Avatar n tn I had a brain mri scan for recurrent 'auras' thought to be due to migraine. The result of the scan came back normal except for a few spots of plaques. I am 50, is this normal? I am concerned that it is indicative of early degeneration associated with dementia.
Avatar m tn thanks for the reply. she has been seen by a neurologist over a week ago now and had an mri scan but as yet we have had no results. after the procedure she was paralysed for 15 hours. she was aware what was going on around her but was unable to open her eyes or move or speak.. she overheard two doctors talking and one of them said she had been overdosed. she was also seeing and talking to her dead brother for a few days after this happened.
Avatar f tn My stroke doctor has told me that my basal ganglia has been affected by multiple strokes. I have had 12 CT brain scans and one MRI brain scan. Now he says I am no to have any more and for him to be notified whenever I am taken to hospital. I read that basal ganglia problems can be caused by radiation, so I am thinking that this is the reason for my problems-which affect my brain activity and walking.
Avatar m tn Hi I had a MR scan of my brain a couple of weeks ago as I had vertigo’s episodes some times . According to my doctor the MR results shows some unspecified gliosis. He said this is not a major problem, as it can be associated to some sleeping disorders and nothing with the vertigo. Do you agree with this opinion or I should check with a neurologist?

Avatar m tn Ok the docs said that i have damage to parts of my brain but it didnt show on scans. They found it from an evaluation where they put me through some memory, dexderity, and speed tests. Is this right? Can they say that i have this damage without it showing on the eeg, mri with/without contrast, cat scan, and think there was some other test they did but not sure. Can someone have brain damage and it just not show up?

Avatar f tn There's a condition called frontal lobe syndrome, where one shows a progressive deterioration in proper social skills and a lack of empathy. They seems to be void of all emotions and they can't understand others emotions. Although, I'm pretty sure this condition is consistent with organic brain damage, seen as lesions on a MRI or CTScan. So, I wouldn't doubt that the manifesting symptoms are extremely noticeable and completely inconsistent with social norms.
Avatar n tn she can even read books and tell you what is on Tv. The Neurologist tells me that he sees no brain injury thru the MRI or catscan. The phycitris tells me that there has to be brain damage. This is where I am at this time. She has medicare as a primary and blue cross blue shield as a secondairy insurence. If there is brain damage, will she get better with the proper help???
Avatar f tn In 1965 they could tell I had brain stem damage from the neurological exam.
Avatar m tn Yes, if there is some damage to brain, a MRI will pick it up. If you have a clean MRI, then you do not have brain damage. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar f tn Headaches after a brain injury can also be due to concussion, and normally CT and MRI are normal. However, yes, MRI should be done to rule out brain injury as the cause. Stress due to concussion and brain injury can also be the cause. Also get your blood pressure checked. Take care!
Avatar f tn Should I pursue a further neurological work-up? A MRI Brain Scan w/without contrast taken a month ago revealed a left perietal venous angioma along with chronic white matter periventricular ischemic changes more prominent on the left than the right. There is also a focus of deep white matter in the posterior left frontal region. My primary care physician told me there is damage and narrowing of the arteries; prescribed Zocor, diet, exercise and blood tests.

Avatar n tn Thank you for your posts. I have thought about getting an mri of the brain but after getting a ct scan and a cervical MRI I am thining about getting the back issue resolved first. My pupils being different sizes did not start until this disc issue starting causing me pain do I have to believe it is related. I also believe the spasms and twitching in my legs are either caused the the nerve issues in my neck or by anxiety.
Avatar n tn The Paedetrician decided to a CT scans to examine the brain. The CT scan results showed hypodensity on the right side of the brain. After two days in the clinic he decided to do MRI scans which confirmed the CT results. The Paed said this could mean a brain damage and he prescribed an Epilim medicine that should be taken for 18months.
