mri-scan

Avatar m tn I had an MRI of the brain back in May, to investigate various cognitive / neurological problems I've been experiencing since the start of 2009 (mild confusion, memory problems, muscle twitching, etc). This came back normal (I have neither copies of the scans , nor the radiographers report - just a letter from neurologist saying all findings were normal).
Avatar f tn Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
Avatar f tn Here in America the tax payers pay for people who can not afford insurAnce or out of pocket cost to get free or low cost medical care. My husband and I run a home daycare and my children and I all get government insurance. Being self employees and running a small business we have to pay taxes and trust me we paid less and made more when my husband worked a regular job. The way I see it we pay for our own insurance. Here the laws are studied it should be free to give birth and to die..
5084534 tn?1363363057 After 1,045 SING$ test and scan, they give my father PDT Laser (5th Feb 2013), which the drug alone cost 2,700$, and the PDT laser operation + the surgeon was ard 1,700$. Okay, no problem as long as my father's eye can be helped.
Avatar m tn My question is, is it wise to bring such a patient to USA considering high medical costs here. I live in USA and make around $40k per year. I cannot afford nursing home and it is almost impossible to work and take care of him at the same time. Back in his native country, we can hire nursing help at affordable rate. This is not possible here in USA. I dont know how much insurance will cover his costs.
Avatar n tn umm in the usa without insurance, n im chronic.
Avatar f tn But, just after 4 months the followup scan shows the endo is back in both ovaries and almost half the size before surgery. I am really disappointed with the result and suspect that my OBGYN was not skilled at all for this type of surgery. I feel devastated as I am only 26 and TTC for sometime without any success. After doing some research on the internet, I am thinking of going to Center for Endometriosis Care (CEC) in Atlanta.
Avatar n tn An ultrasound and an uptake scan are different tests. :o) Didn't know FNA's were so expensive though...ouch.
Avatar m tn i need a st scan here in USA but cannot get it because wife not working and cannot offord it at the moment in UK i be able to get that free OK you might have to wait 1-2 months if not emergency but you do get it done i am lost now i dont know what to do and hope its not too serious or i in deep trouble
Avatar m tn I don't know for sure but it is said that UCSD in San Diego, CA, has an MRE machines which is like similar to fibroscan but MRI based. Maybe Djxpress can tell us more about it.. I think maybe it is better to contact the manufacturer directly and ask him for a list of clinics that may have it...
Avatar m tn did they order a follow up with an MRI ? this usually gives a better picture on what it is. I can tell you that most lesions on the liver are hemangiomas which are benign and nothing to worry about.
Avatar f tn Other than cost, is there a reason I should have a CT scan instead of an MRI? I would rather not have the radiation exposure of a CT scan if an MRI will produce adequate data. Thank you!
987762 tn?1671273328 The MRI The purpose of a MRI or magnetic resonance imaging machine, is to harmlessly work out what internally is physically wrong with you, without involving exploratory surgery. MRIs have 3 types: conventional, open bore and fully open. In an conventional MRI, a long toroidal (Doughnut-shaped) electromagnet supplies the electromagnetic force, and the subject is put through a long 'tunnel', where a full-body scan is supplied.
Avatar m tn I buy T-***** for my company and I buy only made in USA. I also put "MADE IN THE USA" on the front of the shirt below the company logo. I give them away and I sell them cheap - $7.50 for a 100% cotton short sleeve USA shirt and $10 for a long sleeve T-shirt and people love them. I have had people call me to ask where I got them because they want to buy American made for their businesses.
Avatar m tn Tinnitus, visual disturbances, ghosted vison, fatigue, twitching muscles, after images, soar neck, migraines, lethargy, congestion when laying down. C.t scan normal. Eyes fine. What the hell is it? Been told I need to wait a further 8 weeks on a neurologist and I've waited 9 weeks so far. Symptoms getting worse every day. With no hope of relief. I'm on whits end with this and I can't keep going on. Nothing can be done till I see neurologist.
Avatar m tn It's not a cost issue. My doctor doesn't want to send me to MRI nor CT scan. She says that i don't need to do MRI, because CT didn't showed anyting abnormal, and that i am too young for serious disorders. I find this strange, because it was 8 years ago, and i assume that something could changed. Or maybe i'm wrong?
Avatar f tn is an MRI or an ultrasound as accurate as a CT scan in determining if the spot on my liver is a hemangioma and not cancerous? Other than cost, is there a reason I should have a CT scan instead of an MRI? I would rather not have the radiation exposure of a CT scan if an MRI will produce adequate data. Furthermore, should I see a specialist instead of my PCP about this? Thank you!
567677 tn?1246767776 One more thought about the cost - did they give you a price for the MRI test? See if you can get that negotiated rate like they do with the big insurance companies. I'm with Anthem and it seems to me they only pay about 20-25% of the rate that is billed for my MRI's. It would be great if you could get this worked out too.
765439 tn?1292960414 Nevertheless, if you feel strongly about not having a CT scan, you can call your doctor and tell him or her that you want an MRI instead of a CT scan. But be aware that your insurance may decline to cover the cost of the MRI since CTs are the standard for a 21 y/o male patient.
Avatar n tn As the CT scan report was normal and since there was no MRI scan facility in the hospital the patient was not shifted immediately to another one. The doctor of the hospital to which he was later admitted mentioned about the delay. that is why i felt so. Do you think that the CT scan report which mentioned "brain-stem normal" was correct?
Avatar n tn Wow...what a story!! I can imagine the frustration you are going through with this. All the symptoms you describe match Chiari to a "T" these are symptoms that I have had and have heard described from many others. I had tonsillar descent but it was the area of my cerebellum that was squished against my skull (right before the foramen magnum) that my NS pointed out was the big problem.
Avatar m tn I just had my first abdominal MRI last week. No results back yet. I had just been getting ultrasounds every 6 mon. up until this point. After listening to a talk from the Liver Meeting about alternating with other methods, I suggested it to my doctor. He was fine with it as long as the insurance would cover it.
