Mri scan brain dementia

Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan brain dementia

mri-scan

Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar m tn I reacently went for an MRI on my brain because of constant forgetfulness, repeating conversations I had only hours ago. Dementia runs hard in my family, mother has it now and grandmother and great grandmother both had it.My Dr called the next day to inform me that they had found something called White Brain Mass Disease. I have looked it uup on the internet and it states that it is the leading cause of MS. wE HAVE SET UP AN APPT WITH A NUROLOGIST BUT CAN YOU GIVE ME AN IDEA OF WHAT WBMD is.
Avatar n tn I've had a recent history (child history of trauma, injury and other issues) of seizures. After CT's, MRI's and several VEEG's I have been diagnosed with PNES or non-epileptic seizures. I believe that this diagnosis is right since I've previously been diagnosed by a therapist with PTSD, dissociative amnesia and conversion disorder (they referred me to the neurologists for further evaluation of the seizures).
783212 tn?1295028006 I was discussing the results of my brain MRI with a friend who became very distraught because there were lesions found in the frontal lobe white matter and also within the cerebral peduncle ( which I don't know what that is). She says that it could be signs of future dementia? When I began to research it just confused me more. There are a million things that brain lesions could be from. Also, the doctor wrote small vessel damage from ischemic injury.
Avatar n tn There could be many reasons for her symptoms. Has she had a CAT scan or MRI?
Avatar n tn t change his brain scan findings, but may contribute to his sense of well-being.
Avatar f tn Hello I have just received my MRI results and I am very distressed because I have googled them and I am concerned that I may have early onset dementia. This is the first comment on my MRI scan - 'Bilateral frontal lobe subcortical white matter T2 hyperintensity thought more consistent with small vessel ischaemic change than primary demyelination'. Could anyone shed some light on this comment? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hi, Forgetfulness and dementia after radiotherapy for tongue cancer is not common. However radiotherapy for brain tumors is known to cause dementia and memory lapses. I would suggest you to schedule an appointment with a physician and undergo complete clinical evaluation.
Avatar f tn He is having another brain CR scan and echocardiogramv later this month. I ask the specialist if he is developing a dementia but he wouldn't commit to a disgnosis. What should I do? He could be on medications to slow this process and its very upsetting watching my husband deteriorate . Any suggestions would be appreciated .
Avatar f tn Can you please explain my MRI of the brain done with and without contrast please: On T2 weighted and FLAIR sequences, there are multiple subcentimeter round ovoid foci of high signal in the right frontal lobe periventricular white matter, in addition to several subcentimeter lesions in the periventricular and subcortical white matter in the left frontal lobe and the subcortical white matter in the posterior right frontal lobe.
Avatar n tn I am 25 yrs old and for the past 2 years have been in pain all over my body, my brain MRI reveals deep white matter hypersentitivites and few prominent virchow-robin spaces. My past medical history includes pain all over by body for 2 years. I am seeing a rehumatologist for pain and she is the one recommended the MRI of brain.
Avatar f tn They have just had another appointment with a neurologist who has said they now need to do an MRI. All doctors have said they think it is a form of dementia or alzheimers but still no solid diognosis! Is this a normal amount of time for it to take someone to be diagnosed?
Avatar n tn What have they done for your brother? CAT Scan, MRI anything? What do they mean by his brain is shrinking? Literally shrinking is size or hypothetically as in his brain cells are dying or is it literally shrinking in size?
Avatar f tn Headaches after a brain injury can also be due to concussion, and normally CT and MRI are normal. However, yes, MRI should be done to rule out brain injury as the cause. Stress due to concussion and brain injury can also be the cause. Also get your blood pressure checked. Take care!
Avatar m tn Do you have Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol/high fat diet, history of dementia (in family) or are you a smoker? Who ordered the MRI your PCP? Probably should get a referral to a neurologist if you don't have one already! Nothing going on is acute, more long term issue instead.
Avatar f tn Hi, last year I had an MRI scan. I was having it as the Dr was looking to see if I had an AVM on the brain, I get a lot of headaches and have an AVM on my right forearm. When I went to see the Dr he told me my results, he said there is a malformation there but it isnt an AVM. He then pointed to the temporal lobes and said they are low. I should of asked him what that meant, but I never ask questions when Im there, I just say to myself I should of asked this and I should of asked that.
Avatar f tn Technique: Axial T2, axial FLAIR, sagittal T1, DWI, SWI, coronal T2 through orbits and T2 CISS 3D imaging was obtained through brain without contrast. Findings: A focal T2 and FLAIR hyperintense signal is seen in the white matter of the left frontal lobe. This does not demonstrate diffusion restriction. No other white matter abnormality. A few prominent VR spaces seen in the basal ganglia, bilaterally. Normal grey and white has a normal interface.
Avatar f tn I had a cat scan and blood test that showed a lesion on my brain. My doctor the had me get an MRI brain scan which his nurse said came back normal. Then why do I still feel like my brain has been scrambled ,and I just don't feel good overall?
