Avatar m tn There are many many causes for this problem and they need to be systematically worked through starting with medical eye exam by Eye MD specially trainined in this problem. It could be a problem in the eye, it may not even be an eye problem but a disease cause myasthenia gravis.

Avatar f tn For those of you who haven't read my previous post, I've been experiencing some odd neuorological symptoms. A little over a month ago,I developed symptoms including persistent one sided headache, stiff neck, unequal pupils, right eye pain, light sensitivity, feeling of pressure or "heaviness" in right eye, seeing flashes and floaters in my vision and olfactory hallucinations (smelling smoke when no one is smoking). Ive seen 2 opthamologists, 2 GP's and a neurologist.
Avatar f tn Can you please explain my MRI of the brain done with and without contrast please: On T2 weighted and FLAIR sequences, there are multiple subcentimeter round ovoid foci of high signal in the right frontal lobe periventricular white matter, in addition to several subcentimeter lesions in the periventricular and subcortical white matter in the left frontal lobe and the subcortical white matter in the posterior right frontal lobe.
Avatar f tn Thank you! I will post the MRI results in a couple weeks (scan is a week away). I was trying to come up with strategies if the MRI didn't show anything obvious. The neurologist worried me a bit because he seemed concerned that it may not and wasn't sure where to go if it wasn't conclusive. But I guess its still wait and see time. 6 weeks and counting!
Avatar m tn If your optic nerves are hair line connected what is the percentage that they could disconnect themselves from the eye?
Avatar m tn hi doctor thanks for the response well i havent done an MRI from my head only a CT Scan. But i have done an MRI from my neck which was normal. Could this be related to stress (i suffer from anxiety) or a migraine? because i havent had this kind of pain in my eyes before it just happened yesterday and its much better today but still hurts.
Avatar f tn The hospital we took her to right after she fell gave her the ct scan. She was told to go to the eye doctor after that by her pyshical therapist. The eye doctor did 7 tests on her eyes. Behind the left eye he said it was almost completely black. He also said about how her left eye goes outward. He told her to go to a higher up eye doctor at a hospital thats whats going on now. I just wanted to know what could cause the eye doctor to find black behind her eye.
Avatar f tn You should consider seeing an neuroophthalmologist and might need detailed MRI scan of your brain and orbits to rule out a blood vessel abnormality or other condition affecting the nerves to the eye. Find one at www.aao.org and search by specialty.
Avatar f tn My bet is that the CAT scan will be normal. Vertical imbalance without other neurological signs rarely show anything on CAT scan. Your drugs can cause some of your problems by breaking down fusion for a pre-existing phoria. In older patients, a fourth nerve palsy can cause this problem. However, the nerve is very small an a CAT scan will not show a problem. See an strabismus specialist or a neuro-ophthalmologist. Dr. O.
Avatar f tn E and was given an MRI brain scan the next day. The doctor called me a day after the scan and told me they couldn’t explain the reason for these symptoms. Okay sure. However the scan didn’t show abnormalities, and the doctor asked me if I had and issues when I was born. I don’t think I did and my mum said the same. The doctor said it didn’t seem like an imminent risk and something about being benign. The plan is to arrange another MRI for 2 months time and a referral to the optometrist.
Avatar f tn Most tumours in regards to pituitary are non cancerous. An Mri scan is what you need as a Mri scan builds up a detailed picture of areas of brain. But be warned during the scan you will be asked to lie very still on a couch inside a long tube for about 3-4 or 8 minutes depending on how may pictures they need to make. Now its painless but can be uncomfortable, and some people feel a bit claustrophobic during the scan. It is also noisy, but you will be given earplugs or headphones.
Avatar m tn You should always inform the operator of any metal in your body for an MRI scan. These work on a different principle and use very large magnets which can seriously heat up metal in the body, causing tissue damage.
Avatar n tn Hi mom4033 - I just read this strand of comments in re: your daughter's Kindergarten vision test and the subsequent angst it caused you. I would like to strongly urge you to get an MRI done for your daughter. The reason I am 'strongly' urging you to get the MRI done is this; my wife wen to a 'routine' eye exam last year as she felt her vision was a little 'off'. Her Optometrist noticed a build up of fluid behind her eyes, indicative of papilledema.
Avatar n tn Hi I've been having a blue flashing light out of the corner of my eye also. I also had eye pain with it. Eye doc doesn't see anything so he ordered a mri wich showed some spots in my brain but no optic nerve swelling. went to a nuro guy that orderd mri in neck and spin to rule out ms. Now I just got a mra and I'm seeing a retina guy tomorrow morning. Don't know what he's going to find if the other guy didn't see anything.
Avatar m tn I just had an MRI on my eye due to pain.It ended up being a minor sinus issue. There was also mention of an "Artifact" on a single slice of the MRI. They have suggested a full brain scan as a precautionary measure. My Doctor say this is common and there is absolutely nothing wrong with me (no tumour or cancer) and I have no need to worry. Should I be? Could it be a tumor even thought it was only on 1 slice?
Avatar n tn My 7yr old son had an eye test a couple of months ago as he has a "lazy eye" & they checked the backs of the eyes & said the verves in both eyes looked slightly pale & wanted an MRI scan done of the brain & orbits. We took him private as we were sick with worry & thankfully the results come back clear. They have since then checked the pressures in both eyes which again were fine.
3072999 tn?1356414732 So I saw my surgeon last week and he ordered my post-op MRI and because of some issues and pain I am having he ordered an MRA...what exactly is that? He said he wants to make sure I don't have a pinched blood vessel??? Ummmm, that DOESN'T sound good at all! Any thoughts? What exactly is an MRA and I'm assuming a pinched blood vessel isn't good, any one know how NOT good it is? I've got to admit I'm a tad on the nervous side...I go 1/4 @ 10pm for my MRI/MRA...
Avatar m tn I have seen 2 eye doctors and am being sent back for another Mri on my sockets on 12/23
Avatar n tn Well, I saw my doctor today, for some other reasons, and as soon as he saw that my eye was bulging, he seemed unconcerned with anything else I was there for, yet severely concerned with the bulging eye. He ordered a CT scan of the orbitals. Supposed to do the CT scan in the next day or so and come back to see him early next Monday. Should I be worried? I did have an Mri of the brain a few months ago, and that showed nothing. This is scary.
Avatar n tn I would not recommend a CT scan, but instead opt for an MRI. The dye used in a CT scan has more side effects and, of course, an MRI does not require x-ray radiation. We have to differentiate between an eye that doesn't open because of crusting and an eye that has no crusting, but hesitates to open. Eye opening involves the 3rd cranial nerve. Eyeball wandering involves other cranial nerves. You have a combination of problems. I don't think they are very serious.
Avatar n tn Hi Doctor, We did a Brain and Orbit MRI scan and carotid doppler test as suggusted by the doctor. Is ther anyway I can attach the report at this space? Avatar n tn Hi I had sharp pain behind my right eye, and sharp pain in my head. an MRI showed up multiple aneursyms so I would suggest that you follow this up by seeing a neurologist if possible.
Avatar n tn My son had a football head injury 4 weeks ago and within a couple of days his vision in his eye deteriorated. He was referred to our local A&E who sent us to the hospital eye clinic. He had eye scans, field test and other tests and they told us he may have damaged his optic nerve. Doctor said if it is bruised, once that goes his vision should return. I said if it's damaged what's next, glasses?
