Avatar f tn Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
Avatar m tn I had an MRI of the brain back in May, to investigate various cognitive / neurological problems I've been experiencing since the start of 2009 (mild confusion, memory problems, muscle twitching, etc). This came back normal (I have neither copies of the scans , nor the radiographers report - just a letter from neurologist saying all findings were normal).
Avatar f tn I just found out I have Chiari Type 1 Malformation. I recently had an MRI to look at my hip and when I was gathering my old MRI, I've had to car accident where I was rear ended, I noticed back in 2006 on my cervical spine MRI it said, "there is abnormal descent of the cerebellar tonsils to 1.2 centimeters below level of the foramen magnum. Then in the impression it states, abnormal descent of the cerebellar tonsils suggesting Chiari Type 1 Malformation.
Avatar n tn An ultrasound and an uptake scan are different tests. :o) Didn't know FNA's were so expensive though...ouch.
Avatar m tn did they order a follow up with an MRI ? this usually gives a better picture on what it is. I can tell you that most lesions on the liver are hemangiomas which are benign and nothing to worry about.
1036535 tn?1278502599 I was in Emergency and had an MRI and CT scan that day. Recently I had an MRI ordered from an internists office and he wrote on the request that it was not urgent. I ended up paying for it privately, because the wait was going to be months. When I did go privately, however, it was only $800 My fatherinlaw just spent a month in hospital, a lot of it in intensive care. He had wonderful care at no cost to him at all. Our system is far from perfect, but it's there for everyone.
Avatar f tn 50 am Internal email messages uncovered by Health News Florida reveal that Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL) is knowingly citing inaccurate cost estimates to justify his refusal to expand Florida’s Medicaid program. Though the governor’s office is fully aware that the numbers are wrong, Scott continues to use them anyway, the documents show.
Avatar f tn m assuming they used metal surtures/staples during removal. Two years ago, I had a MRI scan for pain in my knees. Since then I had pain in my right side just below my rib cage. It was an acute pain immediately after the MRI scan. There is still residual pain to this day. Is it possible that something tore open? If so, can this be the cause of sharp pains in my mid back that the doctors have not been able to pinpoint after X-rays?
Avatar f tn Other than cost, is there a reason I should have a CT scan instead of an MRI? I would rather not have the radiation exposure of a CT scan if an MRI will produce adequate data. Thank you!
987762 tn?1671273328 The MRI The purpose of a MRI or magnetic resonance imaging machine, is to harmlessly work out what internally is physically wrong with you, without involving exploratory surgery. MRIs have 3 types: conventional, open bore and fully open. In an conventional MRI, a long toroidal (Doughnut-shaped) electromagnet supplies the electromagnetic force, and the subject is put through a long 'tunnel', where a full-body scan is supplied.
Avatar f tn Did one at 15 weeks and it only cost me 58 for the scan and I paid for a teddy bear
Avatar m tn It's not a cost issue. My doctor doesn't want to send me to MRI nor CT scan. She says that i don't need to do MRI, because CT didn't showed anyting abnormal, and that i am too young for serious disorders. I find this strange, because it was 8 years ago, and i assume that something could changed. Or maybe i'm wrong?
Avatar n tn how much is the cost of epidural steriod shots for low back pain in florida.
Avatar f tn is an MRI or an ultrasound as accurate as a CT scan in determining if the spot on my liver is a hemangioma and not cancerous? Other than cost, is there a reason I should have a CT scan instead of an MRI? I would rather not have the radiation exposure of a CT scan if an MRI will produce adequate data. Furthermore, should I see a specialist instead of my PCP about this? Thank you!
567677 tn?1246767776 One more thought about the cost - did they give you a price for the MRI test? See if you can get that negotiated rate like they do with the big insurance companies. I'm with Anthem and it seems to me they only pay about 20-25% of the rate that is billed for my MRI's. It would be great if you could get this worked out too.
Avatar f tn The basic plan would cost an average of $1200 a year and still cost $800 out-of-pocket for one appt monthly and the catastrophic would be $3600 in premiums yearly and still cost $750 out-of-pocket for a monthly doctor's visit at $100 a visit. So the thing is, you're paying about $4400 a year for the United catastrophic insurance for just doctor's visits. If you were to pay out of pocket it would be $1200 a year. Same $100 doctor's visit.

765439 tn?1292960414 Nevertheless, if you feel strongly about not having a CT scan, you can call your doctor and tell him or her that you want an MRI instead of a CT scan. But be aware that your insurance may decline to cover the cost of the MRI since CTs are the standard for a 21 y/o male patient.
Avatar n tn s Orthopedic Surgeon might accept Medicaid Share of Cost. Basically if you have met your share of cost for the month, and you probably have with x-rays and such) then you have full Medicaid for the following three months and the doctor need not know that it is share of cost. His name is Dr. Kerina, his office is called Tri-County Orthopedics. He is in Lake county which is not too far from Flagler County. He and his fellow surgeons are top-notch.
Avatar n tn As the CT scan report was normal and since there was no MRI scan facility in the hospital the patient was not shifted immediately to another one. The doctor of the hospital to which he was later admitted mentioned about the delay. that is why i felt so. Do you think that the CT scan report which mentioned "brain-stem normal" was correct?
Avatar n tn No it varies. An average would be an extra $1500/eye.
