Avatar f tn hi dojeanne, back pain going to the left leg to the toes signifies a slip disc (IVDP=Inter vertebral disc prolapse). One of the easiest method to detect it's severity is to do a straight leg raising test (SLRT), where , while lying on the back, you lift you affected leg as straight as possible, preferably with other person's help. If you can do it upto 90 degrees, it will mean an insignificant prolapsed disc.
Avatar n tn Hence if the headaches persist for longer, you must investigate for other causes like refractive errors and other eye problems. This should be the first step. A CT scan or MRI of brain should also be done. Third is posture related headaches where a child who has a bad posture or uses computers a lot develops neck strain and subsequent headaches. Consult an eye specialist or a neurologist regarding this. It could be migraine but rule out other causes.
Avatar m tn MRI for lower back pain? Anytime, there are no big different.Good luck!
Avatar n tn Our eight year-old daughter was seen in September by a pediatric endocrinologist due to vaginal bleeding that she had on August. He reran some of the blood work, which he wanted done a couple of weeks later, at the beginning of October, with the following findings: Estradial was 9pg/ml; FSH was 0.79; LH was 0.04. A bone age xray was also done, which came back at about her age (actual reading said four months younger than she actually was).
Avatar f tn I will be getting new splints and have had a Doppler and x-rays but the TMJ dentist wants a TMJ MRI--I've read enough to know it's far from pleasant but can someone give me EXACTLY what will happen. I understand there's a little plastic jack cranking your mouth open (which will set off a serious TMJ issue afterwards, I'm sure) and that they don't want you to swallow but is that for the duration of this 45 minute test or just a part of it?
Avatar n tn If your son does get an MRI, insist on a 3T MRI (not a CAT, and not a 1T scan or a 2T scan), which is far superior in diagnosing epileptic disorders with defineable cellular origins.
Avatar f tn Thank you! Apparently the CAT scan is for the purpose of making sure the placement of the catheter is correct, and will be done BEFORE each rad. treatment. Off to surgery!
11079760 tn?1483386130 In 2008 after the birth of my 2nd child, I developed an overnight 6th nerve palsy/diplopia. Brain MRI came back clear and my symptoms resolved completely in about 3 weeks time. September 2014 was my 2nd episode of 6th nerve palsy - far more severe than the first episode, and the diplopia cleared up in about 4 weeks; however I was left with significant oscilopaia and CSD for about 2 more months (both still show up from time to time).
Avatar f tn A MRI uses only magnetism and no x-rays. It also produces better images than a ct scan. So i would suggest a MRI. The risks associated with a MRI are very small and shouldn't be a cause to worry. I don't want to go against your doc. But since it is such a serious pain and he is so young I would feel more comfortable with a brain mri being done. But maybe your doc is skilled enough to rule out intracranial diseases anyway. Does he get pain when jumping or shaking his head too?
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to our little MS community, It's hard to think you've basically only had one long continual demyelinating event......IF I understand what your saying, you only have 1 or 2 brain lesions of any kind in total, the left optic nerve enhancing lesion (L ON)?
Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar n tn They can however, detect mental illness such as scitzophreneia which i know because i was diagnosed through an MRI. The only mental illness an MRI scan able detect is an actually different brain connections than that of a normal brain. Ive had one done for mental illess! Can you describe some of your symptoms, what you feel and how often yolou feel it? I know your question is based on needing to know where to get a private MRI scan, which i am unsure of!!

Avatar f tn Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
763362 tn?1236624790 I have been referred to Physio and had an initial assesment where the consultant said that it looks like Degenerative Disc Disease, he said the only way to determine this better is by having an MRI scan, on going back to my G.P.

Avatar n tn my doctor said i need an mri scan as a result of suffering with many symptoms for many months- he said i will receive a letter. does this mean he will book it for me or refer me? i live in the uk. anyone know anything about this?
Avatar f tn I have recently had an MRI scan and the report has indicated that I have a L5/S1 circumferential disc bulge whih displaces the exiting L5 nerve roots bilaterally.. On the left this effaces the perineural fate and contacts the L5 nerve root. A neurosurgeon has apparently reviewed my scan and said there is no evidence of this disc bulge without even seeing me and suggested tertherd cord syndrome should be investigated..
