mri-scan

Avatar n tn i had mri scan of my brian 3 weeks ago and now want me to have another with the dye injected first . does this mean they have found somehing wrong ?
Avatar n tn I have heard that most bone metastasis from breast cancer are osteolytic and might not show up well on a bone scan. Is this true? I have been having pain in my pelvis and my family doctor ordered an MRI of my lower spine which was normal, but told me that an MRI of my pelvis was overkill. The pain has has not gone away and I cannot get in to see my oncologist for another month. I feel like I have "cried wolf" so many times with aches and pains that the doctors brush me off now.
Avatar f tn Hi all. I recently had a back mri scan with the use of contrast dye as I had a discectomy November 2018 . I paid for the scan image on cd but haven’t had the results yet. Obviously I’m not medically trained so have no idea what the images look like however I wondered if anyone know what the few blobs are on a image that are next to the spine? As they came back as a white glow.
Avatar n tn I know because I have your problems, the floaters, the flashes with shape, and the trails. I took an MRI, blood scan, and numerous eye tests and have seen many, many doctors, all turned out normal. my neuro opthamologist finally diagnosed the problem as palinopsia and told me to be under observation for the next 5 mths.
Avatar m tn Radiation Risk for CT scan: CT emits a powerful does of radiation, in some cases equivalent to about 200 chest x-rays, or the amount most people would be exposed to from natural sources over 7 years. That dose can alter the makeup of human tissue and create free radicals, molecules that can wreak havoc on human cells. Your body can often repair that damage--but not always. And When it doesn't, the damage can lead to cancer.
Avatar f tn I can understand your confusion. Both MRI and CT scan can be used to screen for an aneurysm/dilatation. MRI is a safer option as it does not expose a patient to radiation, but the quality of image is poor as compared to CT scan (which exposes a patient to radiation). In case of doubt, CT scan imaging is done. So, yes, it is possible that a MRI is unable to catch a small aneurysm or gives a false image of an aneurysm/dilatation.
Avatar m tn The vice versa is true for MRI. MRI can produce images in any plane but CT scan cannot. CT scan uses X-ray imaging whereas MRI uses radio waves and magnets. Radiation exposure is moderate in CT scan and there is no radiation exposure in MRI. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else. Take care!
Avatar f tn I might not be able to have an MRI because of dental work (metal post under crowned tooth). I had the CT scan today. If they find something that needs further investigation or if the image wasn't clear enough, I will ask about having an MRI.
Avatar n tn Does spinal hardware affect the outcome of a MRI when a scan is done on your spine? if so How?
Avatar f tn d with AA based on ONE image of a CT scan, especially if it was for calcium scoring, GET AN MRA !! MRA is 3-D, not slices like a CT. Slices have margin of error; 3-D image does not. What really freaked me was that THREE doctors had read the CT scan and all came back with the 4 cm. But if the slice was taken at the wrong angle, then the only way to read it is as the measurement from the wrong angle! DANG ! There IS hope for people in the gray area (around 4 cm). Get that MRA !!!!!
866647 tn?1283979365 We were thinking of imposing this poem on top of a black and white image of a MRI brain scan showing demyelination. Are you willing to contribute your MRI scan to this project? We'll be creating t-shirts to raise money for our myelin repair research.
Avatar f tn The CT scan I had of my chest says that on only one image my aorta is 4 cm. My cardiologist says that because the way the CT cuts the images at an angle one could get a reading larger than what it is. We will do a MRI in June. Has anyone else heard of this? Wouldn't an aneurysm show up on the other angles of the CT scan and not just one image?
Avatar n tn ll be told you have Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy as I was told, I have to use OTC eye drops for the pain, halos, glares, night driving is limited, currently use optive no preservatives, helps alot, but gadolinium causes other problems with muscle, bone pain, walking, balance, etc, up to 18 months p last contrasted MRI scan,SAY NO to all contrasts, inhaled, ingested, injected, local or otherwise, they are poison, see gadolinium or MRI side effect, it's willis law firm, ignore him, see sx.
Avatar f tn CT scan is very insensitive to detection of pituitary tumours, if a sellar tumour is suspected and hormonal levels are deranged for example raised prolactin, ideal to be done is Contrast enhanced dynamic MRI.
3054080 tn?1358722856 My son made a very interesting observation because this image does appear to be (and believe me, I am far from an expert and it is all Greek to me) of the left side of my brain because it is toward the end of the scan. The image in question is image 27/30. Anyway, I hope you all are doing well and have a great holiday weekend!
13766472 tn?1431393364 a note is made of a 3 mm ring calcification in the right posterior fossa slightly inferior and lateral to the 4th ventricle (image 6 ) this finding may be extra axle or intra axle at the anterior periphery of the cerebellum. It is of a questionable acute significance. What does this mean.. I have been having horrible headaches on the side of my head and bottom of the back of my skull. This is why the scan was done.
1448748 tn?1312956208 The first line diagnostic is usually CT scan. They are fast and simple. MRI has complex sequences and the derived computer generated image is not anatomically referenced. Anytime accuracy is required, like surgical films or radiation therapy planning, CT is used. Since CT is a real image, everything is rendered anatomically correct. Most hospitals have 1.5T or 3T MRI. The .7T Open MRIs and 1T units are usually in the imaging centers.
Avatar f tn The MRI contrast alters the magnetic properties of tissue. The altered properties differentiate tissue types on the MRI image. Unfortunately, MRI contrast dye containing the heavy metal gadolinium has been the cause of a disease called Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF) or Nephrogenic Fibrosing Dermotherapy (NFD), a serious condition that starts in the skin of the arms and legs and spreads to other parts of the body.
Avatar m tn would anybody else like this forum to host a categorized image library of MRI scans--various processes (T1, T2, PD, etc.) and axial and saggital views of both the brain and the spine? I don't even know if it's possible to do that here, but it would be interesting for my curiosity (and, OK, to satisfy propensity to try to self-diagnose while I'm in limbo).
Avatar m tn A magnetic resonance angiogram (MRA) is a type of magnetic resonance image (MRI) scan that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to provide pictures of blood vessels inside the body
20826743 tn?1525485251 I examined my brain scan images from my MRI physician. My question is about a white area length measured 0.29cm and wide measured 0.23cm outside the Telencephalon's circumference. The approximate location is upper right degree 80 from the X-axis on top section scan. There is laboratory report and experiment done about the micro-electrode array. Q1. Can I be planted this possible micro-electrode array without I noticed? Q2.
Avatar m tn It makes no difference whether it is closed bore or not. The imaging principle remains the same. It is the contrast agent that enhances the images. While not all MRIs require contrast, it can be very beneficial in certain cases to show certain anatomy more clearly. It improves diagnostic accuracy, especially in cases of certain tumors, blood vessels, inflammation or infection. MRI contrast agents do not contain iodine and rarely cause allergic reactions or other problems.
396621 tn?1202094714 i insisted on more test, this week i went for mri,ct,emg . i had films for mri,but not report. i an clearly see c5/+6 bulging into the fluid area of cord, but not into dark area as c3/4 , and there is a white area in the central cord part at c5/6 level . the neurologist that did my emg tells me that there is a problem with c5/6 (big surprise),and that i have severe carpal tunnel in my hands(c5/6 maybe ?) while waiting to see doc today i dug out my old mri before surgery .
Avatar m tn You should always inform the operator of any metal in your body for an MRI scan. These work on a different principle and use very large magnets which can seriously heat up metal in the body, causing tissue damage.
