Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan brain head

mri-scan

Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar f tn A CT scan and MRI are pretty much the tests that will find a tumor- if you've had 3 scans that have been normal I would think everything is okay.
Avatar n tn They did a cat scan and they said it was normal. The first time she hit her head they did a mri and they said that was normal. We are at a lost and not sure what to do.

Avatar n tn Hi guys I wanted to know if anyone knows where to get a private head MRI scan done in the Birmingham region. I've been suffering from this head related illness for almost 2 years and the doctor thinks it's depression which I disagree because the only thing that gets me depressed is the problem itself I'm suffering from.
Avatar m tn Your daughter needs to be in the ER right now and based on the CT-SCAN/MRI doctors will take immediate action if it is subdural hematoma, epidural hematoma, intracerebral hematoma or something else. I don't think anyone here will be able to predict the consequences at this point. DO NOT DELAY in getting treatment because the initial hours are crucial for full recovery. I am not sure where you are located but in U.
Avatar f tn Can you please explain my MRI of the brain done with and without contrast please: On T2 weighted and FLAIR sequences, there are multiple subcentimeter round ovoid foci of high signal in the right frontal lobe periventricular white matter, in addition to several subcentimeter lesions in the periventricular and subcortical white matter in the left frontal lobe and the subcortical white matter in the posterior right frontal lobe.
Avatar n tn Your husband had a concusssion and possibly a bleed inside his brain. I am stunned that an MRI was not performed within an hour after his hospital admission. There may be a missing piece here. Perhaps he was given a CT scan and doesn't remember. Often the MRI machines are nbot available 24/7. All of this being said, very little can be done to improve outcomes after missing a treatment opportunity. Some people recover one hundred percent and others do not.
20895504 tn?1585108829 Is it possible that I have a brain tumor? On the side of my head by my. Right side and my ear I have 2 big lumps that are bulging out of the top of my head and they are very painful.
Avatar f tn I went for an MRI of brain it showed a posible kink in blood vessel then they had me come back and did a coranary artery brain scan of neck and head. It showed nothing wrong no kinks no nothing. Are MRi's acurate? I have had this weird sensation on left side of head for 2.5 months. it's so annoying. iT's like a pressure feeling. Seems like it stemming from base of skull on left side. My jaws are tight too plus I get a twinge of pain in left side of tempe mostly when bending down.
Avatar f tn A CT Scan usually is best if a suspicion for a stroke or a bleed within the brain is being considered. If there was a previous head injury, then a cranial CT scan may be the scan of choice. MRI is superior than CT scan in evaluating soft tissue changes within the brain and nearby structures. It may note inflammation or swelling which may suggest further evaluation. What was the indication for your scan? What symptoms do you have? Was there any prior trauma or injury to head or neck?
Avatar n tn My doctor ordered a head scan with contrast. When I went, they did a scan without contrast then told me they were not going to do the one with contrast. Is that because everything looked normal or because they could already see an abnormality so didn't need to use the contrast?
17490356 tn?1457283801 Now i know that nothing happens in my head or my brain. I had my ct scan because i accidentally bumped my head into the floor last 3 months. Thanks again.
Avatar m tn Yes, please go to the ER or neurologist and get a CT scan or MRI as the neurologist advises. There is a chance it is either concussion or a bleed in the brain. It can also be a subdural hematoma. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Back right side of head. I took him in for a CT scan which was negative and then an MRI/MRA and I received a phone call saying that white spots showed up on scans. But that they did not look like MS and that MS spots are normally deeper within the brain matter and that my sons spots where not as deep. He did say that this does happen and that we shouldnt worry, just have annual MRI/MRA's to observe. Is this a normal thing?
Avatar f tn Headaches after a brain injury can also be due to concussion, and normally CT and MRI are normal. However, yes, MRI should be done to rule out brain injury as the cause. Stress due to concussion and brain injury can also be the cause. Also get your blood pressure checked. Take care!
495035 tn?1221753092 Have had two MRI brain scan done in two days and cervical. Demylination is what the neuro wrote and primary T ?whatever primary T? is any ideas anyone? I haven't got the results yet will take a few days.Still have the headache worse in the mornings and earache in both ears, last couple of days have had 'buzzing forehead inside' when i move my head i really dont know what that is ,does anyone else get it? it only lasts for few seconds at a time.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Most likely possibility is Cervical spondylosis or pinched nerve in cervical spine in which pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head, shoulders, arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness).
Avatar f tn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_resonance_imaging The above link tells you pretty much everything you didn't want to know about MRIs. I had a brain MRI one time, I had to be sedated because I was afraid of it, they even have a little mirror in there so you can see out of it, sort of claustrophobic in the machine, and they had a microphone and radio in there so I could talk to the techs. When the machine started up, it was VERY loud, surprised me, kind of made a bumping racket.
Avatar m tn I also wanted to add that I am dizzy, my head feels heavy, and I have some stifness in the neck. More importantly, I had an MRI and CT scan like 2-3 weeks ago and they showed nothing---therefore it's probably just a migraine right? Is there some way for me tell without having to take another MRI/CT scan?
Avatar m tn It would be more beneficial to take a second opinion with your father’s CT scan report and it may benefit to get a MRI done. You can also discuss the treatment modalities with the present doctor. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn I had a cat scan of the brain in 99. I was experiencing head aches, uneasiness in my legs, unsteady balance, arms and legs would go to sleep often. The symptoms would come and go. The scan did show a slight calcification in the region of the right foramen of monro. Would that indicate something to a doctor? Follow up with a neuroligist? Should I have had an MRI instead of a cat scan? I was diagnosed in September with MS after demanding an MRI. Can a neuroligist spec.
Avatar m tn I have a son that is 15 they said they was doing testing to see if the doctor needed to send him to be tested for a brain tumor by doing a mri or a brain scan to see it then a couple of days ago they call me from where he is and tell me they felt it by rubbing his head so of I cant see it without a brain scan orvmri how can u feel it by rubbing someones head
Avatar f tn Hi, last year I had an MRI scan. I was having it as the Dr was looking to see if I had an AVM on the brain, I get a lot of headaches and have an AVM on my right forearm. When I went to see the Dr he told me my results, he said there is a malformation there but it isnt an AVM. He then pointed to the temporal lobes and said they are low. I should of asked him what that meant, but I never ask questions when Im there, I just say to myself I should of asked this and I should of asked that.
