763362 tn?1236624790 I have been referred to Physio and had an initial assesment where the consultant said that it looks like Degenerative Disc Disease, he said the only way to determine this better is by having an MRI scan, on going back to my G.P.
Avatar m tn I have seen my PCP and I have had a CT scan done. I have tried the MRI machine but even with a valium I cannot complete the test because I am very claustrophobic. I have not been having any headaches or any upset stomach or vomiting. My balance and memory are fine. Im not on any medication. I am 33 year old overweight male. I have had all bloodwork and diabetes test performed and come back normal. I just completed a heart echo and carotid artery test and came out normal as well.
Avatar f tn That is a specific version of the test but how the test itself works remains the same. A CT scan is a completely different test and might not show the same results. I also speak to the staff in advance about any accomodations I might need. I have generally acheived positive results and they have been able to run the tests without any concerns. If you have any specific phobias you might try posting in the anxiety forum as well.
Avatar f tn Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.

Avatar f tn I still suffer with the weakness in my left arm, some weakness in the right side of my face, lightheadedness and dizziness, but all occasionally and not constantly. If my next MRI scan is negative is it possible that these events were not strokes? If it were a stroke can someone suggest something to help improve the weakness that I experience in my left arm, some days I feel that I can barely lift my left arm but I have not really noticed any change in the strength of the arm.
Avatar f tn Thanks Sumanadevii, Can you (or anyone else) explain to me how the whole MRI works re which part of the spine is looked at? ie which part of the spine is responsible for intercostal symptoms; arm symptoms etc?? Thanks, Zel.
Avatar m tn has anyone had a cat scan recommended with contrast, after treatment with alpha 2a & ribavirin? i do not want any contrast medium injected into me & i don't want all the radiation of 3 yrs of background exposure. i am considering a fibroscan. my dr says without using the contrast dye, the ct is worthless. i had 11 months of treatment for 1b hep c. i had 2 blood transfusions in 1982. had a liver bx 2007 under general, before my treatment.
1310035 tn?1305621642 ve found works best now, is a combination of Gabapentin and Diazepam. It does not get rid of the pain completely, but I assure you, I could not function properly if I was going it alone. Good luck, I know how hellish it is living with the constant foot pain.
Avatar f tn Hi there. The MRI and bone scan works by two very different mechanisms. An MRI is an imaging study where it will only detect abnormal topographical or physical structures of the areas scanned. A bone scan can detect areas in the bone of increased bone turn over or increased remodelling, much like what is seen in patients with metastatic cancers to the bone/spine.
Avatar f tn another thing , we went to florida we were walking around the block, he passed out, had to call 911 , he spent two night in the hospital...MRI Brain scan, chest x ray, thyroid, the works , it showed nothing, only what we knew , that he has cervical spondolosis , but the CEA count is the prob. so we come back to Jamaica , then they decide to do Bone scan, and ct scan of the chest which showed the mass........

Avatar f tn Hi, last year I had an MRI scan. I was having it as the Dr was looking to see if I had an AVM on the brain, I get a lot of headaches and have an AVM on my right forearm. When I went to see the Dr he told me my results, he said there is a malformation there but it isnt an AVM. He then pointed to the temporal lobes and said they are low. I should of asked him what that meant, but I never ask questions when Im there, I just say to myself I should of asked this and I should of asked that.
Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
