Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan cost with insurance

mri-scan

Avatar n tn An ultrasound and an uptake scan are different tests. :o) Didn't know FNA's were so expensive though...ouch.
Avatar m tn I had an MRI of the brain back in May, to investigate various cognitive / neurological problems I've been experiencing since the start of 2009 (mild confusion, memory problems, muscle twitching, etc). This came back normal (I have neither copies of the scans , nor the radiographers report - just a letter from neurologist saying all findings were normal).
567677 tn?1246767776 Hi Kat, Just wanted to tell you how good it is to hear this news - so many times we want to throw up our hands in surrender and give up; and all it often takes is a phone call and explanation to work things out. One more thought about the cost - did they give you a price for the MRI test? See if you can get that negotiated rate like they do with the big insurance companies. I'm with Anthem and it seems to me they only pay about 20-25% of the rate that is billed for my MRI's.
1218873 tn?1300091216 hi they charged my insurance over $10,000 for the mri I also take lyrica and I have a $ 40 copay for a month supply
Avatar m tn I just had my first abdominal MRI last week. No results back yet. I had just been getting ultrasounds every 6 mon. up until this point. After listening to a talk from the Liver Meeting about alternating with other methods, I suggested it to my doctor. He was fine with it as long as the insurance would cover it.
799360 tn?1239288130 My medical coverage was playing the fight game with the Rx on which one should cover it? So my suggestion is to call your insurance and ask them if they cover it at all? Good luck.
1036535 tn?1278502599 Looking at the EOB from insurance they repeatedly charged me for something that cost $89.72. The only thing I got more several times was Pepsi, and I know an 8 oz. can doesn't cost that much ;) I can't believe the stupid insurance company paid this right away, but haven't paid other, more legitimate things without a fight!
Avatar n tn I had a breast MRI with contrast, and the cost on my insurance statement was something like $3400. Mine was ordered and approved by insurance beforehand however.
Avatar m tn did they order a follow up with an MRI ? this usually gives a better picture on what it is. I can tell you that most lesions on the liver are hemangiomas which are benign and nothing to worry about.
1753162 tn?1317278184 I hate how the insurance companies dictate what the doctor orders. It can and does happen this way and I see it personally not only through testing but getting the medication that works best for my fatigue. I've been on Provigil for three years and has made a huge difference in regards to fatigue. Now, the insurance company decides that they won't cover it. I haven't found anything that works as well as the Provigil.
Avatar m tn At least I think it was helpful ... I had severe neuro symptoms and the SPECT scan showed the dr the extent of brain involvement, though I do not know how that guided the dr's treatment decisions, since I was relatively positive on the blood tests. It's a fair question to ask the dr -- 'Why is this helpful to you?' I had great insurance at the time, so cost wasn't a problem, but I recall it was pretty expensive.
Avatar n tn Should I have an MRI scan it will set me back a lot of money..... Could something really be wrong> I do not know wat was in my E even if it gave me an MDMA feeling. This is a never ending comedown. THROBBING in my head wont stop... I feel different... not the same. I'm sweating lots and not sure if that the heat or me.... help me someone.... how can I get better? Do I need amino acids or sumthin???
1831849 tn?1383228392 So very true! My first round of IV steroids will likely be my last. I was told by both the pharmacy and the in-home nursing company that all was 'covered by my insurance' with the exception of about $200 that would be mine to cover. Afterward I received bills that totalled over $600. Neither company could explain how that happened. Had I known then what I know now I would have contacted my insurance company myself to verfiy what I'd been told by the providers.
564735 tn?1263943526 Thanks for the advice...I will speak with my doctor tomorrow and see what she says.
Avatar f tn Beyond annoyed. With my first pregnancy I had blue cross and it only cost $200 a month for my husband and I. And it was absolutely amazing. Now with this one we have aetna and since all the crazy healthcare act junk it cost us over $500 a month. And they don't even cover my 20 week anatomy scan. It goes towards my deductible which is extremely frustrating. Pretty angry I pay so much every month to make other people's lives easier essentially only to haveto stress about money myself.
Avatar f tn is an MRI or an ultrasound as accurate as a CT scan in determining if the spot on my liver is a hemangioma and not cancerous? Other than cost, is there a reason I should have a CT scan instead of an MRI? I would rather not have the radiation exposure of a CT scan if an MRI will produce adequate data. Furthermore, should I see a specialist instead of my PCP about this? Thank you!
4097344 tn?1349754756 all blood test came back good. i got a ct scan with contrast for my head last week but i havent heard back from them with the results so im guessing they didnt find anything. i went to the hospital for double vision and pain in my neck and the doctor said, 'this isnt an emergency im going to discharge you" just turned me away. i feel so powerless to do anything. no money. no job. i just feel stupid right now. cant even go to sleep thinking about if im going to just drop dead.
649926 tn?1297657780 Hi Erin, I don't believe that there is anything that you could gain by being imaged with a 3T mri - you already have your diagnosis and should be on a DMD. The MRI doesn't even track the progression of your disease even though it shows the lesions - that is more the work fo the symptoms. that said, I think it is reassuring to a patient, me included, to see the recent MRI and get a look at what is happening in our brains.
148987 tn?1287805926 I just had a cat scan on my heart...no insurance..as I did not have during my HCV treatment.... for $75 What's the problem ?
Avatar f tn Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
Avatar f tn Throughout the year, I've had pretty frequent headaches that just became my norm, since they weren't so severe that I couldn't function. They would come and go throughout the day, never getting very bad. However, for the last month or two, I've had basically had one constant headache. The severity fluctuates, but it's pretty much always there. The pain is always either felt in the whole head, or strictly the left side.
