Avatar n tn I am sorry to hear that you have been going through so much in life! As the differential diagnosis suggests the MRI findings indicate changes in brain that could be due to Lyme’s disease (because of Tick bite you had) or could be due to inflammation of brain blood vessels (vasculitis), degeneration or destruction of myelin sheath of nerves (seen in MS and autoimmune disorders) or due to narrowing of blood vessels causing poor blood supply and poor oxygen supply to parts of brain.
Avatar m tn Although it is not usually a cause for worry, it is however, recommended that those who have mild atrophy should discuss these findings to their doctors, especially in cases where they also experience weakness and memory lapses. Some doctors may advise another MRI scan of the brain after several months to compare the results and evaluate if there is progression of brain atrophy.
Avatar f tn My stroke doctor has told me that my basal ganglia has been affected by multiple strokes. I have had 12 CT brain scans and one MRI brain scan. Now he says I am no to have any more and for him to be notified whenever I am taken to hospital. I read that basal ganglia problems can be caused by radiation, so I am thinking that this is the reason for my problems-which affect my brain activity and walking.
Avatar f tn Did a cardio cath and found nothing. Primary sent me to a Neurology Dr who read CT scan wanted to do a MRI. MRI showed 1 cm meningioma in the left frontal lobe without significant mass effect or associated edema. Ventricular size remains normal linits. Also scattered T2 hyperintensities within the periventricular deep white matter of both hemispheres. this is a nonspecific finding, can be seen as sequelea of chronic miscrovascular insult, hypertension, diabetes.
Avatar m tn See needs an MRI of the brain asap if they have not done that and a referral to a Neurologist. ASAP, ASAP, ASAP! Secondly, any family history of stroke?
Avatar m tn About 5 years back i had an mir scan and it showed a left paracentral arachnoid cyst of CSF intensity on all sequences measuring 22.4 x 26.3 x 34.9 mm located posterior to the cerebellum with a small left lateral extention over the left cerebellar convexity. Axial and sagittal sections through the vertex level likewise reeveal a small 19.1 x 17.9 x 14.6 extra axial fluid lesion over the left superior fronto parietral parasagittal convexity region with subsequent depression of underlying cortex.
Avatar n tn They grow out of the menenges(the brain lining cells), but they still push in on your brain! Depending on what part of your brain or other systems that are near to it i.e. eye chasm, ear structures, ventricles, etc. it could cause a whole host of issues. I'm speaking from a bit of experience here-Dad had a large calcified meningioma gamma knifed ...
Avatar f tn Did they do a CT scan or MRI to see if you had a skull fracture when you went to the clinic? Gio77Italy, it's possible to have a skull fracture without having a hole in your head. An old girlfriend had her head slammed into a wall, cleaned herself up, and later found out she had a fracture, that's why I mentioned it because it happened to a friend of mine many years ago. The doc said she was leaking CSF, that's why she continued to have headaches.
327385 tn?1378360731 Hi, CT scan without contrast is sufficient as an initial investigation to detect brain pathology. If this scan picks up some abnormality in the brain then CT scan with contrast is ordered for better visualization of the lesion. Since your initial scan was unremarkable the chances of brain pathology are less though cannot be ruled out completely. Try doing some breathing exercises and see if they help with your symptoms. Take care and good luck.

Avatar m tn 2) Is there anything else I can do that will improve my brain function? 3) What type of brain scan will show the damage I may have caused and how much does that cost? One more thing to add- I was on an antidepressant from 23YO-28YO. I also had severe sleep apnea that was successfully treated with surgery. I am currently overweight 5'6" 202lbs (weight gained from Antidepressant use). 50lbs gained within 1.5 years of starting treatment.
Avatar f tn Can you please explain my MRI of the brain done with and without contrast please: On T2 weighted and FLAIR sequences, there are multiple subcentimeter round ovoid foci of high signal in the right frontal lobe periventricular white matter, in addition to several subcentimeter lesions in the periventricular and subcortical white matter in the left frontal lobe and the subcortical white matter in the posterior right frontal lobe.

Avatar n tn I am also experiencing fatigue, nausea, memory loss, loss of balance, stiff neck, stiff joints in the right hand, dizziness, dilated pupils and a constant faint-feeling. I had an MRI scan a few weeks ago, which showed up normal. However, I did not have any contrast injections or anything. I've had a blood test since then which has also shown up normal. I am starting to get impatient - I'm not sure whether I can deal with any more waiting around and false hope!

Avatar n tn If there was a shadow on CT scan and you have tingling in toes and you have memory loss, then the CT of the brain should be followed up with MRI. Please discuss this with a neurologist. There could have been a minor bleed too. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Headaches after a brain injury can also be due to concussion, and normally CT and MRI are normal. However, yes, MRI should be done to rule out brain injury as the cause. Stress due to concussion and brain injury can also be the cause. Also get your blood pressure checked. Take care!
