Hi Lallan, thanks for your response. My father has since had an MRI scan to check his stomach and was told that he has some cysts. Luckily the cancer has not spread, but at least the MRI scan put my fathers mood at ease. He is also taking pills, I guess for the same reason as you say, against acidity. I have heard that most bone metastasis from breast cancer are osteolytic and might not show up well on a bone scan. Is this true? I have been having pain in my pelvis and my family doctor ordered an MRI of my lower spine which was normal, but told me that an MRI of my pelvis was overkill. The pain has has not gone away and I cannot get in to see my oncologist for another month. I feel like I have "cried wolf" so many times with aches and pains that the doctors brush me off now.

And I agree, with the worry of having cancer (my MRI is for my back), but will have x-rays for a spot on my lungs... the anxiety gets worse. Happy and Healthy New Year....

Hi, I hope someone can give me a little advice. I recently had an MRI (NOT for my thyroid), but the exam picked up the following: "cluster of subcentimeter T2 hypointense regions. Could represent calcifications, possibly associated with a goitrous nodule". I have no idea what any of this means, and my MD scheduled an ultrasound, but it's a month away. I have a sister who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer many years ago and just got a clean bill of health.

For three days use "natural honey and water and FRESH lemon juice solution" and don't use any animal products(meat,milk,...) and sugar.

I am sorry you are having those symptoms and your ca 125 has gone up. If you can afford it I would choose a Pet scan. An MRI or Cat scan just covers a certain part of your body. A Pet scan covers your whole body and I think the cancer shows up better due to the contrast they use. If there is cancer anywhere in your body it will light up. It gives me more peace of mind. There are other things that can cause your ca 125 to go up and you are still in the normal range.

Was at the doctors today had a scope to my stomach have palaps in stomach but there benign, also have 3 spots on liver,had CT scan they recommended mri, could not do test due to clastfobia, doctor thinks beign, but not sure recommended CT scan in 6 months to see if ther is any chang in size, doe this mean it could be cancer , very upset due to family history father colon cancer, mother stomach cancer & brother lung cancer, all died, need some help to know what I have to deal with.

HI i went for a ultra scan on my womb thinking i was going through the change,but they found a shadow in my right kidney,sent me for a ct scan it was inconclusive but know calling it a tumour.Is it cancer? Know i have to go for a mri scan and another ultra scan,im worried as my mum had renal failure and cancer in her kidneys,plus her mum died when my mum was 4 of kidney problems,why do results take so long when you waiting and worried.I havnt lost weight,not over tired no blood in urine.

hey my friend may have breast cancer recurrence in uterus ovarys... she had an mri for hip recently...would this have shown anything? or is it a totally different mri.

A ct scan recently showed a 1.4 cm lesion so I was sent for a follow up MRI. Although the lesion did not show any characteristics of HCC, the doctor wants me to repeat the MRI in 3 months. I understand the MRI radiology report but I am a bit confused with this line under impression: 1.4 cm posterior hepatic segment focus of arterial phase enhancement without corresponding abnormality on additional sequences may be perfusional in nature.

Have you been scheduled for tests that will be able to determine what is actually going on? Have you been scheduled for either a CT scan or MRI?

Myself and all patients with liver cancer have MRIs with contrast every 3 months at minimum. I have had liver cancer for about 2 years and had MRI with contrast every 6 months since 2007. So I figure I have has about 20 MRIs with contrast in the last 5-6 years. And even more often like when a have followup after cancer treatments. Contrast agents are used to differentiate between the background of cirrhotic liver and other things such as lesions. There no side effects.

Well instead of doing an MRI on my husband because of the nodule they did another cat scan. The said there is one 12mm smooth nodule on his lower right lobe so now they are going to do a PET scan, he's having that done on the 20th. I am confused. Why the PET scan do they suspect cancer?? From reading the different posts I was under the impression that they do a cat scan every 6 mos. to monitor the nodule. Is the fact that the Dr. requested a PET scan bad news?

Thank you for your feedback. I have one follow up question, I had the CT scan a year ago and am having another tomorrow. Can a liver mass grow that quickly? It is to the right of my belly button and goes all the way up to the area under my ribs. I'm super freaked out so any advice would be great.

What is the indication for CAT scan? What are they trying to detect?

The ultrasound was done to rule out ovarian tumor due to high testosterone levels, as well as a ct scan to rule out adrenal tumor. The MRI was with contrast. I am scheduled for laperscopic surgery to do a biopsy.

Other tests used for diagnosing pancreatic cancer are CT scan/MRI, ERCP and percutaneous needle biopsy. Any test result has to be correlated clinically. If you are still in doubt get your doubts clarified after consulting your doctor. Hope it helps. Best luck and regards!

All cancers are the same, so the therapies for one will necessarily work on any other cancer. If it works for colon it will work for prostate. Even prostate cancers have varied outcomes and may be someday reclassified as unique entities. You think side-effects will occur without fail. These will happen in a percentage of patients and severity is likewise varied.

of approximately 5mm, and my doctor says it could be cancer. The doctor then ordered an MRI. Nothing showed up on the MRI. Then he ordered another CT scan. I was told that things looked good since it didn't seem to be growing. When I meet with him about 3 weeks later things have changed. Now the radiologist isn't so sure. Maybe it has grown. My doctor wants to do another MRI in 2 months. I wondering if it's times to get a second opinion?

m claustrophobic and probably going to have an MRI, not looking forward to it but still I find it a better option compared to a CT scan. By the way, each the MRI and CT scan are somewhat different in their function/purpose, so take that into consideration too. Good luck to you!

My ACTH test is 53 range 6-50 cortisol is 25 range 6-22 is this considered high? Doc is looking for my bad fatigue problem. Going by rumpled my ACTH test was not done in a chilled tube so am going to have it redone. So far had 24 hour urine high cortisol dexa blood draw high. Also MRI on pituary nothing showed but read rumpled post saying they can be hidden . My doc wants to see disc of MRI don't trust radiologist.

Is there anyone out there that have had it return so many times? I am awaiting results of CT scan and MRI scan to see if it has spread beyond the thyroid bed and lymph nodes in the neck. I would love to hear from anyone who has had a similar journey to mine.

Also, when I check on the internet, it said to detect for ovarian cancer, they usually do blood test or a CT scan. So can somebody tells me if the MRI is necessary or will the MRI able to tell whether my large ovarian cyst got cancer cell or not. I am really puzzled, if somebody can give me some insight I would be much appreciated.
