There are a couple other antibiotics that can be prescribed if NGU is persistent, Erythromycine or Moxifloxacin. However, I would only use Moxifloxacin as a last resort, as it can have some very harsh and lasting side effects. In addition, if it's fungal related (Trich) they can also treat you with an alternative regimen of metronizadole.

I am having the same issue with NGU. tested for everything- negative. did the same- azitro, doxy, shot of rocephin, flagyl. don't know what else to do. thinking of trying moxi but heard it has side effects. i want to get diagnosed with a pcr test for any mycoplasma but my doctor doesn't offer it. i've been feeling sick for months, im sure its something to do with a bacteria because it happened immediately after unprotected oral sex. let me know what happens with you.

Hi, About a month ago, I had an itch in my urethra (penis) and there was a foul smelling discharge but no pus like symptoms. As I am currently situated in China and am not too confident of the Chinese hospitals, I visited an International Medical Center where the doctor diagnosed a Chlamydia infection. There was only a urine sample test done and I was prescribed Ofloxacin. My itch and discharge cleared up after I was done with the medication, 4 x 100 mg tablets, 2 times daily for 5 days.

hey there, badgerMR. to be honest, i took metronidazol just one day after i took my azythromicine (i know, shouldn't self-diagnose), but I took them anyway. and it did not help. I know there's an alternative which is tinidazol but I'm just saying I did take antibiotics against MG myself and it did not help the symptom...

doxycycline, azithromycin and moxifloxacin. The first two failed to clear my infection and now I have two days that I finished the moxifloxacin 400 mg( 10 days treatment) clearing my symptoms. My question is, Is it possible for the bacteria to reoccur after the moxifloxacin treatment? And if yes what other option are there?

you really have done yourself a disservice with your self treating and all this antibiotic use :( You've caused yourself side effects from them as well as now you've set yourself up majorly for yeast issues too. also odds are you've disrupted your gi flora now too which just sets you up for more issues down the line :( If you saw all the issues I see every day from antibiotic overuse, you'd never take another one again without a confirmed infection!

A recent study was done to show that Myco was only erradicated by 85% of those on the Azithro regiment described, however Avelox ( Moxifloxacin) killed Myco in all cases. Routine is to try described Azithro regimen first and if symtoms still exist Moxifloxacin. Why? I guess so that Myco doesn't become Moxifloxacin resistant. Save the bugs, kill the patient kind of thing. I say take the 400mg a day X 10 day regiment of Moxifloxacin and help yourself.

Quinilones are used less frequently for sure due to some side effect issues and warnings about the class of drugs. now only left moxifloxacin hasnt try, seems to be last resort. this bacteria already bothered me for 6 months, really want to get rid of it.

Hi, we are not doctors on these sites but I am a microbiologist and can give you some advice. It is rare to have Moxifloxacin resistance but it does happen. Since you both still have symptoms. Have you re-tested after treatment? If so I would wait about a week before re-testing to get the antibiotic out of your system. Yes usually after treatment of up to 14 days you should be symptom free unless it is a resistant strain or you have something else causing the problem.

He also took a swab to develop in the lab and he said moxifloxacin 400mg was fast effective to the bacteria but there was a part of the bacteria that was resistant. Hi. I am on week 60/72, second round of treatment. I was really really sick after shot for first few months and then this resolved and became tolerable at least. I now find that I am having these same significant side effects later in tx. This didn't happen last round, but I went 48 then. Anyone else have this happen?

i had similar side effects when coming off the depo shot. I thought i was pregnant and took 3 tests. they went away but it took about 6mo. My docs checked my hormones and pituitary gland and they we all fine. It's probably not the effexor but ck w/ your doc anyway.

I just googled Avastin side effects are there are many sites that have lots of info on there. Also, you could google the manufacturer or ask your oncology center for some fact sheets.... Just a thought.
