Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan brain trauma

mri-scan

Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar f tn Hi, When I was in middle school approximately four years ago, I fell from a chair and hit my head really hard on the edge of a desk. I had a lump the size of a golf ball. I had no symptoms of Brain Trauma and I didn't get it checked out. But recently I heard that, if not found soon, the damage could come back and effect me later in life. Is this True? If it is what should I do? Also what is this situation called, so I could do some research? Thank You Very Much.
Avatar f tn I went and saw my family doctor about my migraines and he decided to refer me to a neurologist and asked that I get a CT scan. While waiting for the neurologist to get to me, now the nurse calls me and say that I need a MRI before going to see the neurologist. There was no mention of the MRI prior to this phone call and I wanted to make sure that this is necessary. I don't have money to waste! ;) Doesn't a MRI and CT scan basically do the same thing?
1495080 tn?1290177561 The various tests carried out to detect the cause of loss of smell are CT scan of nasal sinuses, MRI of brain, allergy testing, and blood glucose levels. This is followed by quantitative smell test which helps identifies the degree of loss. I am sorry but you will to consult a neurologist to find the cause and possibility of a solution. Take care!

3582164 tn?1347638279 I have been to several neurologists but gotten no answers. 18 months ago my symptoms began and have gotten progressively worse. I am experiencing cognitive difficulties, coordination/balance issues, dizziness, numbness and tingling in extremities, and my hands and feet suddenly just not working right. I have a history of physical trauma including head trauma and experience absence seizures. I have had a clear brain and cervical spine MRI and a normal EMG.
1746254 tn?1314433986 Just realized you said CT scan. Did your doctor order an MRI? Should provide more information. There's other tests, but a brain MRI is usually the first thing on the list.
Avatar f tn Can you please explain my MRI of the brain done with and without contrast please: On T2 weighted and FLAIR sequences, there are multiple subcentimeter round ovoid foci of high signal in the right frontal lobe periventricular white matter, in addition to several subcentimeter lesions in the periventricular and subcortical white matter in the left frontal lobe and the subcortical white matter in the posterior right frontal lobe.
Avatar f tn Hey Doc, This year I experienced a tremor in my left hand, cognitive problems including; feeling foggy, short term memory problems, a general sense of malaise and uneasiness and balance difficulties. I had an MRI which stated "Multiple T2 hyperintense lesions are identified within both cerebral hemispheres, the largest in the periventricular white matter of the right temporal lobe. No definite diffusion abnormality or abnormal contrast enhancement to suggest active lesions.
Avatar n tn CT scan at time showed trauma to brain but no cyst. Then I started to have horrible memory problems, sudden loss of vision and hearing, weakness in legs and arms, severe headaches and worst of all extreme pressure in my brain! I could not walk, swim, or do exercise because u felt like my brain was going to explode. I was referred for another MRI almost one year later and they found a pineal gland cyst.
Avatar n tn One of the doctors wrote me and he said that it sound s like she has some brain injury but he couldn't tell how severe without seeing the mri. I'm still waiting for her to get into the neurologist. It's crazy.
Avatar m tn Would a brain scan be of any benefit in this situation such as an MRI or CATSCAN? I am not sure if it is a brain injury that has been aggravated by the cigarette poisons or not. I am not sure if it is a tumor. Would a brain scan determine any diagnosis? Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn s been done is tests and then discharged from every hospital and doctors. May 13, 2010 right up to now no medical help if I give some test results from MRI CT and EEG maybe someone could shed some light on why I am a vegtable or no short term memory, I fall alot and always walk from side to side. MRI - Small T2 hyperintense areas are noted in the frontal lobe white matter measuring up to 5mm a year ago I am sure its double by now. microvascular ischemic insult?
Avatar n tn 2) I hit my head hard recently and I did a CAT scan to my skull and brain to rule out any trauma/concussion from the blow. Would MS show up any white matter lesions on this CAT scan which wasn't done specifically to look for the disease? Thanks a lot for your help.
Avatar m tn To rule out brain cancer, imaging studies such as MRI or CT scan is usually indicated. The common symptoms for brain cancer include : headache, weakness, clumsiness, difficulty walking and even seizures. If there is no history of trauma in the past, the headache could also be due to primary headaches such as migraine, tension or cluster headaches. It is best that you discuss this with your doctor or be referred to a neurologist for proper evaluation.
Avatar n tn I received a letter from my doctor that states that I have white lesions on the left side of my brain. I suffered severe head trauma a few years back in a bad car accident. What do white lesions on the left side or anyside of the brain mean? Are they serious? Is there a way to get rid of them? Should I be worried? Please if you could please give me some answers I would greatly appreciate your help.
Avatar f tn Feb 2010 I slipped on wet floor & bumped onto the wall making my wrist & ankle painful. My eye muscle got stress like pulling to nose & felt very painful which I had not experienced before.Found seriously diplopia less than 24 hours & my right eyeball went inside to the nose side & couldn't turn out.
Avatar f tn Headaches after a brain injury can also be due to concussion, and normally CT and MRI are normal. However, yes, MRI should be done to rule out brain injury as the cause. Stress due to concussion and brain injury can also be the cause. Also get your blood pressure checked. Take care!
Avatar m tn i lost consciousness. my brain mri was done a year later and suspected dilation of the internal carotid artery. CT angiogram was done and reported no aneurysm. I had a second opinion report that asked to exclude lacunar stroke and suggested MRA scan and MRI scans with contrast. I saw a neurosurgeon who identified the mrs finding as a porencephalic cyst probably due to trauma. i then received a report from a neurologist who said it was a virchow robin space. the size of the lesion is 1.2 x 1.
