Avatar f tn Get a MRI and CT scan to rule out any pathology. Do not bear weight on the foot. Change the footwear as desired as per the comfort. Take some anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen and take rest.
Avatar n tn Hi, went to orthopedic after mri and he said he may possibly have to break the ankle to repair it. Have you heard of this and could advise why or what's involved in this type of surgery?
Avatar f tn http://i52.tinypic.com/smdez6.jpg At 8 weeks I got an air cast for the fibula fracture. I wore it for 6 weeks and the pain did not improve. 7 months after the initial injury I was finally sent for an MRI. Results: "12mm patch of ill-defined T2 intensity change indicating microtrabecular injury or bone bruise. Small amount of fluid is seen in the anterolateral gutter" 8 months after initial injury, the doctor said my MRI results are good news and they don't know what to suggest?
Avatar f tn Seven weeks ago I had a fall on some uneven concrete. Ankle went and I fell onto my left knee. People with me were more worried about my knee but most pain was in the ankle at the time so I was completely unconcerned by the knee. I got up and walked to my meeting, then went to a doctor who briefly glanced at my knee and gave it the all clear, and diagnosed a sprain in my ankle. Five weeks later an xray showed a fracture to my right ankle (lateral malleolus).
Avatar f tn I had my first MRI scan today with contrast of brain and spine, suspected MS. Have been told results take about two weeks. If it was a tumour would I hear sooner. I live in Britain .
Avatar f tn There were 4 views on the computer screen. He looked at only one from a distance and ordered a CT scan for my foot and ankle to rule out ligament injuries. The hospital called today to schedule 2 CT scans. I asked why there are 2 and she said that one is for the ankle and one is for the foot. I will be charged separately for each. I have had CT scans of the foot and ankle a few years ago and they were not separate. Is it standard to have separate scans?
10256164 tn?1408981241 If its not urget then wait in emergencies they do either mri or cat scan I can't remember which again only emergency. Your wrist can wait :) I've to have an ankle removed hoping I don't get appointment until baby is here!
Avatar n tn MRI DONE, MRI READING NORMAL. PAIN ONLY ON THE FOOT. BETWEEN START OF TOES AND ANKLE. PAIN WHEN I WALK, STEP DOWN AFTER SITTING OR LYING DOWN.
Avatar f tn I had initially fractured my ankle and developed Avascular Necrosis in talar area of ankle. My surgeon has conducted several x-rays and I have had MRI, CT scan, and bone scan. Conclusion - pain related to hardware. He refuses to remove the 2 screws however. It has been confirmed by diagnostics that fusion is 100 percent complete too. I have gone to 2 other surgeons; one refuses to go behind another surgeon; the other is disinterested it seems to help me too.
Avatar f tn Last october, i went over on my ankle . I am still in pain, i have had xrays and an mri scan on my ankle, and there is nothing showing wrong i still can not move my toes (apart from my toe next to my big toe which occasionally wiggles)) I also cannot rotate my foot/ankle. Sitting in the car really hurts. Sat on the chair other day, just leant to speak to someone and it sent pain through my heel ..I need to be able to walk as i am a postlady.
Avatar f tn I have had horrible shooting pain on my left ankle bone. It does not go away. My ankle bone is a little swollen - I also get pain on the inside of my elbow - but the ankle pain is more intense. I have tried wrapping it - elevating it - nothing helps. Does anyone know what this is and what I can do about it? My cobra (insurance ran out) and I have not gone to ther Dr. yet. Is it Fibromyalgia or arthritis? I did not have ab injury. The pain is at times - unbearable.
Avatar m tn Hi, I had a MRI scan a couple of days ago but no one has really explained to me what has happened, I will be reviewed by the spinal team as an outpatient. I have posted the results below and I would really appreciate if someone could explain in non medical terms what is happening. Here's some background info. I have had a recurring bad back for the past 10 years, but at the side of my back. Usually every six months for a couple of weeks at a time then back to normal.
Avatar f tn They have eventually sent me for a MRI scan and I should be getting the results through later this week. In the meantime does anybody have any ideas. In the morning the ankle is not too sore but by the end of the day its a mangled swollen mess. I am not even close to being able to run on it, if i catch my foot in a sideways movement the pain is sudden and severe. To be honest if feels as bad now as it did when i first broke it.
Avatar f tn Also, dislocation of the ankle joint is rarely seen without an associated fracture. So an x-ray or MRI of the foot is required to confirm whether it was a dislocation or fracture ankle.Pls get it done to clear any doubts. In any case, a dislocated ankle requires an average of 3-6weeks to heal completely.Till then adequate rest should be given to the part. Some severe cases may take months to heal. This depends on the extent of injury to ankle. Hope it helps.
Avatar m tn You should go for an MRI scan and get yourself examined appropriately by an orthopedician to rule out ligament, muscle or tendon tears or injuries. You should wear appropriate foot wear and consider wearing an ankle brace for healing of your soft tissue and follow it by physiotherapy. Go to an orthopedician for the best course of action. Take care!
Avatar n tn I injured myself the first part of sept 2007 where I sprained (so I was initially diagnosed) my left ankle pretty badly. When Physical Therapy didnt work I was sent to an Ortho. Had MRI in Oct which presented possible torn achillies in a verticle format. 6 weeks later in a boot, it was removed and my ROM was still less then 2% and the pain factor was high. A cortison shot given into the ankle proceeded to swell my ankle up to softball sized again.
1547018 tn?1293706725 He has done ex rays but has never ordered any further testing such as MRI or Cat Scan. I left the office very troubled by his demeanor. I am so much in pain I finally have sought a 2nd opinion. When I called there office and stated my situation they were shocked with these symptoms that I was not ordered a Cat scan or MRI. I forgot to mention after the surgery my left leg dragged and I had a extreme shooting pain down that leg with numbness for several weeks following surgery.
Avatar m tn this was after completing exercise program T25 and running. Had CT scan, MRI scans, cortisone injections, Xrays, and everything shows to be normal now, but the pain has not subsided. I even had sinus tarsi debridement surgery in my right foot. I have tried chiropractor, physical therapy, and I am now going for Active Release Therapy. I was wondering if anyone had a similar case out there. I am desperate for answers. My ankle never swells. I just have a deep ache.
Avatar n tn i have gotting done eng bone scan 3 different MRI and 6 sets of x-rays
280234 tn?1532986249 Hi, this is LPNGirl07. Sorry it took so long (years) to get back to everyone! lol I had an ankle MRI ordered by a podiatrist in '09 & read by a radiologist. I was diagnosed with mild peritendonitis in my right ankle. After that I never went back to the doctor again about it as it didn't appear it was a cancerous tumor or anything serious on the MRI. However, my ankle has never gotten better, and the lump may even gotten slightly larger or is swelled in the area.
Avatar m tn I sprained my ankle two weeks ago, and it feels much better now, but I went back to the doctor and he said he wants an MRI because of how badly it had bruised. The swelling has gone down a lot, but the hurt ankle is still a lot bigger than the uninjured one. I can walk with very little sometimes no pain, but it is still very stiff and sore in the morning when I wake up after it has been still all night.
Avatar f tn Was back at the hospital this morning they hav diagnosed post traumatic parasympathetic nerve damage after falling and have advised physiotherpy. I have insisted on an mri scan.
Avatar f tn s (all tests including a bone scan were normal) for my ankle. Also see if you can get a bone scan in the past I had a stress fracture that did not show up on a MRI but did show up on a bone scan. Go with your gut. And by the way when I did find a good surgeon and he did surgery my ligaments were very lax from chronic sprains-- even though the MRI said my ligaments looked normal.
Avatar f tn i cant push my foot down or raise it. i have had an mri scan on my ankle which has come back ok. i can be sat normally and just lean to the side and causes pain. Just above my heel constantly hurts.
Avatar m tn I injured my left ankle while playing squash in Feb 2015. Went to A&E and the nurse told me its a fracture. Can't remember exactly specifically what fracture. 1 week later I go to the orthopedic department and the Doctor tells me its not a fracture and just some ligament tear. So I had an MRI scan done and I never got the results back. They kept on delaying the appointment, 4 months I believe and I ended up forgetting the actual date of the appointment.
