I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.

my wife had a mri scan on her neck the result came back as follows mri on the C- spine showd minor degenerative changes with a normal spinal cord there disc lesion at C6/C7 which corrugates the postrior longitudinal ligament by the spinal cord .

SO a CINE MRI is very important to have done as well as a brain MRI W/WO contrast, a cervical MRI, a thoracic and lumbar MRI as Syringomyelia needs to be ruled out too, With the lumbar MRI they can look to rule out tethered cord, and with all areas also take a look at the disks to see if there is an issue with bulging disks, scoliosis...etc. With the CSF being restricted this can stop all neuro signals from getting to ur brain and organs, that means ur heart,lungs, kidneys...

The mammo showed 1 lump, which has the characteristics of a lymph node, the ultrasound showed 2 lumps (above the nipple toward the armpit), which also has the characteristics of lymph nodes, then they did the mri, but they gave me no information at all. I see my doctor 6/12. My problem is my Type A persoanlity! I like all my info and then act. Any ideas?

I want to say something about the MRI and with the help of MRI you can easily get the information about the scapula. In many cases MRI gives information about structures in the body that can't be seen as well with an X-ray, ultrasound, or CT scan. MRI can find changes in the structure of organs or other tissues. It also can find tissue damage or disease, such as infection or a tumor. So this is better than the X-ray or CT Scan.

I am now 48 and over the years have suffered chronic fatigue and permanent nubness in right hand and foot. I have had a recent MRI scan of my brain and neck that shows a 4th legion in the brain and since my last scan a year ago a syrinx in my spine between 5th and 6th disc due to a protruding disc that has got worse.

It is my understanding that the CAT scan can not pick up certain things and I am concernd about a tumor being missed because I can not obtain an MRI. Can you please comment on the differences between a CAT scan and an MRI and how concerned I should be about not being able to obtain an MRI? Can you suggest the best way to proceed with getting a diagnosis given the complications of having a defibrillator?

I had a transvaginal scan in December which showed multiple fibroids (4 of note which are 6.5cm, 2 x 3cm and 2cm) and a 4 cm cyst on right ovary (probably dermoid). My symptoms are heavy, prolonged and irregular periods, constant lower back pain, constipation, weight gain (my uterus equivalent to 14 week pregnancy). Saw Gynaecologist last week who did CA-125 blood test and uterine biopsy (awaiting results) and told me to have another scan in 3 months but to consider hysterectomy.

I wonder if I should be asking for another CT scan again so that it can be compared if I get the MRI can we believe that one if it says I am fine? The guy wants to do a MUGA. I've had four last one in 1999 EF 74% all heart function improved. All my EF's from the echo's are coming back between 55 and 65%. Why the MUGA? I should make another appointment with him and discuss this or send a letter. Why the MUGA?

I was wondering if someone could tell me which is better to examine someone looking for any cause of psychotic episodes -- MRI or CT scan? Also, what conditions might show up on either exam as the source of the problem? Thank you.

They can however, detect mental illness such as scitzophreneia which i know because i was diagnosed through an MRI. The only mental illness an MRI scan able detect is an actually different brain connections than that of a normal brain. Ive had one done for mental illess! Can you describe some of your symptoms, what you feel and how often yolou feel it? I know your question is based on needing to know where to get a private MRI scan, which i am unsure of!!

Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.

I have been referred to Physio and had an initial assesment where the consultant said that it looks like Degenerative Disc Disease, he said the only way to determine this better is by having an MRI scan, on going back to my G.P.
