a urologist for further assistance. Best.
Avatar n tn Just found in some medical records that on a scan there is a 5mm cortical cyst on lower right kidney? Is it something that should e followed up on?
Avatar n tn and recommended immediate surgery to remove the kidney. My step-father and my mother have serious qualms about surgery to remove a kidney without even knowing for certain if it is cancerous. What questions should they be asking?
Avatar f tn He wasvtold scan also showed he has another 2 cysts on kidney but they are simple cysts they think as well as 2 stones. And scan showed cysts on liver.thanks for replying to me.
974371 tn?1424653129 I had the MRI done and that report said left kidney has a non enhancing T1andT2 dark 10mm lesion involving the upper pole. I don't know what that means. My GI doc does not seem too concerned. I see a Urologist today and am a bit nervous.
583644 tn?1221445546 My body tells me it is my kidneys. I have kidney stones, but my GP insists that the pain is not from my kidney stones because they are not obstructing the duct. I asked him if it was possible that my stones were moving around and he told me that kidney stones do not move around and they do not cause pain.
6726865 tn?1384457628 t from a vaginal source. I saw my primary who referred me to a urologist. He ordered an abdominal CT scan. He went over the kidney lesion but never mentioned anything about my liver. I also tested positive for blood in the urine three more times since then. The CT scan results are as follows: Punctate left hepatic lobe calcification. 0.9 left hepatic love lesion seen only during arterial phase imaging likely represents an adenoma or a flash filling hemangioma.
Avatar n tn I have had a MRI and a nuclear Cat Scan, that shows nothing wrong. I did have surgery two years ago to remove a mole in that area, and I also have a 8milm Kidney stone, which is in the upper corner of the Kidney. The Kidney specialist says this can not be causing the pain. I have gone through Physical therapy, but doesn't help. I get the pain every day now, and am frustrated on how to relieve thepain with out medication.
