Avatar f tn I am now 30 and pregnant, i have not been able to have my scan as the dye they use during it they will not give to pregnant women. I have heard that pregnancy can increase the risk of breast cancer i was wondering if this were true? I have an appointment with my specialist but that is still a couple of months away and I'm a bit nervous...
Avatar n tn They should be able to discuss with the hospital radiologist if necessary. You may need to sign a paper saying you understand the risks of imaging during pregnancy, but mri really is safe.
Avatar f tn While no adverse side effects have been proven from performing MRI during pregnancy, whenever possible the MRI should be postponed until the pregnancy is over. Hopefully this helps.
945369 tn?1320829437 plus, i know a friend who had a history of birth defects for unknown reason, so with her recent pregnancy, she have been having u/s scan and another kind of scan monthly to ensure that everything is progressing normally, and her baby is just fine, the baby is so healthy, he/she is one week more mature. don't overthink everything you here, and always check with your doctor. wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I had an mri scan done two weeks ago although it was for my baby I guess it is still safe :) I am now 27+3
Avatar f tn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_resonance_imaging The above link tells you pretty much everything you didn't want to know about MRIs. I had a brain MRI one time, I had to be sedated because I was afraid of it, they even have a little mirror in there so you can see out of it, sort of claustrophobic in the machine, and they had a microphone and radio in there so I could talk to the techs. When the machine started up, it was VERY loud, surprised me, kind of made a bumping racket.
Avatar f tn as it was just better demonstrated on this scan. After 1 1/2 years I had another follow up MRI. The radiologist noted again a new "lesion" in the frontal lobe". In reality it was probably not new but rather the "venous angioma" noted on an earlier scan. My Neuro wanted another lumber puncture. I was hesitant b/c I had not had any new symptoms and the "lesion" proved not to be new (had a re-read done of all the scans at one time).
Avatar n tn Hi i had an MRI today as i keep feeling really tired and dizzy, this has been going on 4 months. During the MRI a pressure built up inside my head and and eyes it felt like my head was going to explode. I am not a wimp by nature but i had to push the emergency button to stop the scan. This was the last scan and i was only 40 secs away from completion. I looked on search engines and this seems like an unusual MRI experiance can anyone shed light???

Avatar n tn How was the mass found? I was told in general it's safer for a pregnant woman to only use ultrasounds for diagnostics.
1970192 tn?1331382870 i am currently getting clear thick jelly/egg white like cervical mucus and i am just wondering if this is normal during pregnancy? please help me with some answers, i need to put my mind at rest.
Avatar f tn I guess we were posting at the same time because I just saw you last post after I wrote above. To clarify...YES...cysts do usually cause pain! You do want to talk to your doctor about why the pain correlated with your miscarriage. Usually, when cysts occur during pregnancy they don't cause miscarriage. Has your doctor determined your type of cyst? Is it complex (has solid parts)? I really do think you need to have follow-up of your cyst prior to December. Best wishes!
971577 tn?1304711266 After many many blood tests to check HCG levels, 3 internal scans and one abdominal scan we were pleased to discover the pregnancy was progressing as expected and at my 20 week scan we were delighted to discover we are having a healthy litttle boy. However the doctors were unable to tell us why the spotting had occured or where the blood was coming from. The spotting stopped for good at about 9 and half weeks. And it never occured in my two previous pregnancies.
Avatar f tn m currently debating whether or not to get a CT scan of my kidneys (similar risks to MRI)...because they saw several kidney stones on an ultrasound and they want to make sure that none of the stones are big enough to require surgery, but it is of course risky....I've opted not to take the CT scan until/if my pain gets too excruciating. all tests during pregnancy are a matter of weighing risk vs. benefit...
Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar n tn They can however, detect mental illness such as scitzophreneia which i know because i was diagnosed through an MRI. The only mental illness an MRI scan able detect is an actually different brain connections than that of a normal brain. Ive had one done for mental illess! Can you describe some of your symptoms, what you feel and how often yolou feel it? I know your question is based on needing to know where to get a private MRI scan, which i am unsure of!!
Avatar n tn my wife had a mri scan on her neck the result came back as follows mri on the C- spine showd minor degenerative changes with a normal spinal cord there disc lesion at C6/C7 which corrugates the postrior longitudinal ligament by the spinal cord .
Avatar f tn Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
763362 tn?1236624790 I have been referred to Physio and had an initial assesment where the consultant said that it looks like Degenerative Disc Disease, he said the only way to determine this better is by having an MRI scan, on going back to my G.P.
